  • Post in thread: Cheapest Battery Ever

So I just wanted to take a moment and state that hooking up an cheap Facebook marketplace electric water heater is an absolute great way to us power when ur main batteries are full. I thought about a heat pump water heater. But the cost, noise, PA climate and only being able to install in a...
  • Post in thread: Bird Spikes

Hi All I gotta admit, i'm pretty happy with how this turned out. As many of you i am sure experience, I have a bird that loves to crap all over 1 corner of my array.... So i designed up and 3d printed these custom holders, so i can use Electrical PVS to hold up bird spikes. They just clip on...

Option 3 is set to UPS. I agree the switchover should be faster
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant Default Login and Boot From USB SSD Issue

I'm thinking about trying a USB power blocker... Wondering if power from the inverter is keeping the pi alive enough that it prevents boot....
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

Thanks for info. It is interesting the user setting only allow whole numbers for the voltage setting for back to grid... Especially for back to grid.

  • Post in thread: How to Wire Breaker/Panel

Sorry, here is full story. Yes its an off grid setup. Thanks for such quick responses. Note: Actually mean Reliant 30 amp transfer switch. The type that only switches the hot.
  • Post in thread: EG4 6000EX Voltage on Solar Input Draining Batteries?

Hi All So i noticed today, that evidently part of my battery drain is occurring in early morning/afternoon, when the panels have voltage, but there is basically no Solar Power. The EG4 6000EX is mainly supplying power from Grid (almost entirely?) The battery state of charge and current is...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex issue

Hi All So i have been running the EG4 6000ex for a few months. Had some setting issues and changed from EG4 mode to USE mode (see other threads), etc.... A week or so ago, i get a call from my wife, that the Inverter is making a lot of noise and erroring... I was able to drive home, but was...
  • Post in thread: Supporting Panels only on the ends

Hi All I have some 77" x 39" panels. I made a diy wood ground mount. I'm debating how I want to mount them. 1 option would be to only support them on the short ends. Leaving about 70" of the center of the panel unsupported. Is this ok? For what it's worth where they are going its very...
  • Post in thread: Pool Pump Faulting - EG4 6000EX

Hi all So i have been trying various settings to get my battery voltage to stay within acceptable limits. I think i have that pretty well understood from other posts. However.... Today my pool pump faulted with an E-08 fault, which is undervoltage.... Also heard my PC UPS click over when it...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

Thanks for info. If i set 10 to SNU... Wouldn't my battery always be at 100%? In my use case, i'm trying to use as much solar as i can to offset my electric bill. AKA, i want to cycle my batteries to use as much solar as possible. I explicitly don't want a battery sitting around at 100%...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

I did not understand that. Thank You!
  • Post in thread: Pool Pump Faulting - EG4 6000EX

Last 7 days would be very bad example. Been very cloudy. On good days, i'm loosing about 3kw of sunlight because batteries hit 100%soc. I generally have enough load that if i end the day at 100% SOC, I draw down to around 20% in the am. I wouldn't mind using Solar Assistant to switch between...

Yeah.... Some call it a character flaw. Some fall it a feature!
  • Post in thread: How to Wire Breaker/Panel

In the setup I'm doing in the picture. I never send power back to the grid. Which is what I thought off grid meant? The eg4 does have a ac input to charge battery as well as solar input. Im following the other thread on NG bonding with these units.
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant Default Login and Boot From USB SSD Issue

Hi All I feel like i should be able to find this online, but i am coming up empty. I have a Raspberry Pi 3 setup to boot from USB SSD instead of an SD card. I also have the Pi plugged into my inverter, EG4 6000ex and two lifepower 4 batteries, also via USB. My issue is that if i have the...
  • Post in thread: Solar Assistant Default Login and Boot From USB SSD Issue

Sorry, solved half of my own problem. You have to set the password under Configuration > System > Localization Still trying to figure out why it won't boot if inverter is plugged in. Oddly, i also noticed that if i plug in a USB keyboard, it does at least start to boot, but then hangs. Thats...

    Yes
  • Post in thread: Pool Pump Faulting - EG4 6000EX

Well, so i am now pretty sure the pool pump only faults on changover from SBU to SUB.... Just not every single time? In any case Settings below seem to be working. It does however seem annoying that with the min 2 amp charge from grid. Overnight or in low light. Basically the batteries slowly...
  • Post in thread: Bird Spikes

Really am intrigued to try and do that. Never have before. Could sell them custom, with custom mount angle for people who have panels at various angles. Of course I would never push serious volume 3d printing them. On a larger printer I could do 2 dozen a day maybe..
  • Post in thread: Raspberry PI Power Supply

Sorry about that... What can i say, had a interesting day that day with some people at work, it bleed over... My Bad. Anyways. agreed on USB data lines, although i assume the issue is with the PI not detecting the "Right" usb port to use as the drive... Since it was wording with SD card... I...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000xp

Should go without saying but you cannot deliver 50 amps. But as long as you don't draw that much your fine. I would suggest a 30 amp breaker after the inverter before the box. Of course you need to size wires correctly etc...etcc...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

Hi Overall the unit has been working Great for me for about 2 months now, and i have really been liking the unit. Of course, it faulted when we were away on Vacation, which has not pleased the wife... Thankfully, besides the pool turning a bit green, we were able to get in laws to switch...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex use mode

So I have an 6000ex with 2 lifepower 4 batteries. I am using USE mode with setting 20 set to 51. Does anyone else feel 20 should be able to be set higher? And maybe with a decimal point. I would like it to switch to grid at around 20% but lately the battery is getting drained down to almost...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

Thanks for reply... Maybe that is just what i should be doing. Do you have any idea what level of discharge gets you to? Approximately? I do want to use80% of the rated capacity... I guess i could let it get down to 51 and check SOC in the BMS...?
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

So with those settings, this is what i see. Seems a bit excessive with the amount of Grid to battery charging. SA doesn't even capture a voltage drop to 50VDC. Debating reducing max charge current and/or going to LBU for setting 5?
  • Post in thread: Where to find female version of gnerator power inlet box?

Hi All I have a EG4 mounted inside one building. I would like to go through the wall and have a female plug on the outside of the exterior wall. then when necessary plug in a long cord that will run power to another building. Basically I want a female version of the below, in a weather...
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex issue

Also. All i did was turn ac input off and the rest of the inverter worked fine. If it happens again I plan to connect watch power prior to power cycling.
  • Post in thread: Eg4 6000ex-48v Fault 06

Here you go. Im highly considering switching to CSO for option 10 until this whole issue gets resolved just to keep the batteries up... Seems silly and a waste and to not be using the system to its fullest... I do which there was another option, that if you have CSO selected, it only charges...
