  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS 4.5" LCD display

@Nami, 30cm (the length of the default cable) is not adequate for ANY installation! The 4.5" display is a remote display, NOT something to be located immediately adjacent to the BMS. The ability to easily extend the cable in the field is a must.

I am going to simply move forward with extending the cable. I am going to divide the provided pigtail and terminate the ends with CAT6 RJ45 connectors. I will then use a CAT6 extender cable. I will post what I find. I will be kicking off this project once I get a set of cells inbound from...

sorry for the delay in getting back. The project got sidelined for awhile. I have returned to building it out and I can report that extending the 4.5" LCD display cable is completely feasible. Turns out the display gets all its data via RS485. The wires in the display cable consist of...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS 4.5" LCD display

If you look carefully to the right side of the display connector on the circuit board, the pins are clearly labeled. Starting at top is VSS (top 2 pins but only one of them is used) which is the +12V wire (red). The bottom 2 pins are ground, but like the VSS pin, only 1 of them is used. The...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS 4.5" LCD display

I ordered the 4.5" LCD bespoke to the JK-B2A8S20P BMS (including -H variant). My question at this time is to @Nami regarding extending the included, very short (30cm / 12") LCD/push button cable. My thoughts are to use CAT6 cable to extend the distance between the BMS and the LCD display. I...

did you select the LiFePO4 button at the top of the screen prior to attempting to change the values?
  • Post in thread: 8 cells - same BMS or can they be different?

When you do a 2p4s config (ie 4-pair of cells with each pair in parallel and then the pairs connected in series which allows you can use a single BMS to achieve a 400A, 12V pack. However, the BMS will NOT be able to balance below the pair level as from it's perspective each pair is a SINGLE...

Andy used 123456 successfully during his initial setup
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Andy (Off Grid Garage) ran into that same error. It is due to the default config being set to 8 cells rather than 4 in your setup. You might rewatch his review as he ran across a couple of other little gotchas on the road to getting it working
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Nami, I have two, B2A8S20P-H on order (building two, 4S, 310AH packs). I plan to use the heating pad feature. Could you provide a schematic of how to properly connect the unit heating port? The heating pads I will be using are 12V, 12W (ie 1A) devices so they are within the specified limits...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

Thanks for clearing up the red and black wires on the heating port pigtail. Has anyone determined if the JK BMS records the current being drawn thru the heating port?

  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

I also received my pair of the B2A8S20P-H BMSes and a pair of the 4.5" LCDs today. Each component was in its own box packed with minimal bubble wrap and then all 4 boxes were in an overpack box with no additional packing material. There was no shipping damage to anything thankfully but the...
  • Post in thread: Is the JK4S and 8S the same?

if you need additional current handling, use the heating pad port on the BMS to control a higher current handling relay. The cost is minimal and it gives you options even if you don't use it immediately.
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS

I have been in contact this evening with Hankzor regarding the interconnection between the B2A8S20P BMS and the 4.5" LCD display and they have clarified that what is stated on their webpage does NOT apply in this situation and the RS485 port is NOT used in any manner with this display AND the...
  • Post in thread: JK 4S 200A BMS 4.5" LCD display

The ONLY current that is being delivered via the CAT6 is for the display, which amounts to 250ma at the most and the voltage, be it 12v or 24v is inconsequential. Remember we are talking about extending the cable between the BMS and the display and NOTHING more. It is my understanding that the...
  • Post in thread: Off-Grid-Garage - better than NETFLIX -- :-)

Found it odd that you mentioned the "oil show" was happening in Midland. I grew up in Odessa (escaped as quickly as possible) and The Permian Basin International Oil Show was held in ODESSA, Oct 18-21, not in Midland. I won't delve into the political quagmire of the Odessa/Midland rivalry, but...
  • Post in thread: Is the JK4S and 8S the same?

this is the JK BMS you need B2A8S20P. Order from Hankzor on AliExpress Yes, it handles from 4S thru 8S configurations. IF you want the heating pad option be sure to order as such (-H suffix)
