You linked this thread, stating worries that the cells are bad and grade B cells are much worse than grade A and waste a lot of power when charging...
But it's a pack balance issue with your grade B pack and the cells seem horribly out of balance.
So yes balance and cell matching is an issue...
What equipment were you using?
The grade A cells I got from shenzen luyuan all tested pretty much what their spec sheet said.
The grade B cells i bought off her, she said 280 to 274. And yep all within those ranges too.
All the cells Ive bought, I have done 200A discharge tests for 5min, and...
If you can afford it, i'd go the 180w version for $10 more.
Also depends on how soon you need it. Coming from Aliexpress means China, which means likely at least a month to get to you.
That voltage drop could be due to high cell internal resistance (old and used cell), or poor wiring. Hard to tell.
Why bother charging supplemental from the grid at all? Does the inverter not just pull straight from grid if there is insufficient power left in the battery?
For my output, node exporter reads this for the charge/discharge metric:
BMS_A{mode="modeInt",myStr="Discharge"} 0
For my dashboard, which I've adapted from Joe, this shows as either Charge or Discharge. It appears you already have this in your picture above. Were you after something different?
Yes I've looked through that thread and every other that comes up on a search for chargery here.
All you say is "connect using a simple USB interface with just RX/TX ports". Now you're saying there's 3 wires? Which port are you using on the chargery?
Plugging Red into Tx and Black into GND...
Success!! Everything working together!! Very happy with the great data its outputting already!
Thank you BarkingSpider for all the help and for writing this all up in the first place!
What an adventure it has been getting this to run, given I have no coding experience. Have spent the last 6 days...
Definitely not true here in Australia. Managed to convince the parents to go solar and they got a 15kw inverter installed with 20kw of panels on their roof.
Thank you for this, I will look into updating my setup with this.
I tried experimenting with this too. I couldn't figure out how to change the colour.
Currently trying to figure out how to get Grafana to calculate KWh totals for the day. Can't seem to get the code right though.
Basically...
Hi there,
I am looking to revive an old Barefoot Motors Electric ATV from 2010, which used to run of a battery series of 24s x3.2v LiFePO4. Unfortunately these ATVs were shipped with a BMS that quickly became faulty and caused severe undervoltage to the cells and destroyed them.
The ATV has...
Much easier to wire them all up in series but WITH the BMS connected, charge to around 54-56 volts and let BMS disconnect if a cell gets too high. Then split into parallel and top balance. should take 1/16th of the time! Have to have the BMS connected though so a cell doesnt get too high
