It has a rubber bladder inside . If you shut off the water pump and drain the water system the Schrader valve should have 2psi more than the pump on setting at the pressure switch. If the pressure switch is set to 35 psi for the on , then the tank should have 37 psi of air with no water in it...

  • Post in thread: Quality turbine controller for lifepo4?

I have a client that has a vawt installed at their home. The charge controller looks sketchy to me. FW30-48 appears to be the model . It doesn't look like something I want to hook to $10k in lifepo4 batteries. Does anyone have a reputable brand they suggest? I have been told Midnight has...

So far we love it. Dirt cheap cost of living, 2.5 hrs to the border and so far the medical care has been excellent .
  • Post in thread: Pv 1 and Pv 2 balance?

I have 2- 6500ex48 inverters each is fed from a single 3780w series wired 7 panel string at around 330v. Each string is terminated on Pv 1 of each inverter. Both arrays face true south. I want to add a sw facing group of smaller panels . 3- 30v 250w panels wired in series and tied into pv 2 of...

Turn the power to the pump off and open some spigots , then loosen some plumbing If the bladder is shot you will need to remove the tank to repair it. You need to drain the water or you won't get an accurate reading on the air pressure. Typically the fact that it is waterlogged means the...

. You need to do voltage drop calculations. The voltage will fall will with increased conductor length, this will increase the amperage. As Skypower said , find an online voltage drop calculator , see what your system requires. The size of the wire is dependent on a few variables
  • Post in thread: Best method for long distance between panels and load?

Your panel voltage will only be 48vdc? Or are your inverter and batteries 48vdc? 3 - panels with a voc of 49 vdc ,wired in series is 147vdc.
  • Post in thread: Bonding and Grounding Solar Components

Based upon the 2017 definition I believe the solar panels are the equipment and the ground mount is the structure. How is this any different than a freestanding electric sign? The NEC considers that a structure
  • Post in thread: LIFEPO4 batteries in high humidity

Hello , I'm setting up an off grid system in Mexico, I am planning on using the Lifepo4 48vdc 100 ah server rack batteries from Signature Solar. The humidity will be in the 60- 80% range for 6 mos. and the temps will be 75-95 deg fn . Other than a dedicated ac unit , what precautions should...

  • Post in thread: How dangerous is dc compared with ac

Typically low voltage is 1000 vac and below. Medium voltage is 1000 vac to 100,000 vac. High voltage is 100k to 345k vac . There are also Extra high voltage 345k - 765k and Ultra high voltage 745k + systems.
  • Post in thread: Bonding and Grounding Solar Components

I believe it is considered a structure. Light poles are. They will each have a grounding electrode of some design and a ground conductor from the electrical system. This does not cause ground loops because once the electrode is bonded to the pole and the conductor is wired to the fixture...

Not so much.... house flooded at a few locations as my wife and i spent 20 hrs straight defending our home from the water. Something like 30 power poles fell around town ,most of town was without power for days. Happy to say all my solar panels are still on my roof and my solar gear remained...

Are you running this in conduit ? When you say "cable" is it a multi conductor?
  • Post in thread: Solar Panel Fuse

In any wiring scenario the hot wire should have a disconnect. If you shut off the array by disconnecting the negative, it's not really "disconnected", the dangerous part is still hooked up. It won't work but the voltage still runs through the system. Switching the neutral or negative off...
  • Post in thread: Is this much mount footing really necessary?

I've seen some short (11ft) decorative light poles , and airport wind socks with foundations like the ones you have. They have rebar cages and grounding conductors that are attached to the cage and metal poles for lightning protection. The depth and diameter of the excavations seem seem typical...

  • Post in thread: Bonding and Grounding Solar Components

Fisherus. You stated that you have provided lightning protection for the array . I would run a #6 ground wire from the array , bond it to the combiner box then bring it into your main panel and bond it to your main panel and all the other system grounds.
  • Post in thread: EX 6500 wifi a no go

Has your device detected the wifi from the inverter? If so use the qr code generated to connect to the wifi module. There has been some talk that the wifi module pin # given is incorrect. Keep your router and the wifi modules "auto reconnect " on.

Enfsolar.com has a directory of Mexican solar companies. Buying in the U.S. and shipping to Mexico is a hassle as well. Sig Solar said they could ship it to a location of my choice in U.S but then an international shipper would have to pick it up and deliver it into Mexico. Add 16-19% tax to...
