Time to add Panels to 2 X 6000XP

(Note: The comments below are based on my non-electrician research and, AIUI, are relevant only if you are in a jurisdiction that has adopted NEC 2023 as their code basis. And even if they have, it's possible there are local overrides. YMMV If you want to check my work by doing your own...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

If I follow through with my current plans, I will have another data point here. I intend to have at least one 7s2p string of this Silfab part: https://signaturesolar.com/preorder-9-90kw-pallet-silfab-solar-380w-mono-solar-panel-black-manufactured-in-usa-sl-380-hc-full-pallet-26-9-90kw-total/...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

As it happens, I've discovered a different and newer version of the manual that seems to clarify that clipping is above 17A, not 25A. The text I wrote out earlier in the thread is from v1.1.7. I can still find that here...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

I'll be interested in anything @EG4_Jared has to say here as well. To add some detail from the manual. https://eg4electronics.com/backend/wp-content/uploads/2023/10/EG4-6000XP-Manual.pdf Under PV INPUT DATA on Page 5 Max Usable Current - 17A (the number you share above) Max Short Circuit...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

@EG4_Jared - Do you have any insight into where the 10 kW max input recommendation (as distinct from the 8 kW usable limit, and distinct from the limits implied by max voltage and max usable current) comes from? I've had some interesting discussions on a small chat forum about why this might be.

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

@dougadvrider - For what its worth, this doesn't feel like a thread hijack at all. What you've set up is similar to the kind of configuration I'm looking at. If you and @EG4_Jared are comfortable sharing the outcome of your debug here I'd be grateful.

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

Many thanks for the reply Jared. I'm interested in this both from a very specific/practical "not damaging the equipment perspective" but also from a "listed equipment must be installed in line with the manufacturer's instructions" perspective. In that spirit, I'm curious to know if, speaking...

    EG4 6000 XP - Clarification on "RECOMMENDED MAXIMUM SOLAR INPUT - 10,000W"

Greetings all. I’d again like to appeal to the wider group here to get some informed technical feedback about the 6000XP. For this particular question, I’m actually tempted to tag one of our friends from Signature Solar, whose presence on these boards I’m grateful for. Here is the situation...

The Chargeverter, the NEC and "listing" - (Seeking code guidance)

Fully understood. I actually had a great lengthy conversation with the regional inspector about the potential system configuration. He was not 100% certain about the listing of external chargers in particular (and he had just finished a week of continuing education on the 2023 update to the...

The Chargeverter, the NEC and "listing" - (Seeking code guidance)

As many of you may know, the EG4 "Chargeverter" is a neat device that allows dirty power to quickly charge batteries. Unfortunately, it is not UL listed, nor does it carry any other listing mark or testing assertion. The short version of the question: Is there any scenario in which it can be...

    EG4 6000XP minimum operational temperature

I've just installed an EG4 6000XP in an off grid property in Michigan. I've spent a fair amount of time thinking about how I'll deal with cold batteries, which has included thinking about scenarios where the batteries are cold enough to discharge but need to be warmed prior to being charged...

    EG4 6000XP Released, ordered. Let's Go!

I thought I'd add my own quick install story to this thread. I purchased a 6000xp through Current Connected along with one of their 5 unit SOK 48 volt rackmount kits, a pair of chargeverters and the bus bars and additional cables needed to wire everything together. I've installed all of the...

    EG4 Chargeverter | 48v 100A Battery Charger - Question

I was back at this location earlier today and did a second charge cycle. This issue did not reoccur. Both of my units reported output amperage and total output energy as expected and as seen in some other demo videos. The values closely matched what I measured with a clamp meter. So, if you're...

Maximum amount of SOK SK48V100 batteries

This is a slightly off-topic follow up, but I'm intrigued by the 0.7 A accuracy comment. I just installed one of your 5 battery rack mount kits. If I extrapolate, it sounds like loads below 200 watts will result in inaccurate internal shunt readings on my batteries. I take it the main issue...

Anyone------can I safely STORE Lifepo4 battery in cold weather

I like the "best effort heating directly from solar output" idea somewhat. Getting a little fancier, I can start to imagine an inverter state machine of sorts for this. You'd have an AC based heating system with a thermostatic cutoff like you describe. Then you'd want the inverter to follow...
