Thank you both for helping me, I am still learning about this. Yes they will be top balanced I've just started that process the other day. I am assuming that top balancing and having the smart BMS is going to keep them balanced but I will of course check them often. So I should have no runaway...
I've just installed 1120ah of lifepo4 and have a 250ah 8D as a starter/backup. I've got 620w of solar now with plans to upgrade to about 1500w. We live on our 44ft monohull. Someday I'll have electric watermaker and instant hot water heater and maybe some AC and we also have an electric...
This clears up a lot thank you, knowing that the charger does actually go into float rather then stay in bulk/absorption, which I can/will test later.
I ordered way more capacity then I think I'll ever need so i don't think I'll be discharging it very low. Sailboat application, I have 620W of...
I'm researching for doing a system for my boat and I don't have many loads but I figured 600ah would be enough for a few days and 800 would be nice and 1000 a dream..... but you're taking it to a whole new level... 1240ah!!! How big is your boat? mono or cat? are you running ACs? Do you live...
You've got a lot of power there and it doesn't look like you're using that much of it, you must have future upgrade plans to add some aircon or something?
Further to the conversation I'm leaning towards using the AGM setting on my inverter/charger instead of the LiFePo4 setting because of the lower voltages, does this sound like a good or bad idea?
There is a group buy thread near the bottom of the main forum page but you'll want to give time for people to join and advertise your group buy in several places.
Expanding on this line of thought. I am just getting started with setting up 16x 280ah cells for 12v and my thoughts were to have 4 separate "batteries" in a 4s configuration and a BMS for each one. I'm using the smart BMSs from ali rated at 120a with 3x10awg wire leads in and out. I want the 4...
I wrestled with the same dilema myself a little while back. My battery bank will be for my sailboat and my biggest sailing trip this year is happening in 2 weeks so I waited too long and then the shipping doubled/tripppled in cost and now here I am begging for a group order to save a few...
Good to know thank you.
I'm sticking with 12v for simplicity, it's for a sailboat and everything runs off of 12v and I don't want to fiddle with extra equipment when I can get wire at a descent cost and the wire lengths are actually quite short.
