Hi Everybody!
Especially to you with crazy visions, time, energy, and money to put into making clean sustainable mechanical dreams become real.
Also to you that only want to put your dreams into fantastic designs for others to get inspiration cause
In this crude world, imagination kicks ass...
I'd like to know how many (active) members are here, and what the monthly growth rate of this community is?
Does DIY solar forum have enough potential to become big enough to lobby for higher quality world shipment procedures?
Update as of April 24 2022:
From Counting and approximating guesses...
I think the problem relates to expensive batteries in particular. It's scary to buy especially now with China in Covid lockdown and Ukraine Invasion. I will use local resources first before I contact Alibaba or Ali-express. My main DIY Solar project is about year of into the future anyway.
I think DIY solar forum is too small to be able to make a difference at this point.
A lot of people are investing in getting rid of Chinese dominance as we speak, but as for now we're stuck with getting our LiFePo Batteries, Solar chargers, Neodymium Motors and BMS:es from there.
It makes it...
There are for sure patent trolls. Especially in the USA, but they specialize in abuse of the legal IP system. The link I quoted is from a Company that actually assemble LiFePo4 Battery Banks in Australia according to another memder of DIY solar Forum.
Could it be that The Blade cell specs on the website above are wrong to start with?
All the cellers I see on Alibaba says weight is under 3kg per cell and meassurements are
according to this picture from a recommended seller with warehouse in Austin, Texas.
I just did: 1602 pages x 30 = 48.060 Member ID:s
approximating ID:s with non all non zero scores: 8*48.060/30 = 1602 * 8 = 12.816
from counting average result of 3 pages: 12.816 active members.
Lets say that 4/15 of these are ( Am I optimistic? ) Very Active: 3417 Members.
I think the DIY...
F Ex. Specific shipping handlers, Specific vessels, Delivery Service usage. We could start making white point lists and / or dark points list tables.
The point is that we want to keep the relation to the sellers at a "Non heated" level, and try to keep track on the whole chain of events that...
Please note: This thread is not about supporting specific vendors, quite the opposite
It is about receiving the stuff we order preferably on time with a good parcel tracking procedure, without having it all banged up
from underpayed forklifters and postal or delivery staff, and having to rely...
I am Daniel 55+ Recluse, Gender-less, Originally from Scandinavia, I find my self on the streets of Tel Aviv after years of travelling across Canada (and USA).
refusing to buy into any "Israeli" or "American" Dream.
My "crazy" build idea:
I Plan for a specialized "home" designed and built solar...
Best way to make use of these cells IMO is to send a 16s Construction CAD drawing over to some Chinese experienced handy man in Shen-zheng and then have him ship the finished welded + BMS:ed structure padded inside a hard wooden box back to you... Shipping these cells loose over half the world...
The REAL world is full of organizations and persons that influence others into making radical changes in their lives. Some for good, others for worse. DIY solar Forum is a result of such a person. Elon Musk is another. Jack Ma Yun a third.
What is it that you think we cannot have IRL and why is...
Hi y'all. New to forum and Solar 2 Battery in general, I am based in Israel. In Israel It is difficult to start prototyping since we don't seem to have a good DIY community. Here it is generally considered that our government should solve all our problems together with University professors and...
I am slowly planning to set up a Solar work shed in Israel.
As a humble beginning I will be using flooded Lead Acid in combination with locally sourced
Panels, cheapest possible chargers and inverters.
When I finally set this up, I may very well find myself Off-Grid far away from any DIY solar...
Some related threads to ponder over as a crossreference.
This list may become longer as I stumble on more Relevant DIY battery cell chemistries.
The reason I posted this thread is in the general DIY solar section is that when you look into actually manufacturing your own
battery cell...
I'm in Israel. DHL would ship here, but when you buy batteries It has to go by Truck or by boat. My experience is shipping books from Israel to Scandinavia took about 3-4 weeks over 10 years ago. (Opposite direction was not doable beacause of insane pricing.)
Thanks for reply? Ali-X?Big pile of complaints for good reasons. With Chinese Japanese and big multi million dollar organizations prioritized small customers are serviced late. Of course you too need to give in evidence cause staff need their back free towards their supervisors, but wheither...
I Thank all DIY Solar Forum Members for informing me about the toxic hazards regarding LiFePo4 chemistry specifically when put to use in propulsion of an Ocean Capable Sea adapted vessel.
While LiFePo4 chemistry was developed and patented by Michel Armand for Quebec Hydro ( Canadian Energy...
I want to know what happens when that nail goes in Sideways, cause in real conditions with presumed 16s assembly and mounting in EV flooring, that is how they 're going to get stabbed.
Hats of to those building a Solar work shed, that don't have curious kids looming over and about their cool looking solar equipment. I am a bit taken back by the toxicity and scarcity of LFP cells. I was hoping to get my fantastic world circum-navigation project on wheels in around 4 years time...
Can you show me the origin of this information.
In the video above it's stated that Redox Flow Batteries exceed LiFePo4 cycle life count by a factor of 4 or so.
Wikipedia states:
"While it has technical advantages over conventional rechargeables, such as potentially separable liquid tanks and...
I would only trust a full box with each vertically shipped cell foam insulated from the neighbor, packed sideways. Foam on bottom foam on top in a Full box with a plywood lid. The above is not by far good enough.
