isn't editing your post after you realize you said something that should not have been said, or said in a way that your now realizing was taking completely different than intended... so you re-write if for better clarity.....are those not all a good thing? (aka..... self moderate).
Never...
appreciate. Battery monitor just not obtained yet. These rack batts do have individual monitors on them though so I can watch them. They are getting close to going under 60% right now.... thus the questions. I have had them for 4 months.
yup talking about theirs. I've purchased a Plus version as well. Looking at setting up an install configuration service for mostly Overland rigs with his product(s) once he is able to secure more mass production
anyone else got thoughts on the BBMS concept? Looks like with my scenario in needing Lead still in an aux. bank (cause of large electric winches do not like Lithium in general) with an alternator made to handle heat of full working load in the heat of Afghanistan in the middle of a fire...
back to alternator charging 24v.
to save time when reviewing prior to offering some input....... feel free to just skip posts 21-28.... they're a distraction / hijack of the thread that offers no value to the topic. Thanks. Look forward to your input.. some great input in here so far.
thanks.. I'll look them up
200map Alternator is sorta OE, it is off a hummer. Same manufacture.. different dimensions/output. The 100amp Niehoff alternative to swap onto the APU is the OE.
any yes... it is an LMTV and alternators are beast built by Niehoff. the 200 amp as described in...
yeah ..... like I said..... kind of stupid to throw away a perfectly good charger and pay big bucks for a new one when all that is really needed is a controller.
Great input folk...... keep it up... after we hash out the possibilities... and why they work; we will move on (in a new thread) to solve the next world problem ;):p:)
seriously.... much thanks... look forward to more comments on this alternator. vs lithium
am aware not reaching full charge is not advantageous.
The first mode is bulk... so if I set that voltage not 28.8 what would you recommend? I am not aware yet of what voltages represent 90% or 80% for example. Manufacture of battery recommends above 60% minimal.
like minds. have had similar in mind. cant decide yet. example... with solar you HAVE to park in the sun. I like trees, cooler habitat in the shade. Wondering if I can (for non traditional campsites... aka boondocking) have my system with 4 legs. drive camper out from under it... move...
Finally found the manufactures website and this has gotten even weirder. These are advertised a ten amp MPPT's. One model that has an IR remote included. see solar street lamp controllers in below brochure. (I got these cause in my setup IP68 is very important) . Models I purchased are the...
A BMS in part manages the cells within a lithium battery; bringing them together in a tight happy dance. In part manages few other protective things too. A BBMS manages BANKs of Batts like BMS manages cells. BUT.... it is designed specifically to bring two different banks (lead and...
12V/24V lead acid, 3 strings/6 strings ternary lithium battery, 4 strings/8 series lithium iron phosphate, can be set
what does any of that mean?
String?
ohhhhhhhh....... I think I figured part of it out. the "output current" in the brochure is not about charging..... that is the rated output to the load/lamp wire such as use for street light.... or. electric fence orrr....
Waiting on their reply about the remotes which appear to be...
not going to be going lipo..... my choice..... not up for debate.......
I have a very high amp (ex miliary 12/24v) battery isolator. 500 amp. My alt is about 24v 150amp.. so I have lot more charge input potential available. I also will have an APU with its own 24v alt..... as well as...
thanks... no desire for blue tooth or apps.
amp hours is my wonder..... not amps.
nothing except my alternator(s) goes over 100amps in my system. Nothing over 36v ( 28.8 nominal?). so sounds like my lead I can monitor minimally with old school amp/volt meter??? and use the Drok on my...
This is relevant in here too.
Also they now sell a soft Start to convert conventional RV and other ACs to something solar/wind-- battery stored elec. systems like more (progressive roll up and down of compressor instead of hard start on.... and off)
based on much research I ordered one of these as well ... a used ebay one at a good price. Got all excited.... then few hours later after more research.... I canceled all I ordered.
why???
.All the documentation says this works with "any alternator".... None of the docs. say you have to...
. I have a 24v " NOT very SMART" alt. with plenty available power amps. Likely 115amp / 24v available when driving AFTER start/truck batts are charged in daytime (it's a 150amp alt). Since the trucks lighting system is 12v (there is another 50 amp 12v alternator source built in) then even at...
yeah that was part of my thinking in how going thru first a lead batt bank large enough might could buffer things some before they connect to a lithium.
little confused by this..... yes mine puts out up to 28v.... so your saying use 36v lithium batts as house bank or is lithium 12v batts not really 12v.... but some are actually more... such as 15 or 16v?
what relay are you speaking off? a battery isolator style? (in my case I have one)...
