yes the new 30a. controller can charge 24V too. Your place looks like somewhere a film should be made. Something starring Billy Bob Thornton and Tommy Lee Jones.
Hi,
We now have a second 12.V 105A "Deep Cycle" battery attached to our 330 Watt solar panel.
After leaving the inverter switched off during the night, we had full sun between 7am and 9am ( we are near the equator, in Nicaragua), and the charge controller went up to 14.7 . V.
We then...
Thanks for your replies, I don't know what kind of batteries I have , I will check , and also upload some photos of my controller and inverter.
The engineer who installed it two years ago, told me to try resetting the controller by taking out the wires going into the controller from the panel...
Thanks, he is sending me the tech manual for the panel tonight.
Does it
go against us that we have a 12.V parallel setup with two batteries? Is 24 V. series connection always better? do we lose out by having 12 V ?
Thanks, he has a 30a. for $150, waiting for him to send brand name and photo.
If our panel is compatible (he says it is), will we be able to add more panels and batteries later if we want?
Thanks, you say "a 30a controller will do it", but it means we won't be able to add more panels ? Maybe I need to ask him the price of a 60a or 80a controller. :)
Hi
Thanks for the time you took to reply. I would like to reply to your points and ask some more questions if that's ok?
The make of the Inverter is OXD - SSK 2000 @ 110V. It says DC 12V to AC 110 V and 50 HZ.
We have LED lamps, each about 5 Watts, total 10 hours per day and evening...
Hi, thanks for accepting me, we had our system installed yesterday but have a question. We live in a very hot country, Nicaragua and 3 days ago had installed a 330 Watt solar panel plus 12.V 105 AH battery ( Deep Cycle) and a 2000 Watt converter. Today we left it charging up to 1pm and the...
Bump... I tried to draw more current from my inverter than it was able to provide, by using an 800 Watt power drill. Now the battery is not charging beyond 12.5... is there anything I can do to reset it?
Thanks very much for your detailed reply, in fact we have two batteries each 105 A. They are connected in parallel. We do notice big fluctuations depending on cloud, and your table is great as we are close to Masaya, in Granada.
We have the cheap blue CMTD charge controller. And we only turn...
Thanks very much for answering my questions, it's very much appreciated.
Our fridge is an " LG Inverter Linear Compressor"= 75 Watts.
We have managed to cut our consumption down, thanks in part to being more aware and careful with our usage, and in BIG part to your advice about not using...
Thanks,, if we just get the 30.a controller now , and stick with the 1 panel for now, can we later just switch to 24. V with a new inverter, and then add more panels? Or would we then need a new controller too?
It is 1pm. There is nothing plugged into the solar and the inverter is switched off.
It was showing 12.7 V when we switched everything off, it is 1pm and there is full sun here near the equator, but there is no sign of any charging taking place now.. And there are only four out of five bars...
Sorry, I just saw your explanation above in the first post, about " mushy" voltage .
If the charge controller is now showing 12.7 V after three hours of running the fridge, does that mean we have reached our "quota" for the day?
We had hoped that two batteries instead of 1, would allow us...
Thanks again Michael, yes the 13.7 V and 14.5.V was when we switched off the inverter in daytime. We will make your suggested adjustments , thanks again. Joe
I didn't see your post there Sunshine_eggo, yes when they installed it , they had a problem with it and called their office, so we couldn't hear the conversation. They went ahead and installed it anyway. Perhaps it is faulty ....
It could well be the cheap PWM controller. Could you recommend...
