  • Post in thread: BMS for Schneider Conext

That's around 2014. I think there is something inherent with their design that is the problem. I've heard of newer ones having similar problems. Mostly in parallel, but not always.

  • Post in thread: Prepping for Lishen 272ah cells - busbars

Just order some more busbars. You have time. I currently have 2 16 280ah (not sure there is much difference 272 vs 280) cell strings in parallel. Each string is fused. I'm adding two more strings once I get my second battery order in a couple months. I use double bus bars. I asked for extras...
  • Post in thread: Help with 128 batteries each one is 280ah, and want to configure for 48v system.

https://www.bluesea.com/products/category/18/111/BusBars/PowerBar_1000 They have 5/16 and 3/8 so u got to make sure you get the ones u want
  • Post in thread: 410' wire run

You need to use a voltage drop calculator. I would not use a transformer. I would put the inverter as close to it's loads as possible. So that means, I would just run the DC. If you are going to expand, bury multiple cables. At 410 ft and 15.7KW, you are probably into some decent sized wire...
  • Post in thread: Help with 128 batteries each one is 280ah, and want to configure for 48v system.

They are daisy chain along one bank from most negative to most positive, then the cable goes to the most negative on the second bank, and so on. That's how the Batrium docs say to lay it out but I don't see a reason it would matter. I had to lengthen the cables between banks.
  • Post in thread: Summary of my battery options from China, lifepo4 3.2v 280ah cells.

FYI, there is a holiday in China from May 1-5. So more or less add another week to recent orders. They sure do have a lot of holidays.
  • Post in thread: 4/0 cable and M6 studs?

I use 4/0 with 1/4" lugs with 4 48v banks. So 4 4/0 cables from main pos busbar and 4 4/0 cables to main neg busbar. IMO, the big thing with 4/0 is you really need some cable support. The cable is a lot of weight and likely there will be some strain due to twisting. I have welded and...
  • Post in thread: Schneider Electric Conext XW MPPT 100-600 best use

The trace sw. series is the precursor to the xw line. Rock solid units. I started with that years and years ago and still have it sitting on ashelf. Only reason i replaced it was to get 240.
  • Post in thread: Strange EVE 280Ah cell behaviour during charging

I would get a voltmeter and see if the readings are correct. Looks like probably blockmons. Blockmons can go bad. Maybe swap that one with one on another cell.
  • Post in thread: 48v LiFePO4 Battery Charger

That's what I have for charger, but I don't have my batteries yet. Maybe by this weekend. It's only 18.5a at 48v. There is not much selection for 48v chargers. AFAICT it will be fine as long as you have a bms. I'm getting 32 cells too. I was going to create two 16s strings and hook this...
  • Post in thread: Batrium Watchman CORE-Cellmate K9 feedback

No, because when there is a need to balance, the higher current will allow balancing in shorter time. I'm not saying that I would turn off balancing for good. I'm only suggesting that balance be more of a manual activity rather than automated.

  • Post in thread: Charge termination "drinking bird"-style based on SoC

This is what I do and it works great so far. I have a Schneider MPPT 100 and two Midnite classic 150s. The 150's get last sun, utilize shunts, and are in follow me mode. The setpoints on the 150's are the system target setpoints. The setpoints on the MPPT100 are slightly lower. Setpoints are...
  • Post in thread: Schneider XW Pro Firmware

Strange, that is not how mine works or how my old xw4024s worked. If the generator is started either automatically via the ags or manually, the XW qualifies power and starts charging in bulk. If the battery is full, it will quickly move to absorb. Mine is set for no float two stage charging. If...
  • Post in thread: Batrium setup without shunt?

They stay close. Maybe off at most 2-3%. I find the batrium shuntmon to be worse than the others. I have the batrium, two Midnite solar Whizbangjrs, and the conext battery mon.

  • Post in thread: Paralleling LF280N with LF280K

I have two strings of N and two strings of K. AFAICT, you will have to do separate strings because cell height and width between battery posts is different. You would have to have flexible or diy bus bars. I have them in different strings and so far no problems. They behave like they are...
  • Post in thread: XW6848 charge rate limited

That's absorb voltage. It was charging at ~54v at the time of the screen shots.
  • Post in thread: Cooling

I haven't noticed any temperature change with charge/discharge. Charge maxes out at under 200a in my setup which is across 4 48v banks. So under 50a per bank for charging. But that never is for very long since my daily DoD is low. Typical discharge rate is much lower than that. Any high...
  • Post in thread: XW6848 charge rate limited

Temp usually 65-75. I'm just trying to figure out why bulk wattage is as low as it is. 140a and 48 nominal is 6720w which jives with the inverter being a 6800w inverter. But I only see ~5500w of charging max...which is probably fine since why run the inverter at it's max. But I'm trying to...
  • Post in thread: Batrium shunt trip setup, help needed

This is what I do. My inverter/charge-controller charge and discharge cutoffs are inside the critical fault lower and upper specs. A fault means a cell had a very low/high reading, there is a heating/cooling problem, or the Batrium had a problem. If that happens, I have to visit the battery...
  • Post in thread: Confused on which Batrium hardware is needed for my setup

I've had good luck with the support. Product is decent quality. There is a decent interface which is unfortunately just windows. I have a laptop setup at the battery and also a laptop in the house both monitoring the system. I also have Teamviewer setup (Batrium's recommendation) on the battery...
  • Post in thread: Help with 128 batteries each one is 280ah, and want to configure for 48v system.

The only one I have is https://support.batrium.com/article/92-installing-multiple-cell-monitors I don't think they have a recommended configuration.
  • Post in thread: How to monitor Multiple 48v Packs individually that are in Parallel for large Pack?

Batrium wm4 does parallel strings. https://support.batrium.com/article/92-installing-multiple-cell-monitors This is what I am planning to use. I'm starting with two strings and will eventually have 4 16s strings. There is also rec-bms that has a master/slave setup. You would need 6 slave bms...
  • Post in thread: Confused on which Batrium hardware is needed for my setup

That's one thing with LFP versus Lead acid. Lead acid is so much simpler. This doesn't matter to us as system designers/builders, but it's a problem if we need someone else to take whatever steps are necessary to turn a system back on. When I had lead acid, I wrote a manual with steps on what...

  • Post in thread: Confused on which Batrium hardware is needed for my setup

You can use either the K9s or blockmons/longmons. Both setups will work. The k9s replace the need for blockmons or longmons. I have 64 cells configured as 4 parallel strings of 16 cells with blockmons. I don't think there is necessarily a better option between K9s versus Blockmons. IIRC...

  • Post in thread: Question on small off grid cabin solar setup

Yeah that's how I see the question. DC just would not be one of the options. It's "do I buy a 24v inverter and use all the cells, or use the 48v inverter that I already have with only 16 cells". My answer would be use the 48v inverter and save up for another 8 cells.
