Charging small LiFePO4 (home built 12 volt UPS)

It's a bit more of a search here in the US but I think I've found a supplier or two who has small power supplies like that. Is it really as simple as just setting the output voltage on that power supply to an appropriate voltage (14.2?) and hooking the battery up directly to its output?

Charging small LiFePO4 (home built 12 volt UPS)

That's actually a bit large for what I'm considering. Here is an example of the battery I had in mind...

Charging small LiFePO4 (home built 12 volt UPS)

That is the intention! The router doesn't need 120vac anyway. The second part of it, the "programmable charger" is where I am trying to learn. It would be quite easy to just run the router off of the battery. I just need to figure out how to maintain that battery in a way that the battery...

Charging small LiFePO4 (home built 12 volt UPS)

Hmmm... OK. Thanks for the thoughts. It sounds like the charging part of it is going to be the most demanding part of the whole thing and that my little wall wart probably isn't going to get the job done well. I think I may have confused a BMS with an actual charge controller. The...

Charging small LiFePO4 (home built 12 volt UPS)

I am wanting to build a small 12 volt UPS, specifically for and only for a household router. It runs on 12 volts. There are some lithium ion powered 12 volt mini UPS setups out there for not a lot of money but I had wondered if I couldn't do a little better than that. Reviews on them suggest...

Do all sources of shading affect panel performance the same way?

Thank you for sharing. Lots of data there. I hadn't seen that site before but I'm pretty new here.

Do all sources of shading affect panel performance the same way?

This thread is about as close as I see to what I am wondering about myself so I didn't start a new one. I'm hoping one or two of you guys have already been down this road. I've seen Will's video comparing several solar panels and in order to "shade" them for testing purposes, I think he placed...

How to set up exhaust fan in greenhouse... on a budget

Thank you all for the input, and the actual experience doing what I'm contemplating. It is helpful! It also sounds like it need not be all that expensive, either, which is great! Yeah, those motors / fans will make some noise. In their automotive applications, pretty much no one cares about...

How to set up exhaust fan in greenhouse... on a budget

Hmmm... each of them should be pulling about 120 watts so I'd guess they'd be running a good bit slower from just a 65 watt panel. (??) One thing about it, they'd run much quieter. Interesting.

How to set up exhaust fan in greenhouse... on a budget

Interesting link at Amazon. Same fan as an electric automotive cooling fan and cheaper without the little "Solar" sticker slapped on it. I've wondered about using something like those. They move a lot of air for not a whole lot of electricity. Here's a question I have about a setup like this...

How to set up exhaust fan in greenhouse... on a budget

Grid power would be handy, no doubt. It would also be over $2k before I could get the little dancing power company electrons. Plus, I really would rather not have another electric bill. It sounds like I might be able to go the AC route with panels, charge controller, and inverter but I'm...

How to set up exhaust fan in greenhouse... on a budget

I know what I want to accomplish but I think there are multiple ways to get there. I could use some advice in sorting it out. Goal: Greenhouse exhaust ventilation. What I need to happen, I need to move air when it is hot. It is hot when the sun is shining. It is not hot when the sun is not...

Half cell panels... do they not play well with MPPT charge controllers?

Thanks, guys! I appreciate the feedback. :)

Half cell panels... do they not play well with MPPT charge controllers?

Thanks! I was kinda hoping it was either a typo that got corrected later on or I read it wrong.
