My mom lives three hours from us. I go visit her all the time but my wife is reticent to join me. My mom is not the tidiest person in the world. My wife found seaweed six inches tall growing in the Keurig machine water holder thingy. So we just bring the 5er. She lives in the country and we...
What started me down this nutty path of big blue shiny stuff was when I installed a Victron smart shunt and found this rat's nest:
My electrical OCD just couldn't handle that. So I redid the whole system. This is what I took out:
That rat's nest was replaced by about 10 ft of wire. Now I...
Here's my wiring diagram:
And a pic of the inverter installed:
So simple. The second wire from the top is AC in from my power reel. I just used the existing 6/3 Romex and cut in a 50A breaker then to AC in. Then I just hooked up the other end that goes to the power panel to AC1 out...
Went out to the 5er today to do some things inside. It was 65 deg F outside but inside the trailer it was 77 deg F. Time was 1500 and it was a clear day. So I powered up the system, turned on the solar and one AC unit. AC was drawing 1200W and my solar was cranking out 1200W. So I got free...
I have pulled 286 amps for 10 minutes from my 2 12v 206Ah SOK batteries. I have pushed 60A into one and 120A into 2 for long periods. Go on the SOK Facebook page and there are multiple tests on the SOK BMS that indicate it is capable of way more than SOK states. SOK even says they are...
I redid my RV system moving the batteries. While I was removing the existing 4/0 battery cables I noticed one of the wires was not tight in the lug. So I gave it a yank and the cable came out. I thought I had redone all my crimps with my Temco hydraulic crimper but must have missed one. So I...
I drunk bought a Temco hydraulic crimper. I have used the Temco mechanical crimper, the one that uses a hammer that Will recommends. I have 4/0 cable and all seems well with the crimps. Is there a compelling reason to redo all the crimps with the Temco hydraulic crimper?
Dangit, why did I click on this thread? Just ordered the TH0005 set like you did. Now that I am pushing 300A through my cables, I want the best crimps. I have been using the Temco mechanical crimper.
Was out at the camper doing some testing of my new Battle Born current limiter. It works great and my BMSs never go into protect mode now. No precharge required.
I know I can run one 15k A/C off my Champion 2500 inverter genset, but it cannot run that with the residential fridge. With the MPII...
Finally got my MPII 12/3000/120x2 in and got it installed and working. Why didn't I get this in the first place?
Hookup is easy:
AC in from my shore power, AC out to main panel. That's it. No sub panels, no transfer switches. Other than 6/3 Romex being a beast to work with and the Victron AC...
I installed my Lynx distributor today and decided to replace my Blue Sea 250A circuit breaker with a 400A class T fuse. The class T fuse holder is from Blue Sea Systems and the fuse is a LittleFuse 400A class T. Got it all hooked up and tested DC only, Solar and low power AC. All worked...
For your 30A rig, the Multiplus 12/3000 would be a great replacement. For now, just drop it in and enjoy. When you upgrade things later, you will want to come back and ask about upgrading wires and such.
And yes, the blue mist will suck you in. It's a nice place to live, but it will cost...
Finished cleaning up my install. I ended up removing everything including the batteries and painting the whole compartment with high temp paint. I also added Lynn wool behind the components. Should be all set until I decide to change something else.
Got the 1,2,1+2 switch installed. Works a treat. I forgot to hook up the precharge and turned the batteries on and the first one went into protect. So I set the switch to that battery and the solar reset it. Awesome sauce! Now I need to build my little boost pack with the buck converter so...
I have a curved roof, too. Had to use aluminum uni strut to attach the 200W rigid panels on my roof. Only way I know that works. I also used tilt mounts but I will never tilt them. Just made it a lot easier to install them.
