While the paper is now a bit old being from 2022 I figured that it may still be of some interest to people here. I believe the cells used were early trial production CY 18650-1500mAh cells which are afaik no longer available. They were later de-rated to 1350mAh like most of CY's lineup (When they weren't failing to weld cells shut properly). I am no expert on anything related to the mechanisms of cells, the paper concluded that the cell degradations in both cycling and calendar life follow similar mechanisms to that of traditional lithium ion batteries.
