Hello,
Other than Victron, what chargers have a storage function (to maintain the battery at a reduced voltage once fully charged)
About Victron: other than the IP (22 vs 67 and the 15A vs 17A), are there any major differences between...
It seems the Mean Well chargers (recommended by Browneye) have good specs....I might get one
And out of curiosity, I'm running another capacity test on my Yuasa battery at 1.9 Amp this time (Yuasa specs says 38Ah at 20 hours rate)
Would it be "safe" to use 2 AWG wires with the 12V/1200W Giandel inverter, knowing it won't be running continuously (the sump pump usually kicks in every 10min for ~30sec in the worst case scenario)? And in that case, what fuse should I use?
Or are 2/0 AWG definitely required?
And by the way...
Not sure it makes a difference, but I'm not planning to use an inverter (at least not for now) - I need to replace my SLA batteries for my battery operated backup sump pump (12 VDC).....So I'm thinking to get a LiFePO4 battery (I'm new to this actually) - It means the battery will be most of the...
Is there a summary somewhere of the current best "cheap" battery (LiFePO4 12V 100Ah).....like a sticky?
I know Will Prowse did/does several reviews, but it evolves over time
I watched his review of the CHINS, and he recommended it.....But I saw a more recent video about the Weize and it seems to...
Assuming I decide to go solar in the near future, are there any chargers that do both (from AC outlet and also from solar panel), but still with the storage function?
Was thinking this one:

Or this one...
Hello
What would be a "decent" inverter in the 2,000W range? Not sure if I need modified or pure sine wave though
When I say decent, I mean a good compromise between price and quality/functionality
I don't want/need the top of the line that will cost an arm and a leg, but don't want either a...
Thank you Browneye...
Yes, I will agree with you that some reviews should be taken with a grain of salt....They don't know what they do, and trash the product in their reviews
About LFP, I just noticed Walmart is selling the CHINS 100Ah for $267 (and the 200Ah for $549) - At this price, it...
Yes, I’ve read that AGM batteries are better for standby applications, and it was not worth paying the premium price of LFP in that case. But I’ve just ordered a Redodo 12v 100Ah for $255…… 2 x 6V GC2 210 Ah FLA at Costco are $240 and will require maintenance and venting, for the same capacity...
What do you mean by "don't re-boost"?
Victron has a 10A and 15A chargers as well:
https://www.amazon.com/Victron-Energy-12-Volt-Battery-Bluetooth/dp/B07FGGCYKC/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=victron+blue+smart+charger&qid=1689440707&sr=8-6&ufe=app_do%3Aamzn1.fos.f5122f16-c3e8-4386-bf32-63e904010ad0...
Well, there is no LVD actually in my current system. The good news is I'm pretty sure I've never had any power outage long enough to have drained the batteries (2 x Yuasa VRLA 38Ah each in //) to a dangerous low voltage. But they are now 10 years old, so they should be replaced...
The 12VDC pump...
Yes, still deciding (procastinating?) - I haven't travelled much since then, so I still have time. And I still have my Yuasa batteries
3 months ago, I thought LFP, but then got advices that it was not the best for sump pump backup (standby applications)
I thought 2 x 6V GC2 would then be "ideal"...
I'm not using an inverter. The battery wires goes into the Wayne "controller" that feeds the pump which is a 12VDC - I guess this controller has a charger (that I'm not using), a relay and some kind of logic to activate the relay for a specific time (~12sec) when the sensor is triggered by high...
At 1,9A discharge and 12V cutoff, the battery lasted 13 hours 08 min (calculated capacity: 24Ah)
It's recharging now at 8.6A with my current charger (a relatively cheap one from Amazon)
The Mean Well NPB 240-12 can recharge at 13.5A, and costs $70....I might buy one
Yes, 12V (powered by a 12V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery) - Most likely a sump pump, or maybe fridge, freezer.....
Don't think I will ever use it for sensitive electronics
Hello,
Is there any good tutorial to build a portable power station using 12V 100Ah mini batteries Redodo or Power Queen for example)? Could be 12V (2p) or 24V (2s2p) and will use the proper inverter accordingly
Not sure what configuration would fit in such cases by the way...
Assuming I buy the Victron IP22 12v / 15A, it doesn't come with wires, so I will have to get some
1) I assume 10AWG are plenty enough for 15A?
2) I need to install a fuse, and it must be as close as possible to the positive battery terminal, correct?
3) What type of fuse / fuse holder should I...
I was thinking about the NOCO chargers actually (Genius Gen5x1 or GenPro10x1 for example)
I do have a generator (regular one though, not an inverter generator).....So when I'm here, I'm OK installing it and plugging the pump, charger and other things. The main concern is when I'm out of town...
And is it a "decent" one at $69?

Looking at this GC2 battery on Sam's Club:
https://www.samsclub.com/p/duracell-golf-car-battery-group-size-gc2/prod3590228
What does that mean exactly:
20 amp hour rate:215
5 amp hour rate:157
Is it 215/20 = 10.75 hours (when drawing 20A) and 157/5 = 31.4 hours (when drawing 5A) of running...
Hello
Assuming I have 2 x 12V batteries (A and B) that are different types and I don't want to have them in parallel (One is a new 100Ah LFP and the other one is an "older" 75Ah AGM but in good shape)
Is there an module or circuit that would automatically switch from A to B when A has reached a...
Yes, I thought about solar....but later, as a 2nd step. Does that mean the charger you recommend (NPB-240) will become useless if I were to install a solar panel?
