Update: I replaced the mega fuse with MRBF terminal fuse at the battery, sanded and cleaned connections and reordered the stacked wires so that the inverter is the first one on the fuse. and its working!! It's hour 3 and everything running smoothly. Fridge is cold, I'm charging another device...

Y'all are serious lifesavers. That did the trick!! It was a real scene there for a minute turmeric stained broth goo all over the place and nothing functioning. Whew.. thanks again! That was a simple fix
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Okay, I'm pretty sure there were no washers involved but I'll double check when I switch the order
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Apparently not. It seems that the temperature controller was causing the problem. I'm not able to stress test at the moment but so far so good with new approach.
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

Those resources are so helpful, thanks! That pdf in particular lays everything out in a way that really cleared up some confusion. I think I'll stick with the 8awg to the Epever, since those wires are already installed from the first time I set this up and I may add panels in the future. I...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Okay, I'll stress test it when I can. I looked earlier when I was there and I have the stack as controller, inverter, dc fuse box. So I'll switch those for now. Wonder if that can make a difference. Limited on funds and I've sunk a lot into this already so I'm thinking maybe I should get the...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

    It's 150 amp
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

There is but it's a mega fuse so I ordered an MRBF fuse for it that arrived today
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

    Yes I did
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I charged the battery to it's full state initially and then again made sure to a couple days ago before using the inverter. I have hardly any ventilation on the sides but about a foot in the back. I thought that would be okay since that's where the vent is. But maybe sides are necessary
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Start Up Amps/Watts = 6.3 / 724.5. Running Amps/Watts = 1.5 / 172.5 is the rated. So you're saying it needs three times the start up? If that was the case it seems like the inverter would have trouble on start up, not after a few hours of running when its already done the major cooling work
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

Haha.. you're right I tend toward the dramatic. And i did have yellow goo covered everything in my RV at the time. I'd given up all hope so easily. I had thoughts that broth had somehow slimed it's way into the system and ruined everything. Been resolved quite simply..And power supply not a bad...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Replaced GoWISE 1000 watt with 1500watt giandel inverter .. and setup works for the fridge!!! It's not kicking off, no buzzing. Also, sounds much better. The gowise had a constant buzz to it's operation that just got me irritable. Got the Giandel used off their site for the same price as the...
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

That's the video I based this off of. I don't have the manuals with me at the moment but everything I'm reading online is saying connecting them directly will destroy my equipment!? I'm just now seeing the updated version of this setup of Will's. oops
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

Thanks for the input, definitely don't want anything burning up. I've put a lot of work into this old rig. I unhooked the system and am going to rewire soon and repost!
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Voltage was 13.4 What do you mean poor amperage or not enough startup headroom? It is a pure sine inverter
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I still don't think this is correct. (again limited knowledge here.. but if the motor does not have to run at its full capacity doesn't it use less watts? and are you saying the kill-a-watt meter is not accurate when it reads 70 watts with compressor on? Regardless sounds like 1000 watt would be...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

That's not the same inverter, if it matters? Mines the GoWise 1000 watt
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Why would you add insulation to the unit? just curious..that's the whole reason I used a freezer
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

The problem was manifesting with the inverter beeping out of control and shutting down anytime I plugged my 'converted' fridge in, which was where this thread began. I plugged the freezer in without the controller after realizing the appliance can be set to a low 'fridge' setting and now...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I've been talking to the company this week. Passed my Amazon return by a couple days. Definitely lost my patience with it ages ago and would've bought higher quality to begin with knowing what I know now. Good info on the grounding. See I get these ideas from other threads like the stick a rod...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Continuous I believe. I mean even that's up for interpretation to me! Not continuous as in nonstop but as in beep, beep, beep, about every second.
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Well I can see what you mean there.. but I disconnected the temp control because I found that the freezer actually has a lower temp setting to run like a fridge. So, it's operating as intended but still kicking off the inverter every so often. I figure now the problem is either that I need more...
  • Post in thread: Charge controller blinking and inverter shutting off

I'll check the battery, just need to find my multimeter. I have: 2AWG from batteries to busbars 4AWG from bus bars to inverter 8AWG from bus bars to controller Solar panels in parallel I have been using the inverter without ever fully charging the battery. I should have done that initially I...
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

One thing though- Ever since doing this my battery only charges to 13.4 v, half on the little display icon. Before, it was going to 14.6 I think it was, with the little battery icon all full everyday. It has been a bit cloudier lately I guess.. so maybe I'm prematurely worried. Just a change...
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

I've found really excellent troubleshooting advice here in the past that has been of great help, so here goes again. My system has been working well for the past week or so. It can't handle my fridge so that's been off and I've just been running device chargers mostly. Last night I made a bone...
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

    Scratch that?
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

my panels and solar seem to be working, checked voltage at controller inputs and inverter inputs & the remote display shows battery full after a day of sunlight. I've never run the fridge for more than a couple hours as it cuts off even in the night after a full day of charge. I'm running just...
  • Post in thread: Wiring advice would be so appreciated!

