You are correct.
I had a 350A Class T Fuse between cells 8 & 9 because the AS/NZS 5139 standard indicates the Arc Flash Incident Energy hazard can be reduced by 50% with an over current protection device in series in middle of battery string.
The AS/NZS 5139 Arc Flash calculations are based...
Victorian regulations may be different to WA but look at: Grid Tie ESS with DIY LiFePO4 Battery in Australia - Regulatory Issues?
Also be aware that any Grid Tie Inverter may be required to be listed as Clean Energy Council approved Grid Tied/Grid Interactive Inverter depending on your local...
Have just received a shipment of 8 LF280K cell from Amy at Luyuan.
Unpacked first box of 2 cells and noticed they show some convexity on long side and concavity on short side.
Interestingly, the convexity on one side not directly opposite convexity on other side.
First picture shows top of...
You can use the Victron ESS Assistant but it does require a Cerbo (or Venus OS on a Raspberry Pi).
ESS will prioritize Solar then Battery then Grid. Grid will provide overload current.
I assume you will have the Grid Tie Inverter on the AC Out of the Multiplus.
With Victron ESS & Fronius you do not need to use frequency shifting - see the Fronius Zero Feed-in option in ESS. It uses a direct communication connection between the Cerbo/Venus & Fronius for the Cerbo/Venus to...
I assume net metering in Maine means being able to export to the grid some kwh and draw those kwh from the grid at a different time at no cost to you. (Net metering means different things in different parts of the world.)
Victron has an option in the ESS configuration to allow/disallow Feed-in...
Possible workaround.
A user based in NZ on the Victron Community blog has installed numerous Victron systems & is mostly subject to the same standards as Australia, has been using a Grid Protection Relay to 'protect' the grid and overcome the regulatory issues with Victron.
So I asked my DNSP...
It seems that a Grid Protection Relay will disconnect the grid using the settings in the previous post - those settings have a wider tolerance than the Australia A Grid Code settings in VE Config. This suggests that a Victron will probably disconnect from the grid before an approved Grid...
Thanks to all.
It seems I may be trying to solve a problem that should not happen - BMS failure allowing overcharge or overdischarge.
Agree that as long as charge & discharge parameters (in charge & discharge devices) are within cell specifications, a BMS failure should not be catastrophic.
Received this cell as part of a 16 cell shipment - no damage on external/internal of shipping box suggesting this dent was there when packed.
Suspect it is OK - does not look like it punctured housing, IR & voltage are in normal range.
Intend to capacity test this one outdoors just in case...
If I understand your question correctly, you are wanting to know whether a non CEC listed battery such as Growatt Hope will be classified as as a DIY battery.
It depends on who 'they' are.
A Growatt Hope could be catagorised as a pre-assembled battery system under AS/NZS 5139 if it meets the...
Yes the Factor 1 rule has been considered is which why there are two Multis in parallel to give a total of 6kw on AC1 Out.
Also I had considered a Multiplus II GX but decided to go with a RPI based Venus GX because I like the challenge ( :) ) and wanted a separate device for flexibility. One of...
Have completed individual full cycle cell testing for 16 LF280K cells which demonstrate an average capacity of 307Ah (Min 305.3, Max 308.4, SD 1.1Ah).
First full charge to 3.65v resulted in about 220Ah charged for each cell. Appears they were shipped at 21% SOC Nominal.
On completion of...
My naturally cautious nature leads me to ponder BMS failures because they are critical to any LiFePO4 battery build and are a single point of failure.
AFAIK Mosfet based BMS may/could fail with the Mosfets stuck in a charge or discharge state thereby leading to unpleasant outcomes.
Is this...
So something like this:
With this wiring:
And these steps to enable Bypass:
The benefit of the Load Connect Switch separate from the Bypass Switches is that in the event of Grid failure, the Multiplus II will disconnect AC2 Out but it gives me the choice based on expected PV and battery SOC...

Readings for Cell 9 in the attached video are the culprit.
Whilst charging with above 35 amps to 55.2v (3.45v/cell), the voltage is 'reported' to be widely fluctuating. Other cells also fluctuate but not to the same degree.
'Reported' because 2 different multi-meters across...
There is no load - not yet connected to Inverter/Charger.
BMS is cool (about 24C).
BMS is turned on. When turned off, I wouldn't expect to get any readings across the BMS.
I have managed to at least get a quote for the installation that includes inspector approving.
However, after me having agreed to go ahead with the quote, sparky has gone quiet for a few days. :(
Have requested a DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) quotation from Cassie Wang at Shenzhen Qishou Technology via Alibaba messenger.
This is the quote.
16 pieces EVE LF280K total price -- USD 1648
Shipping cost - - USD 390
Transportation mode - - DDP
Shipping time - - 55-65 days
DDP to Australia
Total...
Is the reason for this statement that Cell 9 voltage is calculated by the BMS using measurement points on Cell 8 +ve terminal & Cell9 +ve terminal?
Why would the reported voltage be erratic if they were not the same resistance/conductivity? I could understand it if the voltage was consistently...
