If you have a look at the spreadsheet you'll see my presumed SOC is fairly consistent over 2 months so far, I am recording these readings in view to fine tune the BMV settings if they start to deviate.
When I say as quickly as possible, that is not over any recommended charging rates, it is as quickly as possible within allowable charge rates. The most I'd be charging at the most it would be 0.25C but would usually be closer to 0.15C.
Can you point to some references in regards to charge rate...
Hi, I am using the SOC relay in a Victron BMV 700 to control a contactor which switches the pv panels to my chargers. This way I can charge my batteries with a high voltage and have it stop at say 80% SOC to increase my battery lifespan. This works very well. The only issue is that I need to be...
I have just learnt that I needed a driver for my USB Serial connection. Now the PCMaster software is working after I input the battery capacity and voltage parameters. Even the bluetooth app is now showing the SOC increase as it charges.
I have tried using various combinations of bulk and float voltages but I found the float always kicks in way too early and even if it is set a a high enough voltage the amps get throttled the float stage progresses.
I have noticed the same on my system (ms5048). Float is initiated way too early and the amps are throttled. That is why I'm thinking of just charging on bulk but have the BMS control the system. The problem with this is the power spike that occurs when the charger is disconnected when it is...
Just finished an upgrade to my system to optimise things a little.
The goals I had were:
Prevent the BMS from shutting the inverter down when it goes to high disconnect. Voltage spike caused by BMS shutting down high currents tripped the inverter occasionally.
Charge lithiums to SOC not voltage...
Because of the the flatter voltage curve for LIFePO4 the MPP Solars will go to absorb and float too early on the lithium settings, maybe on 12v they're ok but the 48v are not. For example the low voltage disconnect setting for Lifpo4 is so close to the normal operating battery voltage that the...
I think part of the problem is the charging algorithm is designed for AGM so with the flat voltage curve for lithium the float triggers earlier than we want. I wish I could find out the actual algorithm they use but I don't think that's available.
I turn float off by setting bulk time to 900...
I agree with most of what you said. I have changed my setup since. I found an industrial contactor which I control with the relay in my Victron BMV700. The BMV700 relay can be triggered by battery voltage or STATE OF CHARGE (how cool is that?) it even has hysteresis settings. So I just set my...
Hi mehohler, my bms is working and balancing but the SOC on the bluetooth does not work (it only shows the batteries discharging and will only reset to 100% when a high disconnect voltage is reached). And I cannot connect to UART via my laptop, I can't see the usb port
I have a few MS5048's and I have the same issue. What I have done is I have put a contactor on the solar input side which is controlled by the SOC relay on a Victron BMV700. It works a charm but I have since discovered there is another solution. Some folks downunder in the AEVA forum have...
Hi, I have two MPP 5kw inverters in parallel but I also want to conserve power and I only rarely need both units on.
I have installed a current sensing relay to turn on the second unit when the current gets over a specific threshold, I have an additional timer relay to keep the second inverter...
I have 7kw solar, 2x MS5048, 500 amp smart Daly, 2 amp balancer, 2P16S 280Ah LiFePO4.
I am trying to keep my batteries between 20-90% SOC for longevity but I want to get to 80-90% as quickly as possible.
Setting up the charging voltage at 56.8v and letting the BMS stop charging at say 53.8v or...
Hi, have you checked all your parameters using the pc software ie balancing start voltage etc. It seems that changing the settings in the app is problematic. I have used the app to change settings and it seems to work but even though the battery capacity and voltage settings in the app were...
I have just used the bmv700 SOC relay to turn a contactor on and off to control the PV power into the charger, works a treat. I can charge to 80% without it going to float or having to use a low charging voltage.
No I can't, all I can set is my max charge current and my charging voltage. Yes I want to have my charging voltage at a reasonable value so I can get the amps into the batteries but I want to stop charging at a lower battery voltage. I know with more expensive chargers anything is possible but I...
I bought a Daly 200 amp smart BMS and could not get it to work, I got my money back through AliExpress and I bought the 500 amp Daly smart BMS and could not get it to turn on. I knew my wiring was correct because I have been using a 200 amp PWOD BMS for a few weeks without a problem. I tried...
I haven't used the new firmware yet because I used alternative solutions to the MPP shortcomings. If I had know before I implemented my solutions I would definitely have had a fo at the new firmware.
