  • Post in thread: I am up and running. How do I best prevent shock when adjusting panel positions?

Just taking about adjusting to more direct sun once in a while. System is new so I am testing. Its ground mounted. might just find best placement and rarely if ever touch them.
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Thanks. I appreciate that a lot. And glad I will be using a wood stove cooker and not a regular dryer. LOL. So what Amazon product is this that gives you this detailed report?

    Got it! Thanks.
  • Post in thread: Hooking up panels to controller for the first time

Newb here. I was about to bring in the positive line from the panel into the controller box and realize I was probably holding a live wire because of panel light exposure. Do I need to cover the panels with a blanket or something first to kill the live current? Necessary or at least advisable...
  • Post in thread: How many panels and what voltage panels do I need?

Below are specs of some specs of 2 different panels I am looking at. What do you think of getting 6 of either of these panels and with three in a series, paralleling those two sets as you illustrated? If both work, is one set of specs better than the other for the LV5048 ? Panel 1...
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

First of all thanks a lot for caring to help! I see what you are saying. I got this idea for the components from Will Prowse suggestion. But I think you are probably right as I understand more and think about it. I am still a little confused though. I am going to be running a large chest...
  • Post in thread: Are my batteries too low to start my Growatt 3000 LVM 48p?

I have two of these batteries using in series as a 48v. One reads 24.9 and the other 23.5. Everything has worked before. Connections seem good. Did I ignorantly let them get too low so I can no longer even charge them with the Growatt? If yes, easiest way to rectify? These use anderson...

  • Post in thread: Are my batteries too low to start my Growatt 3000 LVM 48p?

Growatt will not power on? Yesterday when it did, it gave me a 56 error code which is a battery connection error. I reconnected batteries a couple of times and tightened up the battery connections to the inverter....nothing.
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Hi.There are so many of the MPP all in one models with variations, I am a little lost. Waiting to hear back from MPP Solar but would love some input here on the forum. Trying to build a 5kWh off-grid system. Will be connecting 2 of the 24V in series LiFePO4 Powerwalls which are 3kWh each...
  • Post in thread: Building residential OG system and would like confirmation/correction/improvement tips and advice

Hi. Our home will be using around 4 to 4.5 kWh a day. I believe what's listed below is sufficient power and energy storage for this goal and is a good choice. Yet I could certainly be missing something and am open to any improvements/suggestions. Besides cables, connectors, and mounting...

Do you happen to know if the LV 2424 Hybrid is the exact same as the 2424LV-MSD except that it adds hybrid capability? It looks the same, but I don't know. The reason I ask is it is almost exactly the same price and the shipping is much sooner.
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

yeah green one .. just wanted to make sure it was just as good . I was looking on eBay and they both ship from Hong Kong.
  • Post in thread: Hooking up panels to controller for the first time

well I know a little more than I probably on. thanks for the concern. I will be careful. Right now I have 6 305 watt panels.
  • Post in thread: Are my batteries too low to start my Growatt 3000 LVM 48p?

Need to contact Growatt and battery company tomorrow to address all of this. I will probably reply tomorrow or by Tuesday.
  • Post in thread: Help connecting panels

Do you use OCPD should a panel fail?
  • Post in thread: How many panels and what voltage panels do I need?

Hi. I received this information about the panels I was considering below. Does this tell us anything about potential cold temperature issues? NOCT 45°C(±2°C) Voltage Temperature Coefficient -0.29%/K Current Temperature Coefficient +0.05%/K Power Temperature Coefficient -0.39%/K
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

Jose, I see the 3048 LV - MK model is like the same price as the 2424LV-MSD. Isn't 48V significantly more efficient and how much do you think this really matters? If the same price, which one you like better?
  • Post in thread: I am up and running. How do I best prevent shock when adjusting panel positions?

Can I just shut off the panel breakers going to charge controller and inverter? This is easiest but don’t know if it prevents a shock, Or must I cover each panel with a blanket?
  • Post in thread: Help connecting panels

Interesting, never heard of this. I will read up this to learn more. Thanks.
  • Post in thread: How many panels and what voltage panels do I need?

It can get down in the low teens in December January and February, especially at night. Then there is wind chill that makes it even colder. Can you help me do the calculation under these conditions so I get it right and don't damage anything? Also is there an option just to turn off solar...
  • Post in thread: Hooking up panels to controller for the first time

I should have mentioned I do have a combiner box with 3 15a curcuit breakers and 2 25a breakers. So I understand. However just didn’t know if it was “standard safety practice” to cover up panels when connecting if load is off. It certainly wouldn’t hurt and is easy enough to do. However I am...
  • Post in thread: Help connecting panels

I am somewhat of a newbie and have these six 305 watt Sunpower solar panels that are a few years old. They have connectors that I think bare slightly outdated. Please see attached pictures of the connectors and for panel info. I learned that for setting this all up, I must initially connect two...
  • Post in thread: Help connecting panels

Is this midnite combiner box for the purpose of safety? Also would you have any idea of how I connect all of this in terms of connectors and adapters? The six solar panels I have come with TYCO connectors which are fine for making the three series, but I am still yet totally lost in how I...
  • Post in thread: Hooking up panels to controller for the first time

I just connected the batteries to the Growatt and nothing else. These batteries have built in breakers. Why would this product be producing a burning smell?
  • Post in thread: I am up and running. How do I best prevent shock when adjusting panel positions?

Thanks everyone. By adjusting I just mean the panel positions. Some background- Each of the panels are 305 watts. They are wired in 3 series of 2 panels. Each series has a proper 15a breaker. Panels are grounded. They use MC4 connectors. It’s a 48v system. Obviously the wires are well...
  • Post in thread: Which MPP Solar model is better for my system?

A large chest freezer and separate full-size fridge/ freezer combo and lights and some computers and the occasional odd appliance like a coffee grinder or blender. Its just two people, maybe three. I decided to go with 1 PIP 3048LV-MK with the two Lif 24V powerwalls wired in series. I will...
  • Post in thread: I am up and running. How do I best prevent shock when adjusting panel positions?

Wow I am very surprised that shock would increase with batteries and controller off! Are you sure about that? My other question if you or anyone knows is, what is considered a good pv input voltage to see on my real time controller display in direct sunlight? I have above average efficient...
  • Post in thread: Help connecting panels

Thanks. Is a series connection between two panels as simple as one negative to one positive?
  • Post in thread: How many panels and what voltage panels do I need?

Hello, With my goal to build a 5khw 48V system, I am looking into using 2 of these 24V LiFePO4 Powerwalls with an MPP Solar 5000w 48vdc 120v/208V/240V Split phase Solar inverter 80A Dual MPPT charger. The reason I am considering 48V is because of lower cost and better efficiency. Since, I...
