Be careful with the investigator. Who knows if he is only looking to find any way to shed bluetti of liability. I'm not saying conceal anything, just don't let him put any words in your mouth or reinterpret what you say.
I doubt Will wants to be the proverbial nail in the coffin. just go back and read this entire thread. It should be enough to make an informed decision.
rent a truck and try not to blow yourself up? lol...i cant imagine you finding anyone licensed and insured that will do it cost effectively. for the batteries, a box truck rental will probably do it for you. for the gas cans i would go for a vented/open haul truck (pickup) or something similar...
I would not answer their question. I would reply politely communicating that you have no interest in their referral program, and would just like the quote you requested.
See what they say. If they want to try and shove their referral program down your throat, move on to another supplier.
Just...
I used 1/0 with appropriate lugs for my "flexible bus bars"
While I could do it, it isn't the most practical to try and put the sense wires in the middle of these. Had I used flexible copper braid and been heat shrinking them myself, different story.
Don’t let that deter you. Offer up. “You tubers” are no different than anyone else. What I mean by that is there are misunderstanding and/or ungreatful and/or trolls and/or just plain mislead/mistreated people everywhere. It’s just part of life in a severely broken society (yes, we have a broken...
To add to the benchmark, I have a 40ft charter bus conversion (not complete yet). It does run full bore all day and the very front and rear of the bus stay warmer during that time (the inside unit is mounted in the center of the bus in the "living area"). But it's enough to make it bearable (not...
if I am purchasing commodity cells directly, correct. If someone else is packaging them up and claiming they’re taking the risk for me and charging me for it, then your logic no longer applies. BB is taking it upon themselves to make those cells into battery packs and claiming they are perfectly...
To heck with SolArk. Just because the company claims to be all about veterans, doesn't mean they understand what it means to be about American ideology. Sick of good causes being used to put money in <insert appropriate adjective here> people's pockets.
They're outsourcing to china for MFG for...
I was trying to help you in your search for a good analogy. That's what you said you'd been looking for, right? Hope I helped. If not, feel free to ignore my post.
As a final thought: the first 8 cells I charged and tested individually, then top-balanced myself. The last 8 cells i put in series as 2 12v batteries and charged via mppt solar controller. the last 8 cells ALL rose within .005 -.011 v furthest deviation. at the end, (14.2, 3.55v per cell) the...
Charging up the last of 4 12v packs. Second to last has been paralleled to 3.63 and will now sit in parallel config for 24 hr. No abnormally weak cells identified, and no runners. After balance, charge and discharge cycle, first two 12v packs‘ cells stayed within 10mV of each other (during...
I can’t wait either. Can I borrow a flux capacitor to speed up the delivery process? I may not have a 1.1 jiggawatt battery bank, but I’m certain I can find a clock tower and a lightning storm....
I don't blame you for being angry. I've always looked at renogy as a budget electronics company. I purchased 2x renogy charge controllers through Amazon, and I did not have any problem returning them. No restocking fee. Maybe the lesson is if purchasing renogy, go through amazon where you won't...
Lithium really isnt meant to be floated. lead acid likes to sit full, lithium likes to be cycled, or at the very least they don't want to sit long periods of time at a high state of charge.
Their response is too quick. They didn’t take the time to thoroughly investigate. Perhaps it’s multiple problems, not just one. Given their track record..I do not trust a 2hr response unless this was already a known issue. Has anyone seen a recall or announcement for the safety of their...
You're not acknowledging the difference in chemistry. LifePo4 is not NMC. I believe NMC is what teslas use. Lifepo4 is considered the safest of the Lithium chemistries. It does not cascade. Search the forum. There are several examples of lifepo4 fires in comparison to other chemistries on video...
here is all the equipment used in this process, no equipment was harmed in the making of this series. ?
second pic is of my power supply naked.
update on the charging cell: settled to 3.48v and held. Now saturating to 3.63v (slightest adjustment changes too much even with fine knob). When...
Hello all,
I am new to this forum; however, after scouring several of @Will Prowse videos and reviewing the information held on this site, I just purchased 16 pieces, Lishen 3.2v 272AH battery packs from dongguan lightning new energy technology on alibaba. My total price was just under $1700...
One more note: If I were going to use LifePo4 in your application, I would not replace the starter battery with it. I would add it to the vehicle with a DC-DC charger, and then wire my amp(s) directly to it.
That said, seeking car audio advice on a solar forum may not yield the best results...
It's true. depends on your application. Mine is mobile (in an RV). Flexible to keep stress off the terminals is what I was going for.
Edit:
Also, I've been over my system with a thermal imager. No hot spots means good crimps. I'll be inspecting it regularly, mainly pre and post travel.
Looks like that’s for the AN series. IIRC the BN series is the one Will recommends. I have a couple I plan to test for my system in a few days. I bought a remote panel, too. Makes it easy to program them. I’ll let you know how it goes.
I would be less worried about anal-retentivability ( ? ) and just give yourself a conservative estimate of about 65AH @ 48v. Now you have some padding for that anal irritation.
First capacity test of a 12v pack complete. 283AH. I am quite happy. Started capacity test of another 12v pack. Hopefully tomorrow or Saturday I can test my solar equipment by recharging the first pack. Picture shows me putting some juice in, but just enough to keep it comfortably over the 2.5...
