Pallet of Silfab SL-380 HC form Signature Solar, Not Real Impressed...

Signature Solar has made this right in a very timely manner.(y) Apparently, Silfab said that this was a pallet of quarantined products that got accidentally loaded onto the container that was shipped out. :fp2

Pallet of Silfab SL-380 HC form Signature Solar, Not Real Impressed...

Anyone know how important the panel edge seal is for long term integrity? Am I right in thinking that the back-sheet seal to the glass is the most important part?

JK BMS GPS/UART Port GND Connected Directly To Battery Negative?

I am planning on using a isolator like this: https://www.digikey.com/en/products/detail/nve-corp-isolation-products/IL-712-2E/964106 I would need to power up the jk side of the isolator with 3.3V. For that I am thinking this...

JK BMS GPS/UART Port GND Connected Directly To Battery Negative?

Almost talked myself out of it, but I am no longer isolated if this ground is connected... Battery could be disconnected from charger for medium long periods. Battery is only 60 Ah.

JK BMS GPS/UART Port GND Connected Directly To Battery Negative?

Hmmm. Good point, maybe I am overthinking this... The controller and all the rest of the components(contactor, fan, etc) are powered from an Isolated 50W dc-dc converter. With this isolated, I shouldn't have issues I believe.

JK BMS GPS/UART Port GND Connected Directly To Battery Negative?

It appears that the signal GND pin located at the GPS/UART port on JK BMS is not isolated from battery negative. This means a possible current path even with the mosfets turned off? I am working on a controller that will communicate with the JK. It looks like I will need to isolate these signal...

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

@RCinFLA Any thoughts on the JK BMS mosfet temps at the end of my last few tests? Going by your post here: https://diysolarforum.com/threads/jk-200a-active-balancing-bms-battery-current-limits.40550/ I expected to see much higher mosfet temps. It could be that the blower fan is drawing...

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

Lack of integrated/configurable heating and cooling(both needed when batteries are in an insulated box with high C-rates) and size constraints.

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

I temporarily removed tail current cutoff in my charger and held the pack for several hours at 3.55/cell to give the JK BMS a chance to balance things better. It seemed to help. I used the same procedure and did another capacity test: Charging finished: Start of discharge: Middle of...

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

I am hoping that an AC induction motor run via a curtis controller might be a different beast? I can control max motor currents via settings in the controller.

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

Assuming the remainder of the energy went into internal heating, 60 Ah cell design capacity - 57 Ah measured capacity = 3 Ah 3 Ah x 2.9V = 8.7 Wh per cell 8.7 Wh / .4 h test duration = 22 W internal heating per cell This seems low to me, given the change in cell temp with 40 deg air being...

Crude 2.5C Capacity Test Of Frey 36130190-60PF 60Ah Cell

Slow progress. BMS leads and heating/cooling hardware pretty much all mounted. Power resistors bring up the pack temp quick with about 600W of heat. Single point (set screw) compression with Belleville spring under round thrust pad to indicate compression: BMS mounted. AMXL Fuse/holder is...
