I have four 16S-batteries in parallel: three 200Ah with DALY BMS 100A and one 105Ah with a DALY BMS 60A. Each has its own DC breaker just in case. Each battery also has its Hankzor Balancer. They behave and play nicely together. I monitor them in 60s time frames and have them running for more...
  • Post in thread: Interfacing (several) DALY BMS via RS485

Solved it with a little help from the DALY BMS store: I received a new Monitor Software (v1.2.5), had to flash the BMS with a new firmware and then assign each of them an individual board number. Now it works like a charm: Three BMS on the same monitoring software!
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

I did some diggin into the Charge/Discharge Control feature, i.e. options to enable/disable charging or discharging of a specific battery. As I have several batteries in parallel and hence need to do some grooming of each battery (e.g. to allow for balancing), this feature is crucial to let one...
  • Post in thread: Need advise on canbus

I don't know the Growatt inverter nor its protocol. What helped me with debugging the DALY BMS protocol was actually a cheap logic analyzer I bought off ebay. Using this (https://www.ebay.de/itm/8-Kanal-24MHz-Logic-Analyzer-Logikanalysator-USB-Kabel-fur-ARM-Arduino-FPGA/293715300601) plus the...
  • Post in thread: DC fuse caught fire! Help ?

I have a similar unit but the 5.5kW 48V version and I read this functionality different! The way I understand it is that as soon as the requested AC power is greater than your AIO can provide, it switches into bypass mode, i.e. an internal relay disconnects your internal inverter output and...
  • Post in thread: Fucked up my BMS

Congrats on the successful BMS repair. Can you please upload both firmware files in the resource section together with a proper walk through so other can profite from your know how instead just knowing you did it?
  • Post in thread: Interfacing (several) DALY BMS via RS485

I built some 16S LiFePo4 200Ah batteries with a DALY 100A Smart BMS and want to interface them on the SAME RS485 bus. I managed to "contact" the BMS using a RasPi with a Waveshare RS485 HAT using Python. However, in order to contact more than one BMS on the bus, I need to set the board number to...
  • Post in thread: FRIDGE TRIPPING OFF 32A FUSE FOR 3KVA HYBRID INVERTER!

Well, I guess, your fuse is slightly too small to put it mildly. If you have a 24V system (based on your 24V inverter), then 32A only allows for 24V x 32A = 768W - far below what your inverter actually can do and probably way too less then the startup requirement for your frigde. You should use...
  • Post in thread: Combining solar panels

Absolutely agree! On top of that, by using one panel instead of three you reduce many plugs and wires and every connection is not only a potential failure source but also a point of power loss as there is always an ohmic resistance of the connector. This resistance is mostly in the milli Ohms...
  • Post in thread: Lightning Grounding

Hey, this is a great video! Thanks for bringing this in! I am not an expert as Tim is, but I hope, I can shed some light on it: Ground WOULD solve any fault problem, if dirt would be as highly conductive as e.g. copper. The reason grounding does NOT solve the problem is explained in the video...
  • Post in thread: Daly Parallel Module

Nice work! And as @HateGrid already mentioned, if you change the board number on your DALY BMS, you can address them separately using a single RS485 bus (or CAN, but I did not verify that). I have four 16S batteries in parallel reporting to one single RasPi on a RS485 bus. I had to flash the...
  • Post in thread: DC fuse caught fire! Help ?

I don't know, but I have an assumption about this that it definitely won't back feed and here it goes: Let's assume the AC IN has just two ways to go into the system: Through the bypass relay and through the battery charger (which is actually just an AC/DC converter to a DC rail plus the battery...
  • Post in thread: Daly Parallel Module

Thanks for the confirmation. I'd rather be safe than sorry.
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

Command 0xDA appears to address the Charge Control feature with this command switching the MOSFET on -> A540DA080100000000000000C8 <- A501DA0801xxxxxxxxxxxxxxyy As it seems replies the BMS only with the first byte (0x01) as the following bytes are remains of the previous message. To switch the...

