Has anyone used this drop in lIFEPO4 or taken apart?

Looks interesting... The "Don't use lead acid battery charger" warning sticker on the battery has me questioning if it's really LiFePO. If its a direct drop in replacement for lead acid batteries in a car... How does it get charged? A cars charging system is geared toward lead acid/AGM batteries.

The truth is lifepo4 is not a direct swap for lead acid. There are aspects of lead acid charging that if not handled will degrade a lifepo4 if left in effect over time. There is a lot of debate as to how bad, how long before things go wrong etc, but it's a real issue.

A lot of batteries that are stated as a direct swap for X really aren't. AGMs have different charging requirements to a flooded open cell battery. Gels are different again.

lifepo4 batteries being sold as direct swaps for LA has really taken off recently. Ebay and all the usual places are swamped with cheap 'drop in' lifepo4 batteries. Come back in a couple of years and I suspect there are going to be a quite a lot of unhappy people.

In the solar world decent charge controllers etc have charging profiles specifically for lifepo4.

*edit*
One thing to keep in mind when reading up on lithium batteries in general, they are evolving at a great rate of knots. Something posted 3 years ago about battery class X may well not apply to a brand spanking new class X battery with the latest whiz-bang ingredient.
