How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

The weird behavior happened again. The inverters were taking power from the generator but "AC in good" was blinking and they weren't charging the batteries. When I turned off the feed from the generator to the inverters and then turned it back on, they started acting normally. I think I know...

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

The generator is running at 58-59 Hz according to inverter meters, and the sound is pretty steady when under a significant load. BTW, this type of generator is supposed to be able to put out 6700 watts on propane but if I try to draw more than about 36 amps at 120 (4.3 KW), it drops down to 57...

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Ok, I've added the power fail alarm on an unprotected circuit so I will know if the power goes out while I'm working on my computer. That will give me time to shut down normally. Will update if there are any other weird events.

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

Yes, AC input amps were about 15 on each inverter. BTW, the behavior is back to normal on both inverters currently. I guess this will remain a mystery...

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

Yes, that's the way it always worked before yesterday. Let's see if it happens the next time, which should be later today.

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

I don't have an AC clamp meter. According to the inverters they were drawing about 23 amps at 120V from the generator.

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

Thanks for all the input. I should clarify that I'm 99% certain that the inverters were actually drawing power from the generator rather than inverting, for several reasons: 1. I heard the generator load up. 2. The yellow "inverting" light went off on both inverters when that occurred. 3. The...

Trace SW4024s AC2 input good light is blinking green but they are drawing power

Hi all, I have two Trace SW4024 units stacked to produce 240V as well as 120V. Everything has been working fine until today. However, I just ran a load test, obviously with the grid input disconnected, and found that the "AC2 Good" light continued blinking on both inverters even after they were...

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

The geothermal system is now on the inverters. Unfortunately the battery life is terrible (40 minutes of runtime) with everything running normally in the house and the compressor on, because the batteries are being drained at a C3 rate, far above the optimal speed. So the next thing to do is put...

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Ok, everything looks good now. Apparently the reason I couldn't measure 240V across two outlets on different inverters is that both inverters were being fed from the same leg of incoming grid power! This was easily fixed by my electrical guy. Hopefully he will be back today with the circuit...

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Ok, thanks. I need them on anyway so my house has lights and stuff. :)

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Do I have to power the inverters all the way down before plugging in the cable? I turned off the AC output but didn't shut down the DC into the inverters.

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Thanks for the response. My current 240V service doesn't go through the inverters, but is directly connected to the grid. The reason I want to change that is so that I can run my heat pump off the inverters, now that the soft-start kit has reduced the power surge in the compressor startup.

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

Thanks! Is there a way to check the hot legs at the inverters directly, without opening the cases? BTW, I also tried this with the inverters generating AC from the batteries rather than passing through the grid power, with the same result.

How can I tell if my Trace SW4024 inverters are generating 240V with the stacking cable?

I have two identical Trace SW4024 inverters with the same firmware (4.01). I shut down the AC outputs of both, plugged the cable in, and restarted the AC output. I noticed that the first one wouldn't produce power until I put the second on on "ON", which is what I expected. So it sounds like the...
