  • Post in thread: LiFePo4 addition to a SLA House battery?

I am new at this but here is my understanding. You will not likely touch your lead until you use up your days of autonomy on the lithium. You will be hauling lead! OTOH, I am wanting to double my Ahs by adding a matching Ah of LFP to an existing AGM bank. I believe I will be extending the...
  • Post in thread: My JK and my meat

I did lead+LFP this past winter in my trailer which was parked/stored in the driveway. During several consecutive cold nights and days, the BMSs Low Temp Disconnect kept the LFP off. The lead did not shut down, but was ready to automatically reactivate the LFP when warmer weather returned.

Is the value of P10 on the GW display = 2?
  • Post in thread: I’m more confused, please help!

Guys. AGM is lead acid . Simply follow the mfgrs charging specs. Post the specs. In general, normal automotive flooded lead acid(FLA) charging specs are fine. AGM do not require higher Volts, but they can accept higher Amps so long as temperature is controlled. Bubbling a FLA is ok but...
  • Post in thread: 12v or 24v battery

The Pi is a long DIY story. Fortunately, I have a degree in CS and had a long career in business data processing. I can design and program. Basically it logs data from the AIO and lets me see graphs through a web interface. Don't even think about asking for a copy of it. I run the last test...
  • Post in thread: New PowerMax Lithium Series Converter/Chargers

That looks great! At 50% that should be 7.4A (max of 14.8A/115VAC). NP?-1700-24. Do I want B or P? NPB-1700-24 might be the one I want to go with my Growatt 3000-24. It has 2-stage charging option and other useful functions.
  • Post in thread: Hightech solar panels

Since May 2019, I have been running a pair of the 200W with 39x39" square frames. The packaging was minimally adequate, but both panels were okay and tested well. I got the squared ones because they fit my van roof. I still have room for one more to give 600W. I reviewed Will's reports on...
  • Post in thread: LiFePo4 addition to a SLA House battery?

I was suggesting that the BMS could use High Voltage Disconnect(HVD) during the eq cycle of the lead. No extra charge profile needed.
  • Post in thread: My JK and my meat

I don't have an answer for low voltage cutoff. I thought we were discussing what to do if your SCC stops running after a low temp cutoff by the BMS.
  • Post in thread: Inverter charger question

What does the SOK specs say about charge current limits? 82/2=41 would be a 41% charge rate per 100Ah battery.
  • Post in thread: LiFePo4 addition to a SLA House battery?

Equalization might be the solution. In this case I am meaning to stir the acid to remove acid stratification. This type of equalizing raises the Voltage high enough to excite bubbling at the plates. The rising bubbles stir the solution. The process can be completed in 15 minutes. The LFP...
  • Post in thread: Consequences of overloading inverter

Would that surge happen only once at startup, or every time the unit cycles on/off while in use? If so, the inverter-induction units with the steady power draw have a big advantage when running from a small inverter generator. Right?
  • Post in thread: SPF 3000TL LVM 24-P power saving mode - test results

I just realized in #4, you said "your A/C relay in the thermostat clicks on". Actually my thermostat is battery powered and does not need to wait for the very brief pulse to engage the relay. Then, when the pulse happens, both motors in the A/C will draw no less than 300W without delay.

When you say mobile app, do you mean Shinephone? I do not see any way to edit settings there.
  • Post in thread: Panel Angle: Northern Hemisphere

Horizontal to the ground. It is good that you are looking into tilting. What happens when you don't tilt is you reduce insolation. The cos(angle) will tell you how much you might get if you don't tilt; here is a quick table: Don't tilt angle / % you get 15 / 96 30 / 86 45 / 70 60 / 50 I...
  • Post in thread: How long till you put lifepo4 in storage mode.

Set CV to 3.2V. That will leave the SCC always connected and still keep the SOC% steady. If you shut down the SCC, you could run out of power needed to keep a cold battery warm.
  • Post in thread: If ok to use MPPT solar controller as a DC to DC connect to Car alternator to charge LifePo4?

My understanding is that Volts in excess of the charging Volts are converted into current. So, current is boosted. My Morningstar SSMPPT 15L has a 15A current limit, although a lower current can be set. I run 400W with 9.5A ISC of solar which could generate 30A. That is correct. My SCC...
  • Post in thread: Inverter charger question

You meant 20A and 50A, not V. 50A would be 50%, so 41A would be within specs at 41% per battery.
  • Post in thread: Combine the functions of a busbar and fuse?

Each battery will be connected to one of the busbar junctions resulting in all being parallel at the busbar. That accounts for three junctions. The AIO will be connected at the last remaining junction. Let's just say that battery #1 POS will occupy post #1 and in like manner for batteries #2...
  • Post in thread: SPF 3000TL LVM 24-P power saving mode - test results

Not exactly, however here is a graph depicting the last 6 days in KWhs without power saving mode(PSM). There are no AC draws for the last three days. The red line shows 1KWh because I add a 1 to any GW measured KWhs to account for a DC feeezer for drawing directly from the battery. IOW, 1 +...
  • Post in thread: Pwm charge controller getting hot

Try 300W solar by disconnecting 1 panel.
  • Post in thread: Why is mppt better than pwm?

@ fat_old_sun I liked your post. Your measurements and stats are fine. What did you expect before you set up the test? Was 5S the most advantageous configuration for MPPT? Would 5P be worse because the VMP could be reduced to 14.25V(16.77 - 15%) as 14.25V would not likely allow any MPPT...

  • Post in thread: LiFePo4 addition to a SLA House battery?

Are you saying your SLA is a Sealed Flooded Lead Acid. A 'sloshy'? I am certain that acid stratification is a real thing. How do you stir the acid solution? The other definition for equalization is when you believe the cells of your lead have become unbalanced. This is when you rely on a...

    Got it, Thanks.
  • Post in thread: I think I've been scammed!!

Yes, it is that simple. For Volts, disconnect the panel's wires and probe the separate outputs. For comarison, do the same with one of the existing panels under the same conditions.
  • Post in thread: LiFePo4 addition to a SLA House battery?

Top balancing w/o a BMS means using a Voltage and Current adjustable charger, which I don't have. I was hoping to manually balance by charging in series, letting the BMS shut off, and draining high cells individually, repeat. That will work, right? Since there is no BT or data port on the...
