It has no ESS/batteries combination yet to meet UL 9520 2nd edition 2020 ? It's cool that the inverters are CEC approved, but ....I need compliant batteries to work with it.
Will's systems and most youtubers are not code compliant.. Most places will have to meet UL 9520 2nd edition 2020 for the ESS (tested as a system) . I am also finding a lot of the batteries are claiming that they are "certified as UL9540 with "X" model inverters"... but they are not...
haha don't tempt me you could ship me a UK direct inverter for it as well lol.... I'm actually half British my cousin is visiting in October,,,, luggage stowaway?
They seem very rare in the states, was looking for them I think with solar they should become more common... at least while electrochemical batteries are still costly.
The storage bricks are like scrap in the UK, I wish I could find some here in the U.S... but maybe I will just use other...
You need to find the UL listing docs for UL9540 2020 2nd edition for an ESS, it will list the inverter and the batteries that were tested together. Then you need to look at the CEC list. Some Ess's have this particular flavor of UL listing but are not on the CEC list yet although they could...
It's a pain to get access to the UL database, usually it's the battery manufacturer that gets the testing approval, so go to the battery manufacturer and ask them for a link to the doc. Also google the keywords "UL 9540 +pdf + SGS+Intertek+ the battery maker or inverter" SGS and Intertek are...
My wheeled genny , ive already modified with a wireless start and choke , choke is actuated by a door lock actuator. I can add auto choking (lol) by several different strategies. It't wireless just so when I am walking around doing projects it' save time walking back to genny. I'd probably...
Code Conflict? (2020 NEC) : 690.31(b) "...(B) Identification and GroupingPV system dc circuits and Class 1 remote control, signaling, and power-limited circuits of a PV system shall be permitted to occupy the same equipment wiring enclosure, cable, or raceway. PV system dc circuits shall not...
May help some people.....
Got a message from Pytes today Jan 4 2024 : " Our Forest 12K and Forest 15K(E-Box 48100R with Solark inverter)have been approved in the CEC energy storage system list."
(I recently rcvd my 18kPV ESS... but this was my next choice...cheapest two ways in for a...
yep, a lot of the youtube solar presenters fail to even briefly mention the code side of things. they say "for off grid" ...but most non grid connected systems need to meet code requirements like you mention.
For cars, I have built 1/4" mesh galvanized hardware clothe "roofs" I did this rather than a rain proof roof because it requires less structure since it is less of a "sail", it probably all suffers less impact because of the egg slicer effect ;-) . Hard to say what size hail it will help...
I'd probably leave the protection up year round as I doubt it will effect output much (could always add a few panels instead). If I did deploy/remove it would just be seasonally. The framework of the structure would probably be the more significant shadow caster vs the mesh. Tensioned...
The 18kPV - Powerpro ESS now has UL9540 3rd edition Certification it seems, I'm trying to wrap my head around that vs 2nd edition...which is what it seemed was required before. Does 3rd edition do away with the the need for 2nd edition? (for an ESS)
I hate to ask, but I my searches were unsuccessful .... I saw a thread where someone was talking about the Powerpro only heating the cells while charging... anyone know where I can find the thread?
Thanks for all the help, Congrats on getting PG&E approval!
I found the certification documents for the Solark/Pytes combo ("Forest 15k") as an ESS for 2nd edition UL9540 ...... did you ever find it in the CEC California approval Database list (I couldn't) ? I'm just trying to get everything in...
