Installing LiFePo4 cells on the narrow side

Here's a photo of the cells (I added the +/- stickers myself)

Installing LiFePo4 cells on the narrow side

You're right, I'm not going to take any risks, that is why I'm trying to find out some info about the correct way of installing them. I'm not sure how to find out if they're made by CATL, on the cells there's just a VariCore sticker with a QR code.

Installing LiFePo4 cells on the narrow side

The cells are completely caged in a wooden box which has on its internal walls insulation for roller shutters (that's the best I found) that along with the pressure applied by the walls holds the cells super tightly, there's no way they can move in any direction. Even if they were to shift (at...

Installing LiFePo4 cells on the narrow side

What is the reasoning behind your suggestions? I can't picture in my mind what difference could it make if they're laying on the side compared to when they stand, could you please explain further?

Installing LiFePo4 cells on the narrow side

Hi, I got four 310Ah cells from VariCore which I'm using as 12V battery. I created a compression box for them, and my idea is to install them on my RV under the passenger seat, that implies an installation on the narrow side of the cells. I've been reading online some contrasting opinions...

Can an active balancer replace top balancing?

Yes they are LiFePo4 cells, VariCore ones, and the nominal voltage is actually 3.2V as you said, I got confused with the charging voltage. The active balancer I'm planning to use is the one shown in this video: The new cells all have the exact same voltage (the 3,34V I reported in my previous...

Can an active balancer replace top balancing?

Probably I didn't explain myself properly. 3,65v is the nominal voltage for the cells, the actual SOC is about 3,34v

Can an active balancer replace top balancing?

Hi, I had this question in my mind for a while but I couldn't find a clear answer anywhere. I have 4 brand new 3.65v 310Ah cells that I plan to use to build a 12v battery, as it would take quite some time to top balance them I was wondering if adding an active balancer would allow me to actually...

Help with MPPT sizing for RV

Thank you DThames, I clearly missed such important piece of the puzzle... So, MPPT excluded, my calculations were actually correct? Also, when calculating the length/size of the wiring from the solar panels to the charger should I take into account Voc or Vpmax and Isc or Ipmax?

Help with MPPT sizing for RV

Hi, I will soon get a new RV on which I will need to install solar panels, MPPT charger and 2 x 100Ah Lead Acid batteries (12v). I have 4 solar panels with the following specs: Pmax: 100W Ipmax: 5.6A Vpmax: 18V Isc: 6.2A Voc: 20V My idea is to create a parallel + series setup (so a parallel...
