    Unexplained Parasitic Amp Loss

Be aware: Not all dc devices are wired through the dc panel and our parasitic draw is still there when the main fuses are pulled out of the dc panel (it's related to our gas detector and 'sleeping' circuits that are waiting for some kind of remote for input). It's hard to imagine what could be...

Old panels need to go, need suggestions for new ones

I recently lost 4 agm batteries and your charging problem actually may be indicating your battery is giving up. If you have an alternative way to charge it you might want to check that out before blaming the panels.

    Charge agm trailer with lifpo4

Part of the reason for the Casita is the integrity of the fiberglass boat-like hull and I don't want to put anymore holes in it to create potential leaks (important when you travel on gravel and less roads -- if they can leak, they will). Also; if I were to make a hole, I'd use a waterproof sae...

    Charge agm trailer with lifpo4

tims: I charge them with separate (and usually separated) panels and controllers, and yes, the anderson will connect in parallel. I'll bring the crate into the trailer when I need it and temporarily hook it up.

    Charge agm trailer with lifpo4

Paralleling the batteries is not an option because of space. I'd hoped I made that clear.

    Charge agm trailer with lifpo4

WYTreasure: I was originally thinking in those terms, then began to wonder why I really need to disconnect the agm. It's still not clear to me why it should matter and why, at 14 volts, the lifepo wouldn't just share the load and also charge the agm (my solar successfully charges the agm at...

    Charge agm trailer with lifpo4

In a case where there is too little sunshine during a week of mountain boondocking, I would like to be able to charge my agm trailer battery using my separate lifpo4 battery-in-a-crate system built a'la Will's videos. Is there any reason I can't do that, say, by using an anderson connector that...

Parallel connected batteries: one dies and kills all?

This is really about a specific instance, but the question looms WAY larger because of its implication for large battery arrays. Would all lead-acid batteries be like this, and would a lifepo4 bms prevent what appears to be the case from happening? The situation: I have had 4 commercial grade...

    Silicone sealant

My son with a fair amount of experience on boats recommends butyl. He says it's way better, especially where there is flexing in the joint area.

This guy thinks outside the box adding lead to a LiFePO bank...

When I saw this it struck me as the right answer for people who live in places where temps stay below freezing over long periods. Given a stinky two-week run in the weather (happens a lot in northern flyover country), a reasonable-sized lifepo bank could get depleted so it no longer had...

    @Whinny Thank you.

Messed up battery connection on Rich Solar mppt

It appears that I backed out the Bat+ screw too far and it has come out of it's thread. The screw head is tilted at about a 45deg angle one way while the boxed metal under the cover that the wire goes into is tilted the other way. The plastic cover for the connectors is also has a good 1/6"...

Giandel told me an input fuse is not preferred.

I the crate video Will says if a lead-acid battery is used a fuse should be put into the 600 watt inverter input line. I assume that would also apply to using a pair of parallel-connected 50 amp-hour livepo4 batteries. That statement had also confused me -- why won't the inverter just draw...

help re soldering to xt90 connectors

I've become concerned about using some very nice xt90 connectors I bought because they turn out not to have a solid crimp in addition to the solder joint. My environment is mobile is subject to big bounces, jolts, and vibrations. The how-to youtube videos on xt90 connectors all seem to just...

Connecting batteries at different charge levels

I thought this was the beginner's corner. Yikes!!!
