I have taken a few apart. The one that I feel has good upgradability is the Rockpals 300watt. The layout is pretty straightforward. Battery inside is pretty easy to change out/take apart. Battery is connected using a XT-60 inside. 3S10P. I have done some modding on mine where I made a...

    NMC... 18650's.
  • Post in thread: How many power stations do you have?

I have a bunch when I started playing with solar. 5 X Rockpals 300W - These were cheap on Ebay being sold for parts that I pieced together to make good working units. The BMS is the Achilles heel for these. Replace the BMS and unit works perfectly again. 2 X Ecoflow Delta 1 X Ecoflow River...
  • Post in thread: How many power stations do you have?

The Ecoflow River Max is okay for what it is. 600 watts inverter, 200 watts solar input. It is fine for light loads. The 200 watt solar input is what I would say is holding it back. So can't charge/passthrough enough if I am running bigger loads. To be honest I have never been able to get...
  • Post in thread: EcoFlow R600

The "River Pro" only has a 600 watt inverter so that is the limiting factor. It has a boost function that basically lowers the AC voltage going out to trick your higher power devices in working albeit at a slower pace. Using that feature you can have it run a coffeemaker but don't believe it...

BMS pictures.... Original BMS - Which didn't work. Unsoldered at all the points.... Label where all the connection/voltages are on the battery and put the new BMS on.... Reused the four thick wires from the original BMS... Trimmed off some insulation just so I can get the points...
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

Difference between the original BMS and the new BMS is the lack of spot to attach this ribbon cable. (White one in picture) Looks like the only two important ones in the picture is the "second" and "third" wire which are labeled at "12V" and "Ground" according to where it is labeled on the...

    Ah.... Found the answer.
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

Here is another view of the battery pack. Very easy to pull the nickel off the contacts of the battery and put another in. Funny thing is if you look at the pack you will see that it has extra space to add more batteries. Six more. Don't know why they put that foam there instead of extra...
  • Post in thread: Any Scooter Experts Out There?

I did something similar with my son's Razor scooter. Originally it was two SLA 12V in series to make 24V. I just took out the two batteries and in it's place am using a cordless drill battery. The ones I used were the Kobalt 24V from Lowes. There is a adapter that they sell on Ebay. The...

So S1/S2 is for the temperature sensor? Wonder if it is cutting power to and from the battery if it gets too hot. I think I would still get a board that has the temperature sensor and has outputs for the fan. From my testing it is not the battery that is getting warm. It is the main board...
  • Post in thread: 2x100watt panels in parallel split into 2 solar generators.

I have three Rockpals 300 daisy chained together to my solar panels and nothing has blown up yet. I would say that you are safe in that situation. As far as the efficiency then I am not sure.
  • Post in thread: HQST vs Renogy?

Well... Renogy panels cost alot more than HQST so it doesn't seem to make any sense to get the Renogy.
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

I feel there are some flaws with these units. One is going to be the cooling. When charging or in use, the battery area will get very warm. There is really no way to get any air to the bottom compartment. Seems all the air from the fans are used to cool the mainboard/inverter. Another thing...
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

On mine there are a few issues. Things I have noticed is the AC inverter the voltage will start sagging. They come with a 115 volt. I have two that are now showing 113 volt constantly. One has even went out. Just beeps when I try to turn on the AC inverter. Battery voltage testing good.
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

Awesome! Did you get a BMS with temperature or just a standard BMS?
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

If you look at the casing where the charging port is.... The inside has two terminals. I solderer two wires to that and the other end to an XT-60. Drilled a hole to the case and mounted it. The way I have it the original charging port is still working but I have the option to use the XT-60...
  • Post in thread: New Competition for the EcoFlow Delta

Looks great! 2500+ charge cycles so I am guessing LiFePO4's inside. My guess is that it won't be cheap.
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

I completely unsoldered the original BMS and put the new BMS in it's place. Just needed some wire to go from the battery to the new BMS. The red and black wiring on the original BMS I reused on the new BMS to go from the input/output and also hacked the ribbon cable from the original BMS so I...
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

Use multimeter to check on the battery itself for the voltage. On one of my BMS it was faulty and so while it will charge the batteries, it didn't stop the charging after it was full. The light stayed on as a way to "bleed" off the extra power.
  • Post in thread: Amp hours from the seven cell Garcia board.

Make sure there is not a big voltage difference between cells in each board before putting them together. The PCB's themselves have a trace fuse for each cell and also a 5 amp fuse for the board. A big difference between boards will blow those. Difference between boards will cause an influx...
  • Post in thread: Jehu García DIY Powerwall

I have the same system that I put together by soldering. It is not fun. Very time consuming to solder everything. With that being said, if you go to his online store, he now has the boards already pre-soldered. They are like a little bit more but if I was to do it again then that would be...
  • Post in thread: EcoFlow Delta max solar input

Does anyone know what is the most solar that can be connected to the Delta? Manual shows 65V and max of 10A. EcoFlow on their Facebook group shows overload for over 400 watts but does that mean overpaneling is not doable? Manual also shows this diagram which even shows six 85W panels...
  • Post in thread: Future battery upgrades/replacements

Yes. I think those missing batteries will make a difference. How are you going to put them on? Soldering or will you use a welder?
  • Post in thread: Jackery Explorer 300

Are you sure it is only 62 watts input? That seems like a step backwards since the newer 240's got the 80 watt input upgrade. I went to the website and found this. Solar input is 90 watts or am I reading this wrong?
  • Post in thread: Current best source for battery packs?

My go to place for 18650's will be "Cell Saviors". There you can get whole pack, cells that are broken down from the packs but not tested and also cells that have been run through the tests with the capacity labeled on each one. I have had very good experiences with them and their service is...

  • Post in thread: 36v UPS battery construction

I am currently experimenting with a setup similar. I have a Dell (APC) UPS that used three 12V SLA batteries in series. The connector going from the batteries into the UPS itself is a powerpole connector. There is also a EBM connection on the back for external batteries. I have connected...
  • Post in thread: How to choose BMS?

This is a stupid question but how to you decide how many amps a BMS is needed? Let's say I am going a 12V battery bank with 18650's in 3S. Would I calculate the amps of each battery in one of the parallel banks or would I add up all the batteries in the whole pack? For example: 3S5P Just...
  • Post in thread: FIRE! Battery Hookup SHIPMENT CAUGHT FIRE! Huh Huh FIRE!

I think the same thing is happening to me right now. I made two purchases at Battery Clearing House on the same day. 11/10/2021. Get an email showing both were shipped out. Well.... Two days later I received the second order but not the first. I contacted Battery Clearing House and they...
