    Frustrated in Puerto Rico?

Just a wild guess: 1) Get a panel tester to test each panel. Wire up the panels that still work well. Or, just test the voltage at the Outback. 2) Check the water level in all the batteries. they are probably shot, but who knows. 3) Get a multi meter to measure voltages. 4) Measure the panel...

Interesting problem over paneling with parallel strings

Does it really matter (other than heating up the wire a little more) if you are still getting 1kw out of the MPPT?

Runtime/Lossless Balancing for using dissimilar batteries?

Mixing lifepo4 is fine. I have 100ah batteries in parallel with 280ah. Charge to the same voltage (full is typical), and then you can add in parallel. If you have access to the bms, you can disable discharge, and enable charging. Then the battery joins in during the charge cycle. When it is...

Automatic isolation switch (200 amp) for AC Coupled PV setup

200 amp ac contactor switch. Use a 24v powersupply hooked up on the grid side to keep the contactor closed. When the grid goes down, 24v power is lost, and contactor opens.

Slowly charging PHEV from a solar charged battery

Ford Kuga has a 14kwh battery. If you want to charge from 0% to 100%, you need atleast a 14kwh battery which weighs around 90 kg. Better option is a permanent setup you can plug in every day. Can you install a power line from the back garden to the front? 14kwh over 2 weeks is 1 kwh per day...

    Reflection of the sun's rays

At those time of day, the watts produced are probably not worth the hassle of optimizing. Spend your money on another panel if you need more power.

Thoughts on how to wire solar into my home?

If inverter between meter and generator, then you need 3 lines: meter to grid input, generator to gen input, and panel to load output. If inverter after meter and generator, then you need 2 lines: transfer switch to grid input, and panel to load output.

    Moveable solar structure

Calculate the wind load at the angle you are mounting them at, and the wind speed. Having something deflect the wind would help.

External BMS or a battery protector?

Best wishes without a bms. I would keep max charge voltage under 27.0v, just to be safe, and cutoff above 24.0v.

External BMS or a battery protector?

I assume you are putting 4 in series to get 48v. I suppose a bms to keep 4 12v batteries in balance is better than nothing. Don't know anything about bms that balances 12v batteries.

    inverter selection

Anything at or above the MPPT's minimum voltage will start it pushing power to the battery. It may be only a few watts. The voltage of the panels is pretty steep, so they will likely exceed the minimum voltage of the mppt pretty quickly. Again, it may not be many watts. The batteries don't...

    Victron wire for ac out

Either is fine. Stranded is for large wire because it is hard to bend that big solid wire. Stranded is hard enough.

    Raspberry PI Power Supply

I would trust something like this: https://a.co/d/dZ3fH1U Maybe a 48v to 12v, and then use a high quality 12v to usb to provide known clean power. I went round and round on powering internet and monitoring 24/7. I was thinking direct from battery, but if I took the battery off line, it would...

    (updated) Signature Solar 48v Chargeverter

AIO gives you a little more efficiency when going from pv to ac directly. It can do that high voltage to high voltage. With components, the charge controller steps down to 48v to connect to battery and inverter. The inverter then steps back up to 240v. Paralleling a component Outback sysyem...

This is my first Diy battery rack. Any advice on how to improve it or important things i may have missed?

They should be in a holder. The fuse is not structural, and the wire will be free to short out power from the other batteries. Just my preference: on the bms busbar connection, I would put the 2 bms wires on the outside, and the single wire in the middle. Current then flows on each side of the...

Wow! I Guess Anything Goes On YouTube

Little margin in weight limit for shelf. 440 lbs, with the batteries alone weighing 385 lbs. 24v for that many amps? Why not 48v? Stacking major connections on busbar. 300 amp busbar for 1,120 ah of batteries? Anl fuse, not class t. IMHO, should have non-conductive protection for lower...

    EG4 6500EX - Single PV or both PV's

Assuming you get to the minimum voltage, use both mppts. If you use 1 mppt, and a leaf falls on one panel, all panels are affected. If you use 2 mppts, only the panels on that mppt are affected. The panels in the other mppt are unaffected. Do you have 2 eg4 6500ex? Max pv on one inverter is...
