Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

It is a year and 2 days old (it is on the Sol-Ark page I shared above). I guess that page is out of date. So I maybe in for a longer wait.

Not sure if it is new. This is what it says on their website.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

I need a ~4kW inverter. Looks like Sol-Ark may have a smaller (5K) one to be CEC listed.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

I hope there will be other inverter options. If not it will be a longer wait for me.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Yeah I saw the AltE listing UL9540 compliant energy storage. The cheapest battery + inverter option is $11K and that is more than I want to spend. I will wait for others.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Got it thanks. I will be running some google searches and will be checking SOK and EG4 battery pages.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Thanks for the info! So where do I find what batteries the Sol-Ark inverter is UL9540 certified with? Looks like the more suitable 5kW Sol-Ark (for me) inverter is not on the CEC list yet. https://www.sol-ark.com/sol-ark-15k-hybrid-inverter-on-cec-list/

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

This is what Current Connected says about UL9540 for SOK 48V battery with the display. This section is out of date, it already has the UL9540A certification. The 9540 is with Sol-Ark inverters. I hope they have a suitably rated inverter in that list. So in a few months it should be available...

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Yeah I can take that route as well with the breakers. I was trying to avoid issues with inspection. But all that seems moot now with needing the UL9540 certification. I cannot see that many (if any) DIY options for UL 9540 certified combinations. It seems I may have to wait until the new...

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

I read on Current Connected site that UL9540 is 'pending' for the more expensive (with displays) SOK 48BV battery.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Good to know thanks. But I think UL9540 is going to dictate what battery + inverter I can use.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Looking at PG&E doc on eligibility for E-ELEC I should qualify. But I do not care if not. Sick of power outages with 'unknown' reason and 'unknown' ETA on restoring power.

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

Good question regarding UL9540. I thought EG4 had the relevant UL rating. I will need to look into it. If EG4 does not have the California residential rating then it is a deal breaker for me. Why would it be off grid? It is capable of being connected to the grid (and I want to power the...

They are a little more expensive compared to EG4s. Can you elaborate on why you'd prefer SOK?

Looking for feedback on my choices for inverter and batteries

I am looking for feedback on my project and materials I intend to use. I have chosen the Conext SW 4048 inverter for my project. Project description: battery backup for a town house for everything except the electric oven and the electric dryer. I do not expect to be able to add solar panels...

Thanks Hedges for the suggestions. I have considered portable backup with solar panels and doing a piecemeal solution for the fridge etc. I can still do piecemeal and limit to fewer circuits. That would reduce the need for a 4kw capacity. I have a kill a watt and I already have done a back of...

Sounds great, thanks. I live in silicon valley part of the time. Should be easy to set up a time to check it out. I am looking at UL listed reliable inverters and thought SW4048 would fit the bill.

    Greetings from Monterey Bay, California

Hello folks, I am looking into adding battery backup for our townhouse as we are getting far too many power outages. Earlier this year and last year some power outages lasted over a day. So I am looking at having enough backup to power small appliances + lights + fridge for over a day. I will...
