    Victron Charge Controller Price Crash

Yep, I did sort of a double/triple take on mine before/during/after ordering a 150/45. Mine appears to be a legit/authorized Victron seller. Good question, would be interesting to see if there may be more coming or if this is just a new 'loss leader' for more Victron sales.. either way, I...

    Victron Charge Controller Price Crash

I was referring more to people outside the US.. because even in the US, a significant portion of the population can't even afford a $1k emergency...

    Victron Charge Controller Price Crash

What's that figure adjusted for people who can actually afford solar power?

    Victron Charge Controller Price Crash

Loss leader - get people in with reasonably priced tier 1 charge controllers so that they feel the need to have everything else be Victron too ?

    Another lithium charging fire

Virtually all the cheap lithium powered chinese 'hoverboards' / scooters / e-bikes out there are liabilities. Ticking time bombs. Really just serves to justify standards/inspections for solar/battery setups - as much as I despise dealing with bureaucracy in my own home.

    Water Battery Idea

Of course it's possible... but there's a huge difference between a micro hydro setup with a continuous natural water source and attempting to make your own source by pumping it. I'm with @ruchira88 on this one - for the cost, you could probably just add more panels and/or batteries and come out...

LifePO4 battery SOC vs Voltage issue

Yeah.. sounds like this battery needs to stay on a charger for a while. So far I've had kind of the opposite problem with mine - it was indicating 17% SOC @ despite still being >=52.5V.. but I haven't completed the full setup yet, just some initial testing.

SolarEver as a brand an panel life expectancy

You'll see that and more getting into spring & summer as the sun's path throughout the sky gets higher and higher. Great day for it here today, too. If I had my 4-panel setup done on my cargo trailer it probably would've collected 5-7kWh - which would offset more than half my average daily...

SolarEver as a brand an panel life expectancy

It's a difficult question with your roof mounting situation, but yes... Dec/Jan are definitely the worst months for solar around here. We had an exceptionally dark/dreary month of December up here in Michigan (literally record breaking with <8 hours of total sunshine for the month). We're past...

    Sudden system shutdown

Can't say for sure, mine's a different config with just one LifePower4, so all my dip switches are off. I think for multiple LifePower4s you might have to have the "Master" battery (the one with the BMS cable connected to the inverter) with the first dip switch on, then the second battery with...

EcoFlow a Good Company BAD PRODUCT!

It could be as simple as reorienting the Delta Pro so the inverter & batteries aren't directly between the bluetooth/wireless module on the Delta unit and where the receiving device is.. but yeah, if you can reduce or eliminate those physical barriers, that should help your connectivity.

    Sudden system shutdown

Is your Battery Type setting "LI"? If so, check your BMS communication; ensure your LifePower4's dip switches are set correctly with your battery configuration. This is the same sequence of errors I got before getting BMS communication between the LifePower4 and SPF 3000TL working correctly...

    Melting snow

On a roof-mounted array - particularly over a shingled roof - I'd be a little wary. Ice dams can cause significant damage to roofing. By melting snow on panels, you're creating perfect conditions for ice dams, where that water may refreeze and create dams basically as soon as it hits the roof...

    Constructing a portable all-in-one system

I have similar "portable Battery+Inverter" plans for my solar trailer setup that might be beneficial for you to check out. I plan on building a box with 1/4" hardie board (fiber cement board) for fire resistance, and I'll probably be insulating it as well to help protect against freezing temps...

Where to find female version of gnerator power inlet box?

Another thing you could potentially do is one of these style boxes, although unless your receptacle is recessed quite deep.. I wouldn't expect it to be able to close on a big L15-30 or L14-30 plug/cable. I think they make some with a diagonal receptacle to offer complete weather protection...

    Supplemental power

As always, lots of factors here will affect your choice, chief among them: budget, and expected load (i.e. "do a power audit" to figure out how much power your circuit(s) draw over time). I personally have a Growatt SPF 3000 TL + 5.1kWh LifePower4 battery, and it'd probably work well for this...

    I am confused….

Kind of smells like fraud (wouldn't surprise me in FL), but without knowing more specifics... we can't really give you a good answer. Are these homes possibly going to be turned into rentals, where the renter pays for electricity use? That might explain the situation i.e. the owner wants all...

