I thought I'd log my first build to keep up with what I used/spent/done. This is a simple test system to teach myself how the theory and concept works and hopefully one day have and off grid system. These are components I've had a while or just purchased because I've been planning on doing this...
On the monitor side, this worked perfectly. The only thing was that the "power USB" GX plug didn't work. One of the regular USB plugs did. Popped right up, no resolution problems or adjustments at all. Touch screen even works...
First up is trying to get the Victron Cerbo GX working. The Lynx shunt 1000 was fairly easy and the MPPT 100/30 really was because bluetooth shows right up in the Victron Connect App. Not so with the GX and being a typical end user reading the 153 page user manual for the GX...
In my old (automotive) days I was taught to keep batteries away from things hot like heaters and open flames. Mainly because they were open lead acid batteries and the fumes they release were flammable. With the advent of sealed, AGM and LiFePO4 batteries should this still be the rule?
My 24x24...
UPDATE: Added two more batteries to the setup but I haven't installed them yet, just ordered them under the Black Friday sale. I need to learn to "top them off 4 & balance them" It was easier with just two. Connected them together for 24hrs. I have one of the Renogy 100w panels plugged and...
Update: got a set of panels (100W 50x2) mounted on the wall of the building. 44 degrees for my location in December. I swapped from the panels sitting on the ground to the panels on the wall. It showed no PV voltage at all. I checked at the panels and was getting 21.16v. Back to basics. Found a...
I'm reading up on components and wiring for my first system and want to make sure I don't let the smoke out of anything.
Can you have too many fuses-shunts-switches-battery protects in a circuit? Example: From the battery to the Victron Power In module (into the Victron 1000 Shunt), do you...
Just getting started. A friend passed away and his wife gave me all his solar project toys. I've always be interested in doing this and he an I talked a lot about it.
My question is what matches, what do I keep or divide into groups so I don't burn anything up during the learning process. I'm...
If there’s a down side that would be one. Although they make 90 degree HDMI and USB adapters to help but not hide. The other side is that it does not require AC adapter for power like tablets. For the price difference it works for me. Nice alternative not tied to another OS Or app. Comes...
This is my first (test) system to teach me about solar systems. I have questions and need help before I hook this up to loads. It's working but I'm not sure about protecting it.
1. What amp fuses do you recommend for A, B, C, D?
2. What T-Fuse would you recommend for E