Here's an updated version of my plan, if anyone has any additional comments they are most welcome! Thanks again for all the input. this is where I'm at, taking into consideration all the feedback so far. 2 100 watt panels in parallel - wired with 8 AWG to Epever 40 amp SCC 40 amp SCC with 50...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

So everything I'm running now adds up to 70 watts, not measuring, just based on the ratings on the chargers and the string lights added together. I just find it interesting that this arrangement doesn't cause an issue but the fridge by itself does. The fridge is an upright "Hanai" freezer...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I'm returning my 1000 watt inverter to GoWise. Apparently if they test it and its functional they'll send it back, if not they'll replace it. Either way I've decided that it's not to be trusted and am looking at inverters while I'm away from my RV hoping to get it all sorted upon return. I had...
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

It is a LiFePO4 ooh okay I'll start there! Still seems like pv light would be on for charge controller if the panels are connected but anyway I didn't think about the BMS thanks!
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

Battery voltage now is 0 so going to do a reboot of battery, of that doesn't work I'll be back and give a recap of system
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

Can't find anything from SOK for the LiFePO4 reboot procedure and didn't come with a manual. Found a YouTube that explained it though and going to try jumping it with my car battery. Anyone see an issue with this method?
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I'm living in my RV boondocking so getting it functioning will really improve my quality of life. As it is I'm juggling working in the dark, food going bad etc. I'm wondering if the fridge does have a high amp defrost since now it's only going off after 8 hours! Regardless, just might try a new...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

When you plug in to shore power there's a green wire somewhere? I'm hardly ever going to be plugged in. I'm relying on solar and my generator if need be. I didn't know about grounding the battery negative. I hear that, I won't do the rod thing.
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Well now it's been a good 8 hours since the last instance. It's strange to me that with every attempt at a fix the interval grows longer between shut offs. If I remember it just switches to a positive red light. As I was falling asleep I'm thinking hmm, that's probably intermittent.
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

I've just completed the solar setup in my 1987 Toyota mini motorhome. It will primarily run my fridge (freezer converted to fridge- roughly 1/2 kwh per day, I believe), maxair fan and charge my laptop. Im starting with 2 100 watt panels and a 100 amp hour lithium sok battery. I went for a 40...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I just wish the manuals were a little more in depth and didn't leave it up to guessing like that. But I do think continuous wouldn't let up. It's now hour 9 and still hasn't shut down. It's not it my nature to quit troubleshooting, this is just getting a little excessive
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

    Yes, Is this a problem?
  • Post in thread: FULL system failure!

That's the one I found, so I'm about to do the jump. Thanks!
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

This doesn't really make sense to me. But I suppose there's a lot I don't know about these things. The whole purpose of the freezer to fridge was to have a super efficient fridge for solar use, but you're saying the motor will need the same watts regardless? Even if it hardly has to kick on the...
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

Hey thanks:) I'll have to do some more reading up. Honestly, the manuals confuse me and I learn better visually so I did read them, but relied more on Wills instruction.
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

Ahh, I see. That setup does seem a bit more intuitive design-wise. I set up this way based on one of Wills videos for a beginner 400 watt setup. It was different than the book but helped me out to have the dynamic visual. I followed it almost to a T, so hoping this way is okay.. it seems to be...
  • Post in thread: First system setup! Feedback?

Here's some data from the charge controller
  • Post in thread: Charge controller blinking and inverter shutting off

I emailed Epever and they said that having the inverter connected to the controller is a problem? It is only when the inverter is on that the beeping and blinking happens with both lights at the same time on the controller. I also emailed both the battery and controller companies to get...
  • Post in thread: Wiring advice would be so appreciated!

The layout Im using came from working within the parameters of my RV space. The component selection came from reading mobile solar and watching vids. This is the first I'm hearing about the fault protection fuse options so I'll definitely look into adding that. Appreciate the detailed...
  • Post in thread: Wiring advice would be so appreciated!

Okay thanks for confirmation on the inverter. I read that in the manual but wording was a little strange. I'm going to get a catastrophic fuse then, looking into those now...150 amp MRBF should be good ?
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

I have been checking on the connections and they aren't getting hot or warm at all. That is the inverter model I have. I'm talking to the company now and wondering if I got a faulty one. Seems like its not the charger since it will still do this when I disconnect the charger and test the...
  • Post in thread: Inverter Kicking Off

Alright so I've been tinkering with my system for two weeks now and finally seem to have everything working properly. Except- the inverter is kicking off after a few hours of running. This is my setup 2x 100 watt panels SOK 100 amp battery Epever 40 amp charge controller Gowise 1000 watt...
