    Correct Battery Torqueing???

Does anyone know of some good fuses or circuit breakers that are 60V 120A? My batteries are 48V, but have a max charge voltage of 54.4V and max voltage of 58.4V. So the 48V max breakers probably won’t work, right? Is a 60V fuse or breaker enough? Each of my four battery components have an...

    Correct Battery Torqueing???

HRTKD, Thank you for the reply. Now I need to buy some fuses of about 120A dc (?) to put on each of the four positive wires. Then I will need to tighten the wire lugs on the busbar. That will allow me to position and turn on all four batteries. Each “battery” is actually composed of a lot of...

    Correct Battery Torqueing???

I reali I realize that this is a rather old thread, and the situation may be different because this discussion is about one brand of battery and I have four 48V Discover LiFePO4 130Ah batteries. The paperwork that came with the batteries said to tighten the bolt to secure a wire Lug to the...

    LiFePO4 battery pack connection questions

LiFePO4 Battery Connection Questions again My question is that Discover Battery Company (maker of my 42 48 6650 AES batteries) recommends connecting four or more of their batteries together using Bus Bars. Do I need a dc fuse (or breaker) between each battery positive terminal and the Bus Bar...

    Adding batteries to bank

Interesting reply from Signature Solar James (SSJ). When I call SS on the phone to learn whether I could use their LiFePO4 batteries along with Discover AES 42-48-6650 LiFePO4 batteries I got a firm NO. That was in spite of the batterie’s having the same chemistry, both being 48V and now I hear...

    Battery connection

2/0 wire comes in a 8 or 10 wire combination and a multi wire (perhaps 75 to 100 wires?). The 8 or 10 wire combination is indeed very stiff, but the true multi wire combination is very flexible. As far as I saw all 2/0 cable is expensive, especially if you need a lot of wire. Wiring from my...

Discover AES 7.4kWh 48VDC Lithium Ion LiFePO4 Battery QTY 2, Location East Texas

I’ve got some of these batteries, and yes, they are very good. Although they will communicate with SMA Inverters they are not SMA approved. For communication problem between Discover batteries and SMA do not bother asking SMA for help. They would not help me at all over the phone.

    LiFePO4 battery pack connection questions

I have asked for assistance previously on the DIY Solar Forum and gotten excellent help from Hedges and MurphyGuy. Their advice helped, and my installer was back in the area for a visit and got everything working. He has a lot of experience installing solar module setups, like the The Mall of...

Sunny Boy Grid Tied Inverter in Island Mode 60hz

According to someone at SMA that I spoke with I can just use Ethernet for communications between Sunny Island and Sunny Boy. The SB6.0 has an A and a B communication port. To allow the Master SI to communicate with both SB6.0 inverters I used a Y Ethernet splitter to extend the first Ethernet...

Sunny Boy Grid Tied Inverter in Island Mode 60hz

Hedges, The inverters that I am using are: SMA SB6.0 1SP-US-40 (09/2018) SMA SI4548-US-10 (04/2018) An annoying thing that I have noticed Hedges, The inverters that I am using are: SMA SB6.0 1SP-US-40 (09/2018) SMA SI4548-US-10 (04/2018) Something that I noticed about SMA is that...

Sunny Boy Grid Tied Inverter in Island Mode 60hz

The Sunny Boy inverters on my system Hello MurphyGuy, thanks for the reply. Item 1: I do have two “battery banks” with each containing 16S 26P LiFePO4 cell modules. The two “battery banks” are connected in parallel, so the two SI4548 inverters can be connected in a variety of ways. The...

Sunny Boy Grid Tied Inverter in Island Mode 60hz

I currently have a professional installer solar panel system with 24 solar modules and two SMA Sunny Boy 3000 inverters. On my own (DIY) I’m adding 24 additional solar modules, two SB6.0 grid-tied PV inverters, two Sunny Island 4548 off-grid inverters and two 48V battery packs. The plan is to...
