Using Batteries as an MPTT source to offset ON PEAK demand needs

Yeah, there was another thread that was being debated. Do you need to have some "current limiter" inline to keep the "available" amps the inverter sees to the maximum it can handle, or, will the inverter just use the amps within its max limit on that line (i.e. self limit). Lots of options...

How to oversize the solar panel array so you don't wreck the system?

I think the hangup is how inverters do things. In your example, the phone charger is the inverter and someone plugs a hair dryer into it. Now the charger sees a load (OMG) and the charger "tries" to provide it. It's stuck at 120v so it starts raising the amps. If you are on a 15amp circuit...

Exceeding voltage or amps on SCC

And this is where I continually learn. Voltage is critical to an electric circuit, the amps is load driven, thus a device can only pull as many amps as it's load is designed. A short to ground (fault) is a design meant to handle ALL amps it could be fed, and is very good at consuming it. The...

Exceeding voltage or amps on SCC

I will have a 20amp DC breaker in the circuit, so, if a short does occur and a run-away condition exists, the DC breaker will trip. I do appreciate the guidance/feedback. Learning is listening, but also questioning....

Exceeding voltage or amps on SCC

I'm not trying to stuff anything. I'm saying additional AMPs are available on the line, amps can't "push" themselves into a load that didn't ask for it. Granted, you can have a short circuit or similar fault, but, that's not the point on this. Granted, I'm no Inverter expert and I'm learning...

Exceeding voltage or amps on SCC

I have no charge controller, I don't have battery backups and never needed it. My PV arrays are 2 arrays of 15 panels (QPLUS_L_G4_2_335-345_2017-01_Rev01) feeding the SUN2000 GTI. The GTI has 3 inputs, I'm currently only using 2. The question is more aligned with understanding AMPS/Volts...

Exceeding voltage or amps on SCC

I have a Sun2000 10KTL GTI. It has 3 PV inputs, rated for 360v@15amps for each input. I understood this to mean the inverter will draw 15amps, if available, with a planned DC voltage of 360v from the Array. If I plan my array to meet that 360v, that the amps on the line can be anything I...

How To Wire and how close to amp limit help please

Are we sure about this? I hear conflicting reports on inverters. If an MPTT input says 15A max input, if you have a source capable of 30amps, with the inverter draw as much current as possible until it goes POP?

Using Batteries as an MPTT source to offset ON PEAK demand needs

Theory and Seriousness, all a learning process. I have a Huawei 10K inverter, SUN2000 - 3.857.691011.4KTL-USL0 (10K model) that has 3 PV input lines (for 3 PV arrays) each rated at 15amps. I'm only using 2 at the moment, with two arrays of 15 panels each array with Power Optimizers on each...