Command 0xD9 appears to address the Discharge Control feature with this command switching the MOSFET on -> A540D9080100000000000000C7 <- A501D90801xxxxxxxxxxxxxxyy As it seems replies the BMS only with the first byte (0x01) as the following bytes are remains of the previous message. To...
  • Post in thread: Daly Parallel Module

You hit the point, HateGRid, with your analysis of industrial battery packs but you are mislead with your assumption of the DALY solution assuming all the magic is within the add-on unit. What I picked up from one of the AliExpress pages are the attached two pictures. One shows an inside to the...
  • Post in thread: Raspberry Pi Bluetooth Monitor

Hi Scott, Congrats on the great project. I am working on something similar but not yet as elaborate as yours - I am busy getting the communication stable. And from this perspective I ran over the problem of the DALY Bluetooth adapter falling asleep after a certain time. So I decided to connect...
  • Post in thread: JBD 4S 200A BMS in Parallel

Interesting project! If I understand correct, you'll have 13 separate battery systems, each 48V 32Ah connected in parallel. What I have trouble understanding is what you're doing with the diodes. If you put them on positive side of the each battery, then you allow each battery only to discharge...
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

I bought a CAN adapter and successfully communicated with a DALY 16S 100A BMS using the DALY software - so I know it works and blasting fast it is !!! On the other hand, I tried to get "behind" the CAN bus protocol and I assume, DALY is just using CAN hardware and run their own protocol on top...
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

I haven't played with the DI/DO myself but I guess, one would need a special firmware on the BMS that allows for it. I had to ask quite nicely for a firmware that let one change the board number (which you obviously mastered already) and I know that there is another firmware that lets one...
  • Post in thread: Daly BMS impossible to read data by RS485

Or maybe they sent you just the wrong USB adapter? In your picture, you show a RS485-to-USB-adapter when actually you need an UART-to-USB-adapter instead ... To my knowledge, the 4S works only with Sinowealth and only via UART.
  • Post in thread: Interfacing (several) DALY BMS via RS485

I have three 16S LiFePo4 DALY Smart BMS, one of them 80A and two 100A, none of them with fan.
  • Post in thread: DC fuse caught fire! Help ?

Have you tried to do that? As you wrote "theoretically" I assume, you did not try this yet. But this test could set your mind at rest! The way I understand this system is that there is no connection between AC IN and AC OUT except in "Bypass Mode". Only then the relay switches the AC OUT...
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

You can upload it in the "Resources" section. That's where it would belong ...
  • Post in thread: JBD 4S 200A BMS in Parallel

Not sure if I got this right ... why do you expect that the MOSFETs of each BMS can not handle the amperage? IMHO the MOSFETs are supposed to protect the cells also from a short by switching off. So if there would be an "enormous amperage" (e.g. because all but one BMS already switched off)...
  • Post in thread: Daly BMS impossible to read data by RS485

Sorry to hear that! Speaking of Chinese jungle - the page you linked to shows no RS485 either, just UART and CAN. So be aware that it also might not work with RS485. On the other hand, do you really need RS485 or do you just want to talk to the BMS? Because if your BMS supports Bluetooth it also...
  • Post in thread: Daly BMS impossible to read data by RS485

OK, so just out of curiousity - you managed to get yours working with RS485?
  • Post in thread: Decoding the DALY SmartBMS protocol

I don't know your tool. All I can say is, you are sending the right message. Check again if your tool sends the message as hex (and not ASCII).
  • Post in thread: First question! Daly BMS unable to communicate with PC!

That sounds like there is nothing going right ... When you say "Bluetooth connects on the phone ...", I assume you have a DALY BT dongle attached (and nothing else). So then only the phone app would access the BMS and you should get all the information. Same should happen, if you use instead of...
  • Post in thread: First question! Daly BMS unable to communicate with PC!

Not sure, if you solved your problem already. But if it still does not communicate, try charging your battery. It happened to me, that one in two DALY-BMS did not start by themself. However after charging the battery, they started communicating immediately.
