Adding panels to an existing system

Ground mount system, I can check the output of each panel at the inverter I believe.

Adding panels to an existing system

Not sure of the string configuration, it was "professionally" installed. Will have to do some digging around on that to see how it's configured.

Adding panels to an existing system

Knowing what I know now I would not have used the Solar Edge with optimizers either. It was done about 8 years ago so it is what it is. The powerwalls do have the Tesla gateway "transfer switch". It works fine, we paid very little for them, otherwise would have went a different direction...

Adding panels to an existing system

Hello All, Currently have a 10.6kw system consisting of 40 Canadian Solar 280w panels with optimizers, Solar Edge 10k inverter. Have 3 Tesla Powerwall batteries in the system as well. With this we could be "independent" apx 75% of the time. When winter rolls around batteries will get...

Can I top balance a new lifeP04 pack with a 30amp DC bench power supply that does not have a current adjustment.

Pack is a 2P4S 12v built with 8 New 304ah Eve Cells. "Charger" would be my trusty old regulated bench power supply that is voltage adjustable but NOT current adjustable. It's "rated" at 30amps and fused with an 8amp fuse on the input power side. Would hate to go buy another power supply when...

Maybe a silly question regarding multiple Solar charge controllers and shading.

I have a 42' motorhome with lots of open roof space for solar. Somewhere I read or saw a youtube video talking about a strategy of using several smaller charge controllers verses one large one for the following reason. Say you have 2 panels connected to 1 small victron charge controller. Say...

Upgrading existing system, am I way off base?

Currently have a 10.6kw ground mount system, inverter is a 10k solar edge and uses optimizers. Have 3 Tesla Powerwalls installed in the garage, the array is apx 300' from the main panel. I would like to add another 4-6k of panels, my inverter will not support that so an additional inverter...

Looking at options for upgrading existing system

Oh, I believe those inverters are primarily off grid inverters, but with the powerwalls and the Gateway all ready in place so the grid is protected during grid outages. I should be able to run these as a parallel system with the 10k solar edge. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks Again

Looking at options for upgrading existing system

Well, Knowing what I know now I don't think I would have gone with the SolarEdge inverter. Looking back there was no good reason to do that, there is zero shading so I suspect they really were not needed. I don't have a problem leaving the original system in tact and just adding to what is...

Looking at options for upgrading existing system

Current system is just over 7 years old and consist of the following 40 Canadian Solar 265w panels 1 Solar Edge 10k inverter Ground mount racking 40 panel optimizers 3 Tesla Powerwall Batteries System has and is working great, about 60-75% of the time we are able to get a full charge on the 3...

The quote that forced me to go rogue.

    7 years ago I was quoted $30-$50 k for a 6 - 8kw system. Did mostly a diy for $20k and it was 10.6kw

Something different, Mobil battery backup that also powers the vehicle

most likely all manual switch over at first, expect the battery cart will spend most of it's time driving around the property. When the power goes out would drive it to the inverter that is mounted at the house. The array is 400' away from the main panel and ground mount. I thought my...

Something different, Mobil battery backup that also powers the vehicle

The roof is real close to 4' x 8'+, so 4 full sized panel should work. Im thinking around 5k in storage, Thinking of a second inverter that would be mounted in the garage so when power goes out just drive up to inverter and plug it in after disconnecting from the grid.
