EG4-6000XP Time of Use (ToU) configuration?

I'm having a hard time figuring out how to configure Time of Use (ToU) on our EG-6000XP. Could someone explain what setting I need to make in the web app to set this up? No PV connected. Just using it as a UPS. Thanks

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

Interesting idea! Didn't know that the motor snorkel existed. Thanks.

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

Extended storage and not needing to run it dry are why I want dual-fuel.

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

The 201052 is unsuitable for the powering of sensitive electronic devices due to its high THD (<20%). Too bad this one isn't dual-fuel.

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

That's one of the neat things about the 6000XP. You tell it what you have on offer from the generator, it does the diff off the batteries if the loads exceed that number. Chargerverter looks like a solid product, but it's hard to justify in the scenario I want to provide coverage for.

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

Given how often I'd need to use it I'd like to keep the total spend under $1k. According to the manual the 6000XP wants a THD <3%.

Cheap Emergency Dual-fuel Generator for EG4 6000XP Recommendation?

Recently had a 2x 6000XP + 2x PowerPro installed to provide emergency UPS backup. The batteries should give us ~2 days of backup, but just in case the grid is down longer than that I'd like to get a small 5-8kW dual-fuel generator that I can drag outside and charge the batteries. It shouldn't...

Powering your house from a V2L-capable EV

Yep, you can certainly buy ICE generators that are also not suitable as home backup solutions. I wouldn't use a 3.5kW generator for that either. I mentioned it because you can get 2x the solution for $245.99. The Hyundai V2L adapter is $259.99. The key phrase here is "below the V2L power...

Powering your house from a V2L-capable EV

Just trying to clarify what V2L is capable of, and what it's clearly not. If your goal is to keep the fridge online, but don't care about HVAC, sump pumps, using a hair dryer, or running the microwave while also doing that. It will work. The key point is that it can power a 120V critical load...

Powering your house from a V2L-capable EV

"Works" would need a very narrow set of use cases to be accurate in this case. Yes, you can provide "up to 1.9kW", but in the context of normal house loads that's tiny. It works in a pinch to keep your fridge online, but it's not a real solution to home energy storage. It's a feature that...

    New Hybrid Build Planning Discussion

We just bought a lot, and have started the planning phase for an all-electric passive house. All the design, sizing, build work will be handled by professionals, but I suspect that they won't have much experience doing what we want because there isn't much demand for a grid-tied-off-grid-capable...
