If I were doing that project i would temporarily compress and then fiber tape them. I would use flexible busbars and build into a premade case that resembles a battery. If my project was not 8s that's what I'd have done. I'd probably consider 280ah cells as better cost per ah especially when...
They make actual manway hatch covers for the concrete tanks. You need to get the right lid and risers. Ours is for holding rain water and we added a yard hydrant where the core drill is set up. Round risers could be for vent or ??? Ours had 4" PVC boots in the corners for the gutter pipess...
Cells arrived today from Amy Zheng/Jenny Wu @ Docan. Ordered 12/22/21. They "shipped" on 12/24/21. I say "shipped because that screwy deal where the label is created but the package hasn't entered the system yet. The actual ship date that they hit the TX UPS system was 12/27/21 with an...
Can't help with how to remedy this but the way that the ones I received from Docan were packed you would have to try really hard to damage them. They have special foam that isolates them.
Put your generator battery on a maintainer. Ours lasted 11 years that way. In the end I replaced it before it quit. Starts the generator weekly for exercise.
Even a 2 amp active balance is really only 1 amp equivalent. It's about a 50% duty cycle charging capacitors from the high cell(s) and then discharging to the low. Takes time to catch up once the cells fall out of balance.
Current plan is 8S 24v 280AH using a JK smart BMS with bluetooth. I'm also considering a secondary heads up display display. Something that a friend or family member can look at and tell me what the status is if they do a check in. I'm wondering if I should do the whole shunt/meter thing or if...
Just my $.02 but personally I would focus on the PV and grid tied inverter and then come back and look at the expensive stuff like battery building. Let the grid be your battery. Yes if you lose power you'll be SOL, but a Honda EU 2000/2200 would be a good thing to have anyhow.
Delta remained very steady and low across 27v and started to climb above 27.25. By 28v my high cell shut down at 2.64v while the delta was across .241. I changed my numbering and resumed charging with the active balance on. Plan is to get all of the cells balanced a second time and test the...
Use a board or something to spread the load. i put some small dents in the cases of mine where the rubber pads of my clamps made contact. I used shelf liner in double layers.
I'm told by Hankzor that this is a fake site: https://www.jkbms.com/
That the ENJ Power app is not what I want even though it seems most are using it. Jikong is what I need and the logo is close but a bit different.
At any rate the Jikong app does link from the QR code on my BMS, but I...
I had my hands on that one at Home Depot yesterday. Also a Dewalt. Both were tempting. The Rigid lid comes off rather than hinging though and the wheels take up a bunch of real estate inside. Construction I'd consider so-so
I found the same android 12 issue but app version 3.7.5 does work.
As for fluctuating current reading it also does this when charging, maybe a bit less. I really like this BMS. It would be nice to have this aspect fixed.
I started looking at Big Battery but too many issues. Also considered Chins/Ampere time. Neither of these had decent monitoring or low temp charge protect so now I am looking at building my own. Given proper instruction I can build about anything. My hang up tends to be analysis paralysis so...
The breakers are in a midnite mnpv3 combiner box. Again I have no idea why I get an occasional trip but it only happens in winter so I assume it has to do with temperature and/or partial snow cover on the panels. It's a cabin and nobody is there when it happens. Two pair of panels in series...
Yeah winter time sub zero °f it's not practical to heat the shop that warm especially with radiant floor. 62°f vs 77°f isn't a huge difference.
Active balance off I assume and just see what it does? Right now my delta is running around .006v and capacity around 80% according to the BMS.
OK that got your attention. What idiot would try to equalize a Lithium battery. Hear me out for a bit here With all the discussion of where to start active balance, and battery life I got to thinking about this as a way to periodically top balance. Maybe the term EQ could be replaced with...
I actually filed a couple quick strokes on them.
I suppose I got ahead of myself in that I grouped and taped them together, but I have them in 2 groups of 4 so I could just rearrange the busbars.
I figure I'll charge up as a pack and then re-top and retest cell #1 and maybe one other for...
I have been finding that it shuts off on me when I am not there. The only way to get it to go is to switch off the load, then the charge controller will fire back up run. If I flip the load back on it shuts down. There were some odd errors a while back I think possibly about ARC but those...
Recommendations on a good compact, reasonably priced portable inverter that operates selectable between 12v and 24v inputs?
I've been wanting one for 12v to say 1500-3000watts, but having 24v input option would save me running my little 100 watt load tester for 3+ days.
The batteries stay put. Heat set to freeze protect in winter and stays there so long as the pilot does not go out which only happens if it is VERY windy or if we have a long winter and I run out of propane in spring.
Right now I have a huge poly box and my 4 pcs 430ah lead acid. I'd have...
Just wanted to follow up. I did order a replacement BMS. I also went to work on the balance wires starting with the ring eye terminals right at the cells. I had good luck then it quit again. Then I remembered the responses here and unplugged then replugged the BMS end. Not sure the how and...
So it's a hardware and not a software issue? Mine jumps around plenty and continuously even during charge while my Midnite charge controller shows nice stable current. I sure would like to have an accurate reading at very low currents to see my idle loads. My magnum inverter has a shunt of...
I cant say for sure what grade cells I received for my EVE 280's, but they were all right on at 3.294v. A bit expanded on the cases, but clean and new.