Second 12v pack completed the capacity test. The pack pulled 284AH.
Part way through the test I found a cell off by .2 volts. I stopped the load, disconnected the BMS, pulled the bus bars off the misbehaving cell, cleaned the terminals, checked the voltage, found it to be back in line with the...
We shouldn't be putting blind faith in anything, period. Experts are supposed to be experts because they understand the details and minutia related to a given subject matter. They should also be citing relevant references and source data to support their conclusions, whatever those may be. There...
120v
I'm wired for 50a service. L2 is currently capped and unused.
All loads are 120v
The 4024 is a 4kw 24v low frequency inverter. It has a dual input transfer switch (shore and gen), can operate in inverting, ac pass-through + charging, or charging only modes. It syncs wave forms for...
well one things for sure, when all is said and done, you‘ll be qualified to work on your and anyone elses’ system....You‘ll be a professional ee and will be out snoobing snoobler.
Looks exactly like upnorthandpersonal's drawing. The advice you got here is just fine. Show either drawing to your solar guy. Add numbers to the terminals in the pics. If he tries to say that's not acceptable, I would ask for a concrete reason why and I would ask to speak with someone else in...
Excited to announce I made the purchase of most if my electrical system components.
Less than $1700 on (this is whats in the picture):
1x Evo 4024 inverter/charger
1x Evo 4024 remote
1x class t 350a fuse kit
2x class t 200a fuse kits
2x spare 200a fuses
(ordered 2x spare 350a as well, but are...
Depending on which one you get, it does. If program via bluetooth you can set any value. Otherwise its a choice between various pre-programmed settings.
Its not necessarily about recharging, it's about carrying the house load while going down the road. If I have a powerplant consuming fuel, I want to take full advantage of that consumption.
Even if it wasn't an AIO, as long as the SCC is connected to the same DC bus as the inverter, the electricity is going to flow wherever there's a deficit of voltage. If solar is pumping in 40A, and the inverter is drawing 30A, the remaing 10 will make it to the batteries. If the inverter was...
its rated for 24v nominal. it has an interrupt rating of 1500a @ 28v dc. i would search their site for a contactor suitable for your application. i paid 125 a piece. ups ground was free, but there was a 17% covid surcharge (or something like that)...so yeah :/.
ok, not trying to confuse the two or make a reference to isolated vs non, but in a b2b alternator charging system, ensuring that the chassis batteries are isolated when no power is supplied by the alternator seems like an important feature to note (unless all b2b chargers have this feature...
Actually, maybe this is depending on which distributor you go through, but don’t they usually preconfigured the equipment for you with the victron stuff? Not sure what made me think that.
And there is the other reason I asked for the specs ;). pretty sure the answer is yes, but lets just make sure. You can find those specs on the victron website. google will probably bring them up.
i’d suggest maybe reaching out and asking for more information. Maybe they thought you meant arranging them in serial as opposed to parallel (perhaps a brainfart on their part?)
Certainly is a mystery. If a Lishen defect, then its possible (this is pure speculation) that the defect isn’t making itself noticeable until a certain event, for instance a few charge cycles or until perhaps the terminals or terminal areas are stressed enough or in just the right way.
I still have a big red (blue sea) dual circuit battery disconnect, but I’ve got a cool led precharge light too... ?? I’m laughing at the ridiculousness.
@Steve_S @curiouscarbon @cinergi
thanks for yall’s input. because of it, my plan modified to a time delay release, then with encouragement from cinergi i went back to gigavac’s site and perused more of their options. i ordered 2 - mx12sa contactors. they are bidirectional, support 200a...
Bad cells and poor Qc on the part of both lishen and BB. I mean seriously...how do leaky cells get passed both? perhaps I know how they got out of China.....they’ll sell anything. I would expect BB should recognize this, too.
Disclaimer, I don't make it a habit of using cheapy terminals from walmart nor am I advocating it. I had them and wanted to illustrate that you don't have to jump through hoops to get good crimps. You do have to have the right tools and know how to use them.
So last time I did that test, I'd done it multiple times in near succession (pics failing troubleshooting) and got a whole 2 pics. I redid it with a working sd card in the imager and was able to document more data. Here's the data:
1 test, 10 minutes long, resistor started at about ~76 degrees...
You have to me remember that this is a DIY forum and there are a lot of newbs learning this stuff, who make newb mistakes, both in installation and configuration. It should also be recognized that this is a somewhat new technology to the mainstream. Things aren't quite as refined as the old...
Disclaimer, Just speculation here. wondering if these inverters were designed by solark, then sourced to China for MFG where china’s IP laws are grey... Poof, the plans are stolen and used for sale to other companies. Probably another reason to be careful who you deal with when outsourcing mfg...
Buy a $60 10amp variable power supply off amazon. refer to the top balancing resource. Just note that you won’t be top balancing. You can also buy a 35a aims charger off Amazon for about $230 ish.
Frankly, bud, your perspective is jilted and off-kilter. What is your argument? "Solar isn't worth it, recycling isn't worth it, the end of the world is nigh, global climate change can't be stopped, just accept it and consume as if there was no tomorrow?"
We consume raw materials and/or fossil...
@justgary before you get too deep into this, maybe ask and answer the question: why don't floridians have basements/cellars as is common up north in higher elevation geography? I don't know the answer, but I'm sure there's a good reason...
