Thank you for the reply, the light is a 10Watt DC light and is used as a night light with a on period of about 10 Hours.
I am not sure if the COB can handle 24 volts and not burn up due to the voltage. I can test this later as I build this units
and or replare them all of the time.
Another...
I am wanting to upgrade my system from a basic lead acid to Lifepo4 and 100ah cells should be fine.
Cost is an issue and I have found these cells on sale here.
Does any one have experience with these cells and what a novice like me should be aware of.
Thank you in advance.
Greetings All;
Now that I have my base solar system upgrade out of the way it is time to look at my panels.
My solar controller is a EPEver Tracer 4215BN this is a 40 Amp controller with the usual add-ons.
At present I have 2-55 Watt panels wired in Parallel to provide me 110 Watts at 18.0 Volts...
Mr. Martin your math is correct, unfortunately my supplier does not have a panel with a Vmp of 36 Volts.
So basically this will not work. I will have to replace the panels or add 2-more 55 Watt panels to try and get it to work in the serial/parallel connection method?
Am I missing something here????
Thank you Steve, am now setting up an account with them to try and determine the real cost.
One thing more please, when you imported the cells how where they handled by Revenue Canada regarding taxation?
I no longer live in Canada but it will give me an indication of this added cost as well.
Thank You very true.
For me this whole process is a learning project.
My question still remains can one use a Daly 8S 24Volt BMS on a 12 Volt 4S system???
It is with a great amount of sadness and frustration that I have to report about a shipping failure by AliExpress and one of their sellers.
The seller in question is LiFePO4 battery 18650 battery Store . I ordered 4- Prismatic 3.2V 200AH 3C LiFePO4 Battery cells, the seller said
that they would...
I hope that I can get clarification on why I need a shunt on my system?
I understand the basic functions of a shunt and in my mind that is to work with a Amp meter to determine the amperage/current being used.
My system has 4-200Ah cells placed together to form a 12Volt battery.
On the positive...
Greetings, I will try and keep this short,
I have an existing solar system running at 12V's, a 200AH LiFePo4 battery, a100Amp BMS and a Tracer
Solar Charge controller (SCC) !
All is working well.
The issue is we are having many, many days of heavy clouds and rain and my battery is loosing its...
In my part of the world there are sellers selling 100AH and 200 AH batteries and the listing says the following.
( CALB lithium ion Lifepo4 12v GRADE A 200ah 4S 4 CELL UPS Battery )
I want to change over to Lithium I have a couple of images below:
Ion batteries in my solar system will these...
Hello Mike, thank you for the detailed description regarding the setting up of the MT50 controller.
The information that you provided is very helpful in understanding the functions of this controller.
However my current issue is in getting the MT50 that I purchased to take the voltage changes...
I want to thank everyone for there comments and suggestions that where provided here.
I want to keep this short but maybe a bit more information might be helpful?
I am retired and live in Thailand and have done so for 19 years now so funds are fairly limited and I have to go for real solutions...
I am considering upgrading my solar system from a lead acid battery system using 2-55 Amp panels connected in parallel with a cheap but good working PWM controller.
This system was set up about 2-years ago as a testing environment in my small workshop. At present the system has a 12 volt DC...
Model 110 Watt 12v Mono-Crystalline
– Maximum Power (Pmax) : 110W
– Power Tolerance : 0 to +- 5%
– Open Circuit Voltage(VOC): 21.5V
– Short Circuit Current (Isc): 6.56A
– Maximum Power Current : 6.12A
– Weights(KG) : 7.21 KG
– Dimensions : 1006x664x35mm
It makes sence to me that you are in fact correct.
The issue to my mind is not the connection points but rather the voltage or so I believe.
Thanks for your input.
Thank you all for the quick reply!
I have the cable in my hand as I type this the writing on the cable says DAIDO Welding Cable 35 Sq. MM.
I stripped the insulation off of the cable and used a micrometer to measure the copper center of the cable.
Of course when the insulation is removed the...
I started to read the information on the link provided and while I was able to follow it somewhat until I found myself drifting off.
Basically it is best to stay with the exact same panels when doing either a parallel or series connection.
My situation is not as bad as one might think (Me) as...
The cable has a double insulation material with the outside jacket being orange in color and the thicker inside insulator being black.
Other than what I have said and shown by the image there are no other markings.
The source of this cable is from a hardware store that sells items to the locals...
One last point it appears that the cable MIGHT be a #4 AWG cable even though nothing says that on the cable and the sellers of this cable know less than me!
Thank you for the replies it is much appreciated.
What would be the situation if I was to add to this new system 1000 Watt Inverter to test out this function?
Would that change the 12 to 24 volt equation?
Thank you for replying.
Here is the specifications that are on the back of each of the two panels.
Maximum Power 55 Watts
Operating Voltage 21.5 Volts
Short Circuit 3.28 Amps
Max Power Current 3.06 Amps
Maximum Voltage 18.0 Volts
Maximum System Volts 600Volts DC
Yes I went to every store in the area with the cable in hand and they either had none or lugs way, way to big.
As a side note I actually ordered in the past some lugs for this cable using the cable size as a indicator.
Obviously the lugs are way to large for use with the cable (The cable just...
