More great information. Thanks a million. I'm going to get all but one cables on the bus bar. The fuse holder, btw, is BlueSea. I'll do the crimp-test as suggested and try that copper joint compound. Maybe I'll replace my busses with the type shown in the phots (nice and clean setup). Anyhow...

Oh, sure. Forgot about that. My 200w panels show a 20a fuse rating but the 100s don't have that info (they are old). I do have a 10 amp MP4 fuse so I'll use that for S3. Thanks.

Yea. I'll probably just switch off the converter when using the inverter. In a way, my issue is moot in that I have not used the converter at all since installing solar. Wait a minute! There's no such thing as a perpetual motion machine!!!! jor

Did that yesterday. Don't know why I didn't do it originally. Thanks. jor

Just want to make certain my figuring is correct. I just installed 800 watts on my RV with 4 Rich Solar 200 watt panels in a series parallel-configuration. I call them S1 and S2. The 10 gauge wire from these is paralleled in a combiner box on the roof. Everything works fine. Now I would like to...

Whoa, you guys are fast with the replies! Thanks a million. I just ordered three 20a fuses. No more room on the roof so this should do it. I'm long in the tooth so this should keep me off the roof which will make my wife happy. Thanks again. jor

Since I got such a great response to my first question, thought I would try one more. My RV is a typical class C. It has a 55 amp converter compatible with my lithium batteries. I can plug it into a 30a outlet or run the generator or just use the solar and charge controller. Behind the converter...

Thanks guys for this excellent info. I'll make those changes. The fuse is 250a. So far, I've used an inductive burner, tea kettle and a blender. The most amps I think were 135 or so.

OK. I made the suggested changes. * Fuse on battery post * Followed by battery lug * Followed by inverter lug * Followed by bus bar cable * Followed by Victron power cable I ran a tea kettle on it for awhile at about 134 amps. The post still got hot @ 125F. The cables are not getting hot. Two...

Thanks for the replies. I should have been clearer in what I'm trying to do. The rig has five 120v ac outlets which are powered through a single gfci breaker. There is a breaker on the ac distribution panel for the converter but I was looking for a way to power those five outlets with an...

RV install with 1K watts and 2.2K inverter Another rudimentary question. My Giandel inverter works great and my 2/0 cables are just barely warm but the end of the battery post is pretty hot @137 degrees F. I have a fuse mounted on the battery post as shown in the photo. Is it normal for that...
  • Post in thread: Adding an Inverter

I was planning on just getting an inverter and leaving the converter in place if possible. I bought the converter just a couple months back when I installed in lithiums. Should have gone with an inverter/charger. Anyhow, is there a clean wiring solution for leaving the converter in place...

Class C RV, 1000 watts solar, 300ah lithiums (LiTime), 12v I've been searching the forum but my head is spinning. I'm trying to decide what 2000 to 3000 watt inverter to buy. My budget is limited so I'm trying to stay under $350. I'm just going to wire it into my distribution panel to power...

I've got that all priced out so I'm good. Just need to get the right inverter. Thanks. jor