Ecoflow river 2 does not turn AC output back on automatically when grid power returns

Unfortunately this seems to be the only endpoint they offer, right now at least.. Nothing for more granular information like solar voltage/amperage, possibly 'write' access for turning AC/DC on/off via API, etc.

EcoFlow a Good Company BAD PRODUCT!

Bluetooth isn't great at penetrating solid matter.. that's not really Ecoflow's fault. ...is there anything you could potentially relocate for less of a physical barrier between the Ecoflow unit and where you might typically be? Alternatively, if you've got a hotspot you could connect the...

Ecoflow river 2 does not turn AC output back on automatically when grid power returns

Nice, I haven't tested the switchover yet myself... all my important stuff is already on UPS devices (desktop/office setup, and my separate network/server equipment setup), so any time I've run a computer on my Delta 2 or R2M, the UPS was already protecting the device - I just pulled the UPS...

    Planning stage

Sounds like a single 6-12kW hybrid inverter w/ 240V split-phase AC might do the trick for you. Depending on your budget and comfort level with chinese electronics (and, really, whether you think you might grid-tie this system), there are a lot of choices out there ranging from Growatt, MPP...

    Cable opinion

I don't have a ton of advice on cables, however, those would probably do it... ...but FWIW: you may want to consider going 48V with your future system (and use a 12V step-down converter for any 12V loads). It'll save you from having to buy massive cable like this (among other things)

Ecoflow river 2 does not turn AC output back on automatically when grid power returns

Maybe they'll add it in a future firmware update. All the "2" models are still pretty new and are receiving updates. My Delta 2 has a "Lab Features" page where this can be enabled: The River 2 Max I also had (sold it to my buddy since he regretted not going for the deal) did not have this...

Power out here again from Storm.

Indeed - I couldn't agree more, especially since my furnace went out yesterday (27 yr old system so it was anticipated... just didn't think it'd happen at literally the worst possible time so far this winter). Space heaters keeping me going for now. An experience like this really cements my...

Sooo... its 12F outside, my power is out until tomorrow night...

Cheers, hope you're able to make things work out! No natural gas heating options? Or propane heaters you might be able to borrow from a friend in an emergency? Might want to let a trickle of water run if you've got some pipes in or near exterior walls. I'm in the same boat... Dad's without...

Power out here again from Storm.

This is the goal with the system I'm in the process of building. I'd have the panels stowed flat for this wind though, so they likely wouldn't be collecting a ton.. but it'd be better than nothing. Plus there's always the ability to top off with a generator (even a small one).
  28. C

    Why batteries???

Diesel generators need regular upkeep/maintenance Generators also require fuel to run (whereas a solar + battery system do not) If you have a decent Solar/Inverter/Battery system, you can usually do 120V AC infeed to get power from a generator (big or small). You can use a small/quiet inverter...

EG4 5th Wheel RV Solar Design

Kind of a bummer to see this almost 2 months later - I'm doing pretty similar setup although keeping it 120V (I've got a "7x14ft cargo trailer" post for it for detail) Problems: What's your typical consumption in a day and expected combined loads? Do you have any real need for more than a unit...

Signature Solar should I even bother

...and FWIW, I ordered from Signature Solar recently. Growatt SPF 3000TL + 1x 48V 5.1kWh LifePower4 rackmount battery. Everything went well enough - received it all in good/working and new condition. It took a bit to actually send it out, but that's palletized freight for you... plus the...

Signature Solar should I even bother

Don't be condescending... elaborate if you're speaking of something else. Has the manufacturer you're speaking explicitly stated that they will honor their warranty on their products purchased through Signature Solar? Companies can be 'funny' about this stuff.

    Had an electrician visit...

Does he have an idea what he's going to replace it with? Unless you're only planning on running 4-6 circuits, that's a pretty tiny looking box to fit many circuits in..

24 vs 48 volt system for beginner

I don't necessarily disagree, but there's something to be said for 12V systems and the fact that you can find components (inverters, charge controllers) a lot cheaper & more readily available (locally) than anything 48V

    Bulletproof Off-grid System Recommendations?

Fair enough, if adding more capacity to your system is an option. I was just thinking in terms of reducing consumption overall - my big fridge is something like 1.8kWh/day, which constitutes ~20% of my household consumption.
