Heres some pics of my install. Solark12k, evaultmax 18.5, 32 x 340w qcell panels. Did the whole thing myself. Drew the plans with a pencil and ruler and got it all permitted etc and inspected. Good times...
  • Post in thread: Sol Ark 15k conduit and gutter trough

6x6 will be too cramped for a 15k. You want to use a 12" so that it sticks out far enough on the wall to drop all the conduits straight down. And also plenty of room for battery cables and battery bus bars etc. Big battery cables and bus bar will not fit in a 6". Mine barely fit in a 10". I...
  • Post in thread: Dual sol ark 12k build

Started with one battery and sol ark. Ended up with 2. 12,000 w of panels powering it all. Ready to tell the utility to come get their meter.
  • Post in thread: Calif cuts subsidies

They want you to buy batteries. And they want you to have an inverter that they control and can use your battery to sell to the grid whenever they want. Thats the plan. Make you pay for their storage shortfall.

Naw, 90 is just right. We swim at night a lot and its better if its warm. On a really hot day about 85 is nice. In the off season when the weather is cool, the pool feels better at 90. Pool is new this year also along with all the solar junk. Been a busy year. I was saving for a new house...
  • Post in thread: Calif cuts subsidies

Heck you dont even get credited at the same rate on the most recent net meter 2.0 They went to time of use here to make sure you pay double from 4-9pm when theres no solar. They are already getting over on us. Its just going to be way worse. They just throw in some woke buzz words like "fair...
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

9000w is more than you ever use? Its not even 9000 really its 4800w per leg. Its actually pretty easy to trip a 12k unit if you are running any big appliances like a water heater or clothes dryer and then try and make some toast or whatever. Ive got so much junk to run I dont think a 15k...
  • Post in thread: Double sol ark 12k question

When the grid goes down they stop backfeeding the main grid tie panel so that should be fine. The way my house is setup, there is a 200A solar ready eaton main panel thats grid tied. And the house has its own 100A sub panel, and garage has its own 100A subpanel, and anotner 100A subpanel for...
  • Post in thread: Sol Ark 15k conduit and gutter trough

Heres the inside of the box.
  • Post in thread: DIN rail mounting components?

I used DIN mounted IMO DC switches to disable the PV array outside my home. The inverter sits inside the garage on the other side of this wall.
  • Post in thread: Solar hillside

I have posted pics of my solar install before here. I recently added more solar but these ones flow water. The array is 50ft x 13ft and next to it is an electric solar setup with 36Qcell 340w panels powering two solark12ks and two evault max batteries. The water rig is keeping my pool at 90F...
  • Post in thread: Wow, just exceeded maximum array wattage.

Yep, mine do that too. Clouds clear and bam 110% of rated output.
  • Post in thread: Dual sol ark 12k build

Yeah they are lobbying the CA energy commision to approve that. And also turn net metering down from the current 80% return to 20% return. I would be grandfathered in with the net metering agreement though. New users will be screwed. The power company absolutely hates solar.
  • Post in thread: Calif cuts subsidies

I think its bs to say others are paying for your solar installation. You paid for it.
  • Post in thread: Sol Ark 15k conduit and gutter trough

I realize that. But its gonna be cramped and look silly under that giant inverter. Sometimes its better to go big and do it right the first time.
  • Post in thread: Neighboring off-grid homes

Because 240 is your only option for AC. Im just making a general statement. Of course it wont necessarily be whats needed for this guys particular problem. But generally speaking if you are doing long runs and PV is involved, you run the long runs with high voltage DC not 240V ac. Thats...
  • Post in thread: Solar hillside

Hello, i used sunstar solar panels 13ftx4ft each, 12 panels total. I think helicol is the same parts made from the same factory. The pool has a pentek controller and theres a jandy valve and temp sensor that take care of switching on the solar panel flow. The whole thing sits on corrugated...
  • Post in thread: Average Consumption?

That just means you are living life to the fullest! Lol If you can run it all on solar who cares? I make 100kwH a day on solar panels. Theres excess power but not if and when I get an EV.
  • Post in thread: 240v well pump -> offgrid

The meter does do inrush "max hold". I have another 2HP above ground booster pump that reads 44 amps surge so I think the clamp is working. But I will try it again. The well pump has a start cap and run cap in a box above ground and it may be one of the soft start grandfos pumps. I need to...
  • Post in thread: SolArk EMP question

Hello, sorry maybe I mispoke, I am asking about the ferrite cores that supress noise on the lines and dampen emp spikes.
  • Post in thread: 240v well pump -> offgrid

I figured out my clamp inrush setting and retook measurements. 47amps inrush on the well and 44 on the booster pump.
  • Post in thread: 240v well pump -> offgrid

Thanks. My water is at 100ft and pump is sitting at 640ft. Well never draws down at all. Theres no reason for me to have a 7gpm pump. I think a 13 or 18 or even 25 would be totally fine on a 2hp motor. Im even considering going with a 13 or 18 and a 1 or 1.5hp motor. I know thry put this...
  • Post in thread: 12kW on BOTH Sol-Ark 12K

Good points Thats a heck of a battery. You must get more cloudy weather there. I live in san diego county, its sunny 300 days a year. Dont need so much battery here.
  • Post in thread: Fuses for Li Batteries

It would be nice if they included that information in the documentation or on the specs online. I don't see anything about it having built in fuses. You would think that would be included and advertised but apparently not. I sent them an email about it.
  • Post in thread: Preppers, are you doing that?

Just curious how many people here consider themselves a prepper. How prepped are you?
  • Post in thread: 12kW on BOTH Sol-Ark 12K

What battery is it? Personally, I dont really care if it can take 12k worth of dc. It would be better if it could make 12k ac. I had to get a 2nd one because 9k just is not enough to run a lot of ac equipment.
  • Post in thread: Electricity Rate Increase.

    Your a boss.
  • Post in thread: Double sol ark 12k question

Really? I want to do that if its possible. Did you try it? I was looking for a wire trough so i could setup a 2nd sol ark but they are all sold out. Something going on with Hammond.
  • Post in thread: Sol-Ark 15K All in One Inverter Released.

I realize that. I was asking if the knockouts matched though.
  • Post in thread: Double sol ark 12k question

Hello, I am interested in having a 2nd sol ark 12k inverter. But my question is can they both be backfeeding the same grid tie main panel and not be connected to one anotner in master slave configuration? I don't see why they need to be connected. I have my reasons for not wanting them...
