I am always fantasizing about having a energy efficient air conditioner for van life, anyone seen any concepts in tech news or anything?

I'm not familiar with that unit, but I don't think I'd trust it to be quiet. Remember, almost everything which is NOT a mini-split is louder than hades. The evap units on the minis are just about inaudible. What a godsend!

YES! That's the ever lauded Model 460 air conditioning system. You roll down all 4 windows and drive at 60mph on the freeway.

    General info on electric vehicles

I think the fire departments need specially formed bottomless cargo container type boxes to drop over a flaming EV or megapack. Pump in nitrogen or argon to reduce flames, and just leave a fairly small hole in the top to release pressure. They'll burn themselves out in seclusion, keeping their...

Retired auto mechanic and handyman here. When I took the A/C class at UTI when training for automotive, the standard a/c setup in a car was 50,000btu. (all that glass and not much insulation at all) Trying to do anything with 1,000btu unit is a bit too minimalist, ser. I've seen some sweet...

Has really no one ever tested to get power from sunrise till sunset ?

Even if the inverter does not limit you, you'd still lose 175kWh a year by splitting the panel setup, plus pay the cost to have the installer modify the installation. It does not pay to do it. (Excellent sourcing of PV power around the world, Sunshine_eggo.)

Must Read: EMF (Electro Magnetic Field) or leaking current/ voltage, and why you need to be aware

OK, 15-40v, but is that A/C or D/C volts? Just a few more things to check for: Disconnect the wire from the ground rod and check for voltage, both A/C and D/C. If nothing, run a wire from the ground rod to the battery setup and connect the negative lead of your meter to it, then touch each rod...

I keep blowing 400 amp t-fuses when charging at 240 amps

Jed, if you have things melting, it usually indicates a bad connection or too small of a wire size for the amount of current. What gauge wire are you using to and from the fuse holder? Do you have an infrared thermometer to use to check the temperature of your setup while it is running? How...

Connecting off grid inverter to house wiring

Be safe and use either an automatic switch or manual transfer switch, because you are liable if you energize a power line while linesmen are up there and they're fried. If you go with industry standard equipment, you will have less liability in the end. I bought the Reliance Controls 510-C...
