There is now a federal investigation into why Tesla battery packs in the vehicles catch fire for no apparent reason.
Lots of talk about the wildfires in CA. Not so much the fires, but the fact that insurance companies are cancelling fire policies in light of the recent payouts. A few folks they interviewed either don't have insurance or are paying crazy amounts, like $19k/yr. New policies are not being issued in fire prone areas. Beyond the current issue of coverage, if you want to buy a home and it happens to be in a high risk area, your mortgage company can refuse to give you a loan if you can't obtain fire insurance. I know more than a few of our forum members live in CA. Are you guys (guys is generic for anyone, not gender specific, don't roast me....) having issues?
