    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Thanks. Indeed, the cable lugs overhang!

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Thanks, and I'm good regarding placing the lugs on smaller terminals? I can only assume that the smaller area of my battery terminals (and area of the fuse terminals) are rated for the respective device....

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

I'm very much on the same page as you here. I've spent more time than needed trying to get angles at 90 etc ? So my cable delivery arrived from my supplier today. And I've got a suprise. I'm not sure what I was expecting a m8 lug on a 95mm2 cable to physically look like, but my they are...

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Thanks for all the detailed replies, but I may have caused a confusion.. The single "m10-on-m8" occurrence is only the lug (m10) on the cable coming *from* the battery on the m8 busbar stud (this is the lower lug in the picture). The upper lug (also m10) is the cable coming *from* the inverter...

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Hi All Thanks for all of your feedback. The thing I didn't mention initially was that I am upgrading my inverter and battery cables (to 95mm2) so I am in the position to order cables with the correct lugs. The not financially viable comment referred to upgrading the voltage of the system. I...

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Thanks, however this isn't financially viable. This is a DIY system that has been built up over time. I will say I'm quite happy with how everything is performing. I just would like to understand lug connectivity better.

    Lugs Electrical Contact Questions

Hi Folks I have some questions regarding M8 and M10 lugs and I'd be grateful for some help. My 12V DIY solar system consists of 5 SCCs (200A total max), 2 Battery Chargers (120A total max), 2 LifePo4 batteries, a BMV-712 shunt, 2 x Victron 250A 6 post Bus Bars (+ve and -ve), and a Giandel...

    Giandel Earthing and N-E bonding

I'm aware of that, but what steps do I take to ensure the system is safe? I've I got socket tester device with an RCD test button on it. The lights show correct and the rcd (am adapter fitted to the outlet of the inverter) now trips successfully. Thanks

    Giandel Earthing and N-E bonding

In order to determine that everything is safely working, what should I test and where? Thanks!

    Giandel Earthing and N-E bonding

I took the plunge and created a plug with the N and E bonded. My problem seemed solved! 240V between L and N and L and E, and 0 between N and E! To me, this looks like a standard European setup, and bonus that my inverter didn't blow up! Any issues with this? I will now proceed to install and...

    Giandel Earthing and N-E bonding

Hi Folks I have a Giandel 12V 3000W/6000W 240V inverter, used in a complete off grid fashion. I am in Europe where my electrical standard is 230V 50hz. It is used in a fixed location at my house. The inverter is in my shed, with extension cables going into and around the house. It is not...

How to be kind to my new Lifepo4

Not at the times where we've been using a lot of electricity, then have a few days of little sun (unless I used the grid to charge of course) But I think the summary, is that I can use my lifepo4 at low SOC (eg 20-50%), as long as I top balance every couple of weeks or so?

How to be kind to my new Lifepo4

Does this imply that a lifepo4 battery suffers from the same issue as LA, in that I have to make sure I charge up the lifepo4 to 100%? The reason for the low state of charge, is due to the sun. During the summer months, I anticipate higher SOC. Winter....that's a different story.

Creative use of AGMs after upgrading to lifepo4

Unfortunately I don't have the space for another solar system. The AGMs are currently in use with my solar system (to be replaced by a lifepo4) The idea for a heating circuit is interesting. Might be good to keep an ambient temp during the deep winter.

Creative use of AGMs after upgrading to lifepo4

I was thinking....I could keep my agm battery bank topped up and on float permanently, to be used during a power outage. We don't really get power outages here, but never say never! I could use just one of my cheap 240v amazon chargers to keep it on float, and then use my renogy dc dc charger...
