    Micro Inverters ???

How have your DS3 units been working? I agree...you need a wired connection to update firmware on the ECU (wifi interface), then for updating firmware on the microinverters, which happens automatically. They would then work without an internet connection, but you would not have the benefit...

    APsystems DS3 availability

https://krannich-solar.com/us-en/ We have been happy with Krannich Solar for our APSystems DS3-L units. Don't know if they have the 880VA version.

Microinverter Voltage Rise Design Issue (Enphase users beware!)

Could anyone elaborate on the grid-side causes for voltage spikes and microinverter drop-out? What kinds of grid events could cause a voltage spike? It only needs to be for 50ms to trip, so it could be noise. I've heard that service meters with Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) remote...

Repurposed harrows to adjustable tilt ground mount

Its a very nice build, and I appreciate that you shared it. American ingenuity at its finest! It looks like a fun project you have there...and a sensible path to energy independence. After seeing some of the creations people dream up on YouTube...cattle gates, mobile home trailer frames...

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

Good point about snow losses in PVWatts. The default settings is zero (under systems losses), but if the panels get covered with snow for days or weeks, it must become significant. We have seen impressive spikes in bifacial output after a fresh snow in winter. So it makes sense that...

Looking for light weight racking material to build my own racking system.

The unistrut still looks good...seems like that would last forever! I bet the cross bracing helps in the wind. That design looks really nice. You could almost sell that as a kit just the way you built it.

Repurposed harrows to adjustable tilt ground mount

Very impressive re-engineering! What kind of steel is that for the strongbacks you added? Since the panels are bifacial, it makes sense to not shade the backsides if possible. Looks like your setup could be engineered to accomplish that. I looked, and was unable to find a ground mount system...

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

I totally agree on this...PVWatts does not (yet) consider bifacial panels in their main tool. Maybe included in other more complex tools that have? Before building our system this spring, we setup 4 bifacial panels for testing over the winter. We had 2 on an APSystems YC-600 (2 panels, 300W...

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

Goal is to accumulate maximum credits...local power allows transfer of credits to other customers, but not cash payment, for excess credits. Flat rate for Net Metering No option for that with our power company This was my thought also, which is why I did the analysis on PVWatts. No plans for...

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

Thanks for the helpful data. There seems like a ton more content on PVWatts that I haven't found time to explore!

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

Correct....we're not charging batteries, so the goal is the most kWH overall.

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

I don't know why 35 is conventional here....but I've heard that from a few suppliers and installers. 45deg is an interesting idea. Beneficial from both a snow shedding and backside uptake perspective. It could increase winter production from the bifacials (it really works...the modules go...

Tilt Angle for Ground Mount Bifacials in New England?

We're installing a 13.8kW (DC) ground mount system with Bifacial panels here in Northern VT. This is for a net-metering system only at this time, so the objective is to maximize annual production. The ground mount is the Nuance Osprey system, which allows for setting any desired tilt angle. I...

    Alternative to microinverters

APSystems now has a DIY option that allows both the app and website. I don't know if it provides full functionality, but it appears to. They have also responded to Tech Support questions. In my recent experience, I consider APSystems to be DIY friendly!

Advice for Surge Protection on Ground Mount with Multiple Arrays?

Currently leaning toward the Midnight Solar SPD's...after checking out some videos, they seem like the experts in the space. Anyone have other ideas for the best device to use for ground mount arrays?

Advice for Surge Protection on Ground Mount with Multiple Arrays?

Hi Everyone, We're finishing up a 14.6kW ground mount installation with 38 Adani Bifacial modules on three separate Nuance Osprey ground mounts and using APSystems DS3-L microinverters. My question is about surge protection. I'm planning to add surge protection to the system, probably with a...

Your Thoughts on my New Array Design

Hi Everyone....Sorry for the long silence on this thread. We've been busy getting our DIY system installed, and the buried conduit and household wiring completed. Just last week we received our solar generation meter and officially began our Net Metered connection through our utility! We...

Your Thoughts on my New Array Design

Yes....I'd recommend CED Greentech to anyone reading this thread. Their prices were very competitive, and any cost difference is easily justified by the superb local customer service. Great resource, and I found them to be happy to help out the DIY'ers. That's a lot of panels for sure, but...

    Experience with NEP BDM-600?

Thanks for the feedback....sorry for the slow reply. I'm also looking at APSystems microinverters...these are another option. Yes with those big panels the 500W inverter is probably the way to go...a 300W would clip like crazy.

Osprey racks has anyone used them?

I think the Nuance Osprey system is a good option...that's what we're using for our DIY project. It is easy to assemble, and as you mentioned it does not require concrete or ground screws.
