What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

New outhouse with Port-a-potty inards for students to use and my wife's new greenhouse half assembled.

Live Ground Shocked 5 Year Old

Is solar hooked up to this? If so the case of the inverter is likely going to be energized. And if you don't have grounding rods it will energize the container.

My favorite type of previous owner is "I have 7 different types of fasteners, but only about 3 of each. That's OK, Let's modify the house"

The tire and rim are 650lbs. I have a chain hoist to raise and lower the spare along with a 25 ton jack and cribbing to lift the axle.

Exhibit A. I had to chip out 6" of slush turned ice to water the pigs this morning.

I would have loved all snow. The ice is everywhere and dorking up my endless projects schedule 😂

December PV starting off crappy again.

We had snow, rain, ice, then snow again. Because we knew there would be ice I bumped our battery bank up from grid overnight in case it turned bad. Of course nothing happened and today was 100% Clear skies. So I probably would have made 60kWh, but instead I hit 100% after only 30kwH because I...

56,000lbs of I'm coming through 😂 She has a 24V solar system. Panels on roof.

Nice. This is Dozer, our custom camper built on a M916 chassis.

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

The two farrowing huts will basically be cabins. 8ftx12ft with front to back sloping 7.5ft-5.5ft roofs. They will share a side wall. I'm reusing the sliding barn doors. There will be power inside with a 3ftx7ft bunk to sleep on that doubles underneath as a heated area for piglets. You have to...

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

It's was 30% of new material cost for us to dismantle and move the barn 3 hours away to our house and build the farrowing huts the way I want them. Large lumber and metal roofing are ridiculously expensive still. All the wood was in excellent condition and the roofing had no leaks.

    Overkill BMS onboard shunt accurate?

I have (8) of these BMSs and they are pretty accurate for live draws, but your SOC/Ah long term tracking will be trash. You have to hit the reset button in the app to get the Ah to refresh to proper values because the BMS is tracking voltage and extrapolating Ah, which it doesn't refresh in its...

What was your most interesting recent non solar project?

My son and I took apart a three horse barn in NW VT. The materials will be used to build large farrowing (birthing) cabins for our pigs.

    EG4 6500EX 120/240 Setup, 48V 105kWh Battery & Overkill 100A BMS Install

16 months in and we're at 93 battery cycles. We are current in 3rd winter. It snowed again last night. Still zero faults/shutdowns since going live. We've lost grid power probably 20 times and the switching has been flawless.

Limit current to each battery string in a system with multiple parallel batteries.

If you really wanted over amp protection beyond the BMS, you could put individual T class fuses or DC breakers on each bank. If it were me and I had such a large array with that small of a battery bank, I'd just raise the min voltage cutoff to 51V. This prevents draining the battery and...

Limit current to each battery string in a system with multiple parallel batteries.

I like the parking lot analogy for how batteries charge. Your battery is a giant parking garage, like at an airport. Electrons are cars. Chargers are where the cars come from. The charger has an infinite number of cars (you can think of it like an even bigger parking garage that is trying...

LFP for EV's projected to be less than $56 per kWh within 6 months

As others have pointed out our solar arrays are already will into the danger category. My array is 35A @ 450V under max sun. It's a lot easier to wire up 35A @450V than 350A @ 45V.

LFP for EV's projected to be less than $56 per kWh within 6 months

Voltage needs to go up towards EV car battery pack voltages to help lower copper requirements, lower volumes of bulk systems, further press costs down and create more competitive options. Among other things, like reducing line losses for DC transport. Higher voltage safety exists. We just need...

LFP for EV's projected to be less than $56 per kWh within 6 months

I'd love to see 500h+ cells for future builds. I'd like to see 96V inverters too.

Climate change, COVID, and other things...

There literally is no sea level rise due to water melt. Sea level changes in local areas are driven by glacial rebound/subsidence. The Earth's crust still has not stabilized from the end if the last ice age. Where temperatures when up 15C and sea levels went up 450ft without humans causing it.

Climate change, COVID, and other things...

Nearly half of US ground station temperature data is made up daily. And guess what those temp data points show when you isolate them? Fictitious rise in temps. Government lying to people shouldn't be a hard idea to believe. As to Nuclear we don't need to be building what are essentially...

Climate change, COVID, and other things...

Climate change is 100% a scam. Here's a video I posted on my YouTube channel of piglets playing. No audio. Description is direct and says nothing even remotely related to climate. But yes, the US government is driving up energy costs by blocking oil and gas production and the basically...

December PV starting off crappy again.

They have been online with zero stoppages since Nov 2022. I have not had a single fault, even when testing before they were full time up. The build dates on my units are July 2022 I believe. I have had zero issues. I have not updated my firmware. I do not have the light flickering issues some...

December PV starting off crappy again.

Thanks on website! Slowly working on getting it off the ground. I own a CNC service business and I'm finally in a stable spot with that to focus on PreppenWolf. *Note for those that haven't looked PreppenWolf is not a solar vendor, it's training in how to homestead. My original build thread...

December PV starting off crappy again.

My battery bank (105kWh) is full for the first time in months. Made 52.8kWh yesterday. Feb has been turning great. We've created 0.6MWh and consumed 0.8Mwh. A huge turn around from Jan.

December PV starting off crappy again.

We had out first 100% sunny day in probably 5 weeks. 41.8kWh today from our 15kWh array. 10% better than last year due to our new panel positions. February would be amazing if it weren't cloudy 90% of the time.

Miserable in SW NH. Got a foot of snow yesterday through last night. Clouds, clouds and more clouds

December PV starting off crappy again.

It's tough here in NH for winters. I'd probably need 100kW of panels and 300-500kWh of battery to make it thru winter. The cloud cover is brutal some weeks.

    EG4 6500EX 120/240 Setup, 48V 105kWh Battery & Overkill 100A BMS Install

Update. As a note after 15 months of operation my batteries have a cycle equivalent of 86 as reported by all 8 of my BMSs. January has been the usual crap cloudy weather. Production isn't great.

I am talking about the 100A BMSs. My system is running 8 of them and they've been great.

    Overkill bms useless

To reset the Ah, use the Overkill App (not the xiaoxiang) and click this reset button. The BMS isn't meant to track Ah, it's just a reference calculation. The BMS is tracking voltage. The BMS takes the voltage, references the % chart and the current voltage to create a Ah reference when you...
