Wanptek Official Store, AliExpress, are claiming that battery backlash/recoil depending on translation, is the reason why my bench psu failed after just a few minutes at 20A CC (27.6V). KPS3020D model.

They're now just sending the "Order ID - STATUS Finished" logo when I message.

Aside from the fact I appear to be dealing with rogues.

Has anyone else had problems with these units or this company? Any suggestions on how to handle this. It's beyond my 15 days.

I have a heap of batteries to try and balance and the summer is running out.

I don't have a mains power supply to connect to, solar is all there is here.

I'm trying to balance at 12V 4S using my old 12V 45A psu but that's messing with the BMS (JKB2a8s20p) as it thinks the previous cells are the new set and shows spurious data.

What was set up to be a straight forward operation is potentially going to leave me with no power for the winter and probably no heating as I will have to spend my firewood money to buy a new psu.

Unfortunately things usually don’t work to your advantage in Aliexpress. Best you can do is to contact your credit card company and ask if they can do something about it.

Any brand cheapo Aliexpress power supply failing is not any news, consider yourself lucky it didn’t catch on fire. I have took apart quite a few chinese/aliexpress power supplies and 90% of them would never pass the safety standards in western world. In best case they are just questionable quality instead of being total safety hazard.

Battery recoil?
Why does anyone buy from aliexpress?
I don't get it....
The whole "pay and hope something similar to what you ordered actually shows up eventually" model doesn't sit well with me, unfortunately so many people are ok with it that it's become the standard and is hard to avoid.

Big box, little board. 20A continuous seems a little to much on a supply only rated at 20A.

Credit card chargeback. You haven’t mentioned which country you’re in, but at least in U.K. and here in Sweden there are consumer laws which protect you and your payment provider is compelled to comply with them. A Chinese seller who already got their funds from AliExpress is likely to be altogether less concerned with their obligations under consumer protection law in a far off land, so the payment provider is the best route.

No need. AliExpress dispute resolution is as good as Amazon. Just open a dispute , if not resolved to your satisfaction Ali will revert the payment. They hold it for dispute period anyway.

Most bench power supplies ARE NOT rated to charge batteries. They are usually not protected against battery back flow into the supply

Secondly running the supply continuously at max rated output and it blew up. Funny that , did this not cross your mind , what do you expect for the money , Tektronik !

The problem here is not the kit it’s the guy behind the knobs.

I have 4 bench supplies from Ali suppliers , plus three DMM , a 500W electronic load , a variac , plus numerous other gear

All working perfectly for the last number of years.

It’s easy to blame the kit or China of you don’t understand what you are doing

How long is this facility available for? The OP implied he was outside the initial dispute period.

In my experience Aliexpress dispute system is about 100 times worse than Ebay.

Because there are some good deals to be had if you don't mind waiting, and most likely the majority of people have no issues. I've made about a dozen purchases and never had any problems. That said, there are certain things I won't buy there. Batteries, and anything over $100 or so.

You must register the dispute before the period , but the period will then extend as long as needed. Ali will not pay the vendor during any dispute.

I got acceptable LFP batteries. You can get Calb cells. Etc

So your comment that there is “no need” to use credit card chargeback is not accurate, since the OP said that the period for raising a dispute with AliExpress has already passed.

If you have not raised a dispute within the considerable time allowed , then all bets are off. Credit card chargeback is very hit and miss in my experience unless actual non delivery of the item occurred and you can show that.

I have a 10 amp Wanptek PSU.
Before I connect to a battery, I usually turn the output on for a few seconds, and then connect. The reason is because I think these have capacitors on the output. If you just connect a battery, it may charge the capacitor too fast. By turning on the output first, the capacitors are pre-charged.
