Yeah, I popped the top since it's only held in with screws, but the case is welded stainless steel where the opening has a "lip". There's no way to remove the BMS without pulling the cells first and I'm not sure I'm willing to go that far. I can see the mosfets but there's not enough clearance...
The USB charging was already in the plan. One of the nice perks from working on digitization in manufacturing is I get to "recover" hardware that's been taken out of production. I got to take a couple of these home...
I'm going to stick to the data sheets recommendations, 21V-28.8V.
I found this converter (it's a bit more) that does 13.8V which is what ham radio equipment is actually designed for (typical vehicle alternator output).

The only concern is how noisy the...
Yup... That was the "fix". The instruction that came with the BMS did not mention shorting B- and P- to "wake it up" but some googling I did after I posted here mentioned it. Strange though I didn't have to do that the first time I connected it...
Thanks,

I got a couple of these 24V NMC batteries for free at work but 24V seems to be the "red headed step child" of the solar family.

They are very nice 18650 based batteries in a welded stainless steel enclosure with...
I've got one 305W panel but it's currently running my shed. I've got 12V lights and a small inverter to keep the riding mower battery charged over winter. I could swap it out for a 100W panel pretty easily. It's way overkill but what I had laying around.
I wound up getting two of these from work which were part of a recall. These models had no actual instance of catching fire but the company is replacing all batteries out of an abundance of caution (i.e.: liability).

I found a low noise converter!

Only it's 49% efficient and $205... I think it's "low noise" by throwing away half the power instead of bucking it...
I also looked at a 2-3kW all-in-one solar inverter but they recommend at least 200Ah...
So I purchased 4 new 100AH CALB cells and they seem to be working great so far. I hooked them up temporarily to my Daly 100A BMS. Unfortunately the BMS leads were too short to optimally place the BMS in my system so I purchased some 22ga silicone insulated wire to extend the BMS leads.
After...
I have very limited funds so I've been working on upgrades over a long period of time. Christmas netted me enough to pick up a Victron 75/15 Smartsolar.
I'm still using a 33AH AGM until I can upgrade to LiFePO4 and only a few ham radios are running off the battery/solar so even with my single...
