New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

@FilterGuy One last thing for now.. the flash I am looking at now is for the V1 BMS (2021-10 area date of production). This behavior MAY have changed with newer version BMS's. I plan to get the flash off a newer BMS in the near future and will report back my findings.

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news ☹️ imagine my surprise when I came across that code! This is programmed into the microcontroller flash, so as it is right now, it wouldn't be editable. The MCU's flash would have to be updated to allow this to be changed via the app. Unfortunately, the only...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

@FilterGuy So I originally said yes, from my understanding, since this is what I was told. I have been looking into the MCU's flash and found today that my understanding was slightly incorrect.. The balance function will only turn on if the charge current is more than 1 amp. The 3.4V cutoff...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Sure thing! Thanks for the question. This may be something I can push for being a value that can be modified via the app if it's not hardware limited. If 25mV is software controlled then I think being able to set it within a range might be nice..

Don’t place panels flat on the grass

Wow! I have lived here for 8 years now (it feels like less.. man, time sure does fly) Where in Japan are you? I am in the Ise-Shima area of Mie. 宜しくお願いします。

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

I am told this differential is 25mV.

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Yes, this is my understanding. I actually am not sure about this! It seems this is determined by the microcontroller, so I'll ask for this information and report back.

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

This is mostly correct. In the case of BJTs, there won't be a 0.6V drop since the controlling IC (in this case, TI's BQ76920) can drive the transistor's base high enough to get the transistor into saturation, so you'd only have a small Vce drop. However, I am fairly certain the BMS uses MOSFETs...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

You can determine the BMS version by looking at the Date of Manufacture in the Detail screen on the app. The original V1 BT BMS will be in October 2021. I am not sure which version started showing Protection State, but I know it shows at least starting in April 2022 Date of Manufacture. The...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

The trick Dexter mentioned will work in that situation. I agree that a switch or a simple click in the app would be nice. We are working on getting them to implement this.

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

1.) The newer version BMS shows this information in the Protection State screen. Unfortunately, older BMS's won't be able to see this information because the MCU doesn't report it to the app. 2.) How would you like to change these settings? Like, the voltage when the balance function starts and...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Unfortunately, this seems to be a symptom of Android apps that use Bluetooth requiring location access. See this thread: https://android.stackexchange.com/questions/160479/why-do-i-need-to-turn-on-location-services-to-pair-with-a-bluetooth-device

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Are you saying you want to be able to charge all 4 batteries at 100-200 amps each or charge them individually at 100-200 amps? If the former, how are you going to get 5,000-10,000 watts of charging power on your RV? Would be interesting to see such a system! Unfortunately, the over current in...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

If the Bluetooth BMS's are still in your batteries, can you verify in the app at what current do they cut off for each battery? If they are sharing the load exactly then that's 105 amps which is about 15% different than what I measured at about 120-125ish amps.

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

SOK says that they will work on a software update to go into a low power state when not used for long periods. I'm not sure the details of how they plan to implement this. Another thing that's different from the non Bluetooth BMS is the voltage required to recover from a SCD or OCD. On the old...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Yeah, those specs look like they were carried over from the non Bluetooth BMS, so they should be updated. You have access to a SOK battery with the Bluetooth BMS? Do you have a means of pulling and controlling a 120+ amp load? I would like for anyone who can to confirm for themselves and post...

New SOK Bluetooth BMS for DIY

Hi Justin! Dan from the Facebook SOK group. Just FYI for anyone considering updating to the Bluetooth BMS.. Overcurrent Disconnect on this BMS occurs at around 120 amps. As was pointed out, the old BMS didn't cut off until around 200+ amps. From my original Facebook post regarding this...
