just installed a B2A8S20P and was wondering about the self consumption. Do I understand from the tread that its about 65mA when active (without balancer active) and a really low number (how low??) once the BMS is put to sleep using the pushbutton 5-second thing??
Thnx
renogy advised me that the delta between boost and float voltage needs to be at least 0.3v. tested and that is correct so transitions to float as designed...
getting arround 19.9v from the 3 panels in parallel - so well above battery voltage. will give it another go after a full reset - but tried that many times before...
as a challenged user of a DCC50S with BT-2 (and Victron BM712) and after reading this thread can I ask you guys to verify my understanding of the workings of the DCC50S??
My setup is quite simple - couple of panels connected in parallel - total 560W connected to a DCC50S feeding a DIY 280 Ah...
Running a Renogy DCC50 feeding my 280Ah Lithium battery in my van. Using a custom charge profile as the default Lithium profile charges to 14.4v, a bit high for my liking, and doesn't do any "float"
I've checked the low temp cutoff - don't want to fry the battery when it is at or below 0C - and...
Voltage Sensitive Relay - programmed to switch on and off at set voltages - in this case the battery low and battery high voltages that make the DCDC disconnect
I have one of these units and can confirm it "boosts" voltage just fine. There is a protection in the unit that prevents it to take input from a really low voltage source (battery or Alternator) - but once you hit that limit it will output as per spec (or your set voltage should you want to...
note that the temp sensor, the low temp charging cutoff, doesn't work in the "user" battery setting. It does work fine in the standard Lithium profile...
information quite current - tested it myself this morning by dipping the temp sensor into a cocktail of ice and salt. Lithium profile will stop charging at about 1C. User profile does not - not even at -9C.
USER profile does not include the low temp cutoff - Lithium profile does. trying to get some support from Renogy to make that configurable. your batteries shot??
unfortunately your story confirms that I'm not that strange as I never rely on the insulation capabilities - especially as the manual states that the DCDC "will charge the starter battery if there is surplus solar power". Good old VSR or Ignition relay is what I use...
BTW well done to get a...
understaffed and not really up-to-date. Had asked Renogy about the possibility to program the user setting for a DCC50S with BT. Response I got below. Good to read that it works - even if finicky - even if the OEM denies it does...
Hi Dennis,
Thanks for your email and sorry for the late...
no problems with overcharging?? What voltage did you set the cut-off voltage?? does the unit just stop charging when it reaches that voltage or does it do some level of float??
thnx
Dennis
