@mikefitz @Mattb4 @Zwy @chrisski Thank you all so much for your recommendations. I was just in the battery bank compartment looking into some of the things you suggested, and I went to turn the red blueseas switch to "OFF" to perform maintenance but then noticed my maxxfans kept running...

No I'm not - feel free to take a look at the schematic I just posted to see how it's hooked up
  • Post in thread: Mysterious issues ~ please help! (pics included)

Thanks - I'll try it again when it gets to that state. Question: What's the lowest voltage they should be discharged to aka when the system reaches 0%?
  • Post in thread: Mysterious issues ~ please help! (pics included)

I'm not totally sure how to determine parasitic draw, but here's what's typically running at night: 50Wh or 5 amps max for a 12v cooler/fridge (highest when compressor kicks on) 2x maxxfans on low (a couple amps estimated) Inverter (when it's left on, which is only sometimes) is 20 Wh at "zero...
  • Post in thread: SOK "open-circuit current" for Victron battery balancer wire sizing

Hi everyone ~ I've been experiencing some trouble with my solar system shutting off in the evenings despite very few loads and lots of charging. Long story short, I got SOK on the line and they confidently suggested my batteries are out of balance and that I purchase Victron's battery balancer...

Thank you! How do people generally design a system to ensure this discharge voltage is met without a battery protect? Is that just the internal BMS in the batteries at work?
  • Post in thread: Victron Charge Controller Acting Erraticly

So on my BMS, I have the Charged Voltage set to 27.6V - are you suggesting I try taking that down to 26.6?
  • Post in thread: Mysterious issues ~ please help! (pics included)

Hey Mike, The batteries are about a foot from the SCC so there shouldn't be significant voltage drop. When I built the pack I had received them from SOK and left them untouched for about 6 months before connecting. Assumed they were all at the same SOC since they were from the factory but...
  • Post in thread: SOK "open-circuit current" for Victron battery balancer wire sizing

That 29.6V absorption would surpass sok's recommended charge voltage of 14.4-14.6/ 28.8-29.2. woould you be able to explain the necessity of going beyond or ok to just set it to 29.2 which is max? Changing float to 27.6

I have more data for anyone following the thread System shut off last night. Was running inverter and a small AC fridge as well as 2 maxxfans on low It came back on this morning. It's a cloudy day, mppt has brought in about 460Watts so far. About an hour ago (while the system was running) I...

  • Post in thread: SOK "open-circuit current" for Victron battery balancer wire sizing

Please say it ain't so!!! I'm so exhausted by all the varying products people recommend. SOK insisted it would be a good fix - and I specifically asked whether it would be necessary to charge individually to 12V once detached (I don't have a good way of doing so, totally off-grid) and they said...

TLDR; batteries seem to not be charging to their max - need help figuring out the issue Hey everyone, New here and wanted to share my setup. I installed it a few months ago but have only recently started living in the space and I've been noticing some weird issues. At a bit of a loss in...
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

Sorry, I don't quite follow this suggestion. Can you elaborate?
  • Post in thread: Mysterious issues ~ please help! (pics included)

Ok - so just to clarify it shouldn't be hooked up like this? I thought it was weird to wedge a flat washer between the fuse and cable termination lug but saw that method recommended by other electrical companies. The fans are hooked up to the ac/dc distribution block which is given power by...
  • Post in thread: SOK "open-circuit current" for Victron battery balancer wire sizing

Attached (most recent examples of abs & float) I have tail current disabled as per current connected's setting recs: https://www.currentconnected.com/product/sok-sk12v100/
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

I think this is where I messed up. I should have charged them to full using AC power before hooking them up in teh system. I made the misguided assumption they were likely all charged up from the factory :( I hope this misstep didn't drastically mess with the lifespan

Everything is very wonky in my battery compartment so I think it's more than likely it wasn't sitting flat - will make sure of it this time around. Thank you!

  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

Hey there, I've been having some trouble with my battery bank shutting off at night and SOK suggested the batteries (4x 100Ah 12V in 2S2P for 200Ah 24V) are likely out of balance. They recommended I get a victron battery balancer in the system which I just installed. Two questions : 1. The...

Just tested the Battery to MPPT voltage as suggested initially, system is in bulk with good sun conditions, bringing in around 425W. Here are the readings: Battery voltages: Individually - 13.1 - 13.2 13.1 - 13.2 13.1 - 13.2 13.1 - 13.2 Pairs - 26.3 26.3 MPPT voltage: PV - 77.6 Battery -...

  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

Hey! Not sure what you mean by the charge voltage - it plugs into AC and says a 12V 100Ah battery should take 3H - assume that's if starting from 0 SOC - which shouldn't be the case on mine
  • Post in thread: SOK "open-circuit current" for Victron battery balancer wire sizing

Done ~ in the history section of the app bulk, abs, and float are three different shades of blue within the columns. most days its mostly in bulk, and historically when its switched to abs its there for about 1 to 2 hours despite it previously being on 15 minutes in the settings. can you explain...
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

Wouldn't the first one have that capacity because its 12V/24V & therefore has internal capacity for at least 24V?
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

I don't think I have the equipment available to link them all in parallel for the AC charge. Would need more cables, lugs etc. unless there's another (inexpensive) way. Was planning on 1 by 1 I don't see the capacity anywhere on the first charger's specs - ty for pointing it out!
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

That's def an interesting idea. I'd like to just knock it out all at once though. I should theoretically have enough solar ; 800W at 6 hrs should be 4800W (obviously unlikely optimal conditions). someone suggested in another thread that it's due to low sun horizon during winter ; my panels are...
  • Post in thread: disconnecting and balancing batteries

Forsure. I'll see what makes sense - do you have any thoughts on the first question at the top of the thread? & assuming you have lots of experiences with solar, is it typical for people to need to break down their banks and charge individually as a kind of ongoing maintenance?
  • Post in thread: Mysterious issues ~ please help! (pics included)

Ok all - Thank you for your patience. I was able to finish up the updated diagram of the full system when I got back today. It is attached I just went to test the batteries & the MPPT with a multimeter as @Rocketman and others suggested and there were little sparks that freaked me out and I...
